Upon entering the Big 12 in 2012, TCU inherited Texas A&M s league schedule in which the Aggies owed the Cowboys an extra home game. TCU played at Oklahoma State in 2012 and 2013, before hosting the Cowboys for the first time in 2014. 4The game features the all-time winningest coaches at both schools. Gary Patterson has 152 victories at TCU, while Mike Gundy has 107 for OSU. 4Patterson is 22-19 against ranked opponents, including an 8-5 mark over the last four seasons. 4TCU has opened 3-0 for the ninth time in 17 seasons with Patterson. ROAD WORK 4TCU s 40-14 record (.741) in road and neutral-site games since 2009 is the nation s second-best mark. 4At 34-10 (.773), TCU has the nation s third-best road record since 2009. 4TCU is 14-9 on the road in its Big 12 history. 4Six of TCU s last 12 Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 5-1 in those games. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 8-4 in conference road games decided by seven points or less. 4Among Power Five teams since 2009, TCU has the fourth-best record (26-9,.743) in road conference games. 4TCU is seventh nationally with seven road wins over Associated Press Top-25 teams since 2009. SERIES NOTES 4 Oklahoma State holds a 15-10-2 edge in the alltime series with TCU. 4 TCU is 3-8 versus OSU in Stillwater, 6-5-2 in Fort Worth, 1-1 in a pair of meetings (1943, 1946) in Oklahoma City and 0-1 in Dallas (1945 Cotton Bowl). 4 In its last visit to Stillwater, a 49-29 loss to Oklahoma State in 2015, TCU held a 663-to-456 edge in total offense, running 110 plays from scrimmage to just 53 for the Cowboys. The second half saw Oklahoma State limited to just two first downs and 122 yards of offense. 4 TCU has dropped its past four games in Stillwater with its last victory at Boone Pickens Stadium being a 24-21 decision in 1991. FAMILIAR FACES 4TCU defensive coordinator and safeties coach Chad Glasgow was a three-year letterman (1991-93) at linebacker for Oklahoma State. He was also a graduate assistant (1994-95) under former head coach Bob Simmons. 4TCU running backs coach Curtis Luper played at Oklahoma State (1984-87) before returning to Stillwater as a Cowboys assistant coach (2005-08). TCU NOTABLES 4Over the last four seasons, TCU has the Big 12 s second-best overall record (32-10) and conference mark (19-8). 4In the two previous seasons it came off a nonwinning record in the 17-year tenure of head coach Gary Patterson, TCU went a combined 23-2 en route to a pair of conference championships (Mountain West, 2005; Big 12, 2014). The Horned Frogs were 11-1 in 2005 after a 5-6 campaign in 2004, while going 12-1 with Big 12 and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl championships in 2014 after a 4-8 season in 2013. 4The Horned Frogs were not ranked in the preseason Associated Press or Amway USA Today Coaches polls for the first time since 2014, when they went on to post a 12-1 record while winning a Big 12 championship and defeating Ole Miss 42-3 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. 4TCU has 21 scholarship seniors after having just eight last season. The Horned Frogs have 32 total seniors compared to just 13 a year ago. 4A 63-0 victory over Jackson State gave Patterson his 150th career victory. His 152 wins rank second nationally behind Kansas State s Bill Snyder (204) for most victories by a head coach at his current school. 4Beginning his 17th season, Patterson is the nation s second-longest tenured head coach. He trails only Iowa s Kirk Ferentz (19th year). 4Quarterback Kenny Hill s 75.0 completion percentage (63-of-84) ranks ninth in the nation and is on pace to set a TCU season record. 4TCU leads the nation in third-down conversion percentage at 65.8 (25-of-38). 4TCU is tied for second nationally with three defensive touchdowns this season.

The game was scoreless until late in the first quater. After recovering a fumbled punt return at the Oklahoma State 6, TCU scored two plays later. However, a fourth-down pass into the end zone with three seconds left fell incomplete. Oklahoma State scored on its only two drives in the third quarter to go ahead 24-6. FROG SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES TURPIN TIME 4If he had enough attempts to qualify for listing, KaVontae Turpin s 15.5-yard average on punt returns would top the Big 12 and rank 15th nationally. NOT A BAD REPLACEMENT 4Filling in for an injured KaVontae Turpin on punt returns last season, Desmon White had a 7.8-yard average. THE COVERAGE GAME 4The Horned Frogs have not allowed a punt return this season and opponents are averaging just 16.0 yards on kickoff returns. 4Turpin s 28.3 average on kickoff returns would also lead the Big 12 and be 18th in the country. LOOKING FOR HISTORY 4KaVontae Turpin s two punt returns for touchdowns leave him one shy of tying TCU s career record of three: Name Career Punt Returns for TDs Linzy Cole, 1968-69 3 Blanard Spearman, 1930-32 3 KaVontae Turpin, 2015-2 Several players 2 4Turpin is the first Horned Frog with two punt returns for touchdowns since seven-year NFL veteran and current New York Jet Jeremy Kerley had a pair of scores in 2009. TURP IN 2016 4Because he missed a combined five games last season due to injury, Turpin did not qualify for listing among NCAA statistical leaders. 4If he had the number of games played to qualify, Turpin would have led the Big 12 in punt returns and ranked eighth nationally with a 12.5-yard average. He would have been second in the conference and eighth in the country with his 28.4 mark on kickoff returns. 4Turpin s 28.4 average on kickoff returns was the highest by a Horned Frog since All-American Greg McCoy had a 30.6 mark in 2011. 4Prior to his injury, Turpin was leading the NCAA in punt returns (28.8 yards) and was one of two players nationally to rank in the top 10 in punt returns and kickoff returns. Turpin was eighth in kickoff returns (32.8 yards). 4Through two games, before the injury, Turpin topped the nation in all-purpose yards at 236.0 per game. He then left the Week 3 Iowa State contest due to injury. 4Turpin returned to his regular duties as TCU s primary kickoff and punt returner at Baylor. He had three kickoff returns for 99 yards (33.0 average), including a 46-yard effort on his first attempt of the game versus the Bears. 4Turpin s career-long 64-yard kickoff return against Arkansas, with less than a minute to play in regulation, set up a potential game-winning field goal. 4Turpin s 81-yard second-quarter punt return for a touchdown against South Dakota State was the second of his career. He had a 49-yard punt return for a score versus Kansas in 2015. 4Turpin s 81-yard effort tied for the sixth-longest punt return in TCU history. It was the Horned Frogs longest since LaVar Veale went 85 yards versus Nevada in 2000. 4At SMU, in his first game as Turpin s replacement, White had a career long 31-yard punt return on his first attempt. He totaled three returns for 74 yards (24.7 average) in being named the Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of the Week. LOCAL SONG 4Fort Worth native Jonathan Song has converted all 20 of his PAT attempts this season. He has not attempted a field goal. THE ROAD TO TCU 4Place-kicker Brandon Ritchie attended four colleges but did not play football at any of them before arriving at TCU in Summer 2017. As a senior, and in his only year of playing football, he was 2-of-3 on field goals with a long of 40. He made all 17 of his PATs. 4Ritchie converted a PAT against Jackson State and had one kickoff. STEADY FOOT 4Adam Nunez has placed three of his seven punts this season inside the opponent 20 with no touchbacks. 4Last season, Nunez placed 26 punts inside the opponent 20, including 15 at or inside the 10, with just two touchbacks. His 39.6-yard average was the best by a Horned Frog since Ethan Perry at 40.3 in 2013. 4In the last four games a year ago, Nunez placed 12 punts inside the 20, including seven inside the 10, with no touchbacks. During that stretch, TCU opponents had nine punt returns for a total of 11 yards (1.2 average). 4Nunez had punts downed at the Baylor 2- and 3-yard lines. He was key in the Bears having an average starting field position at their 18. SPEED BABY 4Adam Nunez had an 18-yard run for a first down on a fake punt against Texas Tech last season. 4Nunez is just 5,246 yards away from breaking Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson s TCU career record for rushing (5,263, 1997-00). IT S A SNAP 4TCU s new deep snapper, who has received praise from head coach Gary Patterson, is Lucas Gravelle. 4He is a graduate transfer from Washington State who started the last two seasons for the Cougars. 4Over the last four seasons, TCU has been particularly stingy with its punt coverage: Year Opp. Avg. SEPT. 16, 2017 / ATTENDANCE: 44,489 AMON G. CARTER STADIUM / FORT WORTH, TEXAS JACKSON ST. 0 TCU 63 FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Coach Gary Patterson wasn t going to get overexcited about TCU s 63-0 victory against an FCS team. Even with that win against Jackson State being the 150th victory of his career, Patterson was keeping everything in perspective after the lopsided victory. This next one is a test (against Arkansas), Patterson said. I d be excited if I could get to 160 by the end of this season. Quarterback Kenny Hill threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns, two to Desmon White, and helped TCU take a comfortable lead early on. TCU scored on all three possessions in the first quarter, including a 13-yard touchdown where Kenedy Snell took a shovel pass and broke five tackles on a weaving sideline-to-sideline run. TCU posted its first shutout since 2014 and scored twice on defense as Ridwan Issahaku returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Arico Evans returned a fumble 32 yards in the third. Hill completed 18 of 23 passes before being replaced by backup quarterback Shawn Robinson midway through the third quarter. The Tigers were limited to 24 yards rushing and 41 passing. Jackson State reached the TCU 7-yard line on the game s opening drive, but a fumbled snap led to a 28-yard loss and was followed up by a failed fake punt. NO. 23 TCU 28 ARKANSAS 7 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Led by a defense that stifled its opponent for a second straight week, No. 23 TCU made amends for its loss a year ago by earning a 28-7 win over the Razorbacks. The Horned Frogs held Arkansas to 267 yards of total offense, a week after allowing only 65 yards in a 63-0 victory over Jackson State. They also controlled the time of possession with 195 yards rushing as a team, led by a career-high 106 on the ground from sophomore Darius Anderson. Anderson s career day topped his previous rushing best of 103 yards in a victory over Texas last season, helping TCU win in Fayetteville for the first time since 1984 when both schools were in the Southwest Conference. It was the collective effort of the Horned Frogs defense, however, that stole the show - while TCU quarterback Kenny Hill was content to manage the rushing game and lead an offense that converted 10 of 14 third downs. Even in a secondary role, the senior still finished 21-of-31 passing and topped 200 yards of total offense in his third career game against Arkansas. The Horned Frogs had three sacks in the game, one each by Ridwan Issahaku, Ben Banogu and Corey Bethley. It was its coverage that decimated Arkansas once-mighty passing attack, though. Only three Razorbacks wide receivers caught passes in the game and quarterback Austin Allen - who accounted for four touchdowns in last year s win - finished 9 of 23 for 138 yards passing. SMU 36 NO. 20 TCU 56 FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Jalen Reagor made a leaping 38-yard TD catch between four defenders who didn t jump with him on the final play of the first half, finally putting the Horned Frogs ahead to stay in a 56-36 victory. SMU led 19-7 before Kenny Hill threw three TD passes in the final 7 1/2 minutes of the second quarter. The last was Reagor s catch in a crowd of Mustangs who seemed more like observers than defenders. Darius Anderson ran for two touchdowns for TCU in the second half, including the first drive after halftime. Speedy running back Kenedy Snell also scored twice, while Hill completed 24 of 30 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns. Snell had a 10-yard TD run and later turned a short pass into a 71-yard sprint to the end zone. That long score put TCU up 21-19 with 2:40 left in the first half. Snell and Reagor are both true freshmen from Waxahachie, Texas, less than an hour from the TCU campus. Josh Williams kicked his third field goal for SMU after Snell s big play, but TCU still had time. Taking over at its 44 with 10 seconds left after the kickoff, Snell had an 18-yard run before a timeout to set up the final play. TCU intercepted SMU quarterback Ben Hicks twice, including one returned 19 yards for a touchdown by linebacker Travin Howard.
