As you may have heard, 9 th grade students at Watkins Mill will be seeing the film Selma on Tuesday, February 3. The film covers the events leading up to the March on Selma, Alabama, a protest that helped insure voting rights for all Americans, regardless of color. The film shows us the power of peaceful protest in the face of hate and violence, and shows the difficulties faced by a leader, such as Dr. King. If you have not turned in your permission slip, please turn it in as soon as possible. If you do not have a field trip form turned in AHEAD OF TIME, you will not be permitted to board the busses. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Oliver-Gary in B127, or Ms Farmer in B221.

Attention sophomores, the ACES application deadline is drawing near. Students who are interested can see their counselor or the ACES coach.
Ms. Young is asking all minority scholars who are attending the workshop on Saturday, to stop by her classroom or send her an email confirming their attendance. The workshop starts at noon and ends at 3. Lunch will be provided. So if you are a minority scholar and you are attending the workshop here at the Mill on Saturday, January 31st, please let Ms. Young know by Friday.

Cap and Gown payments are due to Mrs. Leecost by Friday, February 20th. It's $50. On Monday, February 23rd your cap and gown fee will become an obligation. 3. Finally, all graduation announcements and accessories ordered through the Josten's must be done by Saturday, January 31st.

Senior tee shirt and sweatshirt orders are being taken in the mixing bowl during STEP every day until February 18th. You must pay in full before your shirt is ordered.
Attention seniors: Lincoln University, an HBCU in Pennsylvania, will be conducting an on the spot admissions event here at WM on Tuesday, February 3, at 9 am. This is a free event. Only the paper application, transcript and test scores are needed. Interested seniors need to sign up in the College/Career Center and pick up an application.
Seniors, looking for scholarships? Check out the Local and National Scholarship list on the College/Career Center page. There are scholarships for community service, for students who want to major in science, technology, engineering or math, journalism, education or business, and more. There s money out there, but you must apply in order to get it.
This is a reminder to all seniors who are applying for the Montgomery College Scholars or Macklin Business 2 year scholarship program: The deadline to submit all materials is January 30. Boys and girls jv basketball teams played Rockville yesterday. The girls and boys JV won and both Varsity teams lost. Congratulate them when you see them.
The Watkins Mill High School varsity football team took time out of their weekend to give back by volunteering at Nourish Now, a nonprofit food recovery organization in Rockville.
