MERRY CHRISTMAS Welcome to the final newsletter for the year. December is an exciting and equally challenging month with the temperature warming up, planning for the Yuletide break, navigating the shopping centres and nervously sitting on the Red fellas lap! Its Christmas and with that, Santa visits Mullaloo Beach. His arrival over the years has been the highlight for the last club day in December for the lifesavers under construction. Keep your eyes on the ocean kids because he is getting ready to land on the best beach in Perth. With half the season under the bridge the stage looks set for a great summer. Our clubbies have performed with excellence at our Junior and Senior carnivals; similarly the rowers are storming forward and making their mark on the competition. The Ted Scott marathon and the junior disco will be winding up the month followed by the news year s eve blockbuster. Our beach at the moment looks fantastic especially in the mornings when they have been cleaned. The picture is something to be admired and for which we sometimes take for granted. One of our senior members who had his 60th birthday earlier this month escaped a chastising speech that reflected on the year that he was born. The year was 1954; T.V. Dinners were introduced, first successful kidney transplant, first burger king opens in Miami, first Godzilla movie, Footscray win their maiden flag, Bill Haley records Rock around the clock, Marilyn Munroe ties the knot. Ironically Albert Einstein left us on this day to make way for this man (depending on what you believe). Happy birthday big fella may your bathers stay tight and remain in place for some time to come. Finally this is the time for reflection and so a quote from mass produced poster; If you are depressed then you are living in the past. If you are anxious then you are living in the future. If you are at peace then you are living in the present Merry Christmas. Ed... a Christmas message from the President As the Club takes a small break from Club days, there will be many members still supporting our Community during the Christmas break. Please look after yourself and take care whether you are on the beach or anywhere else. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Best wishes for the festive season. Carlo Tenaglia President OFFICE CHRISTMAS CLOSURE The office will be closed from 2pm, Tuesday 23 December until 10am, Friday 2 January. Merry Christmas! Proudly supported by Page 1

These waves usually break in shallow water with tremendous force and can throw a swimmer to the bottom. This type of wave is considered dangerous and the common cause of spinal injuries. If caught in one of these waves try pulling or dropping off the back of the wave or extended your arms in front of you to reduce the risk of a spinal injury. Surf Life Saving Australia Ltd. (2014).
