Chief Murphy would like to take this time to remind all residents of the Township Ordinance regarding snow removal. Ordinance 165-1 and 165-1.1 state the following: The owner or owners, tenant or tenants of any lands abutting upon the public streets of the Township of Wyckoff shall remove all snow and ice from the abutting sidewalks of such public streets within 12 hours of daylight after the same shall fall or be formed thereon. The operator of any snowplow, or other snow removal equipment, clearing accumulated snow on private property shall not deposit, or cause to be deposited, such snow on any public road, street, highway, sidewalk, public right of way, or on private property other than the property on which the snow had accumulated. Please remember that the Township DPW works hard to keep the roadways clear during a snowstorm. Putting snow back into the roadway, not only violates the ordinance, but creates a safety hazard for your friends and neighbors. The Wyckoff Police Department would like to point out that the above individuals have been charged with a crime, offense, and or motor vehicle violations. However, they are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty in a court of law. We cannot stress enough the value of our residents remaining alert in their neighborhoods and reporting anything unusual or suspicious to the police, Hear It!, See It!, Report It! We encourage all residents to report ANY suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity occurring at any time to the Wyckoff Police County Communications Center at 201-891-2121 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
