NSW WELCOME FROM THE CEO 02 It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2018 State of Origin Series. We are delighted to bring touch football s showpiece event to Redcliffe and the Moreton Bay region in 2018, and with Dolphin Stadium s top-class facilities, and we are confident the players and spectators will thoroughly enjoy their State of Origin experience. This event brings together more than 650 of the best players and officials from across Queensland and New South Wales, in what always proves to be an outstanding showcase of touch football talent. While we acknowledge the hard work the 28 teams have put in during this Origin cycle, I must also congratulate the referees on their selection for this event, and trust they will thoroughly enjoy the experience. Welcome to all supporters, family members and friends, particularly those who have travelled significant distances to be here. Your support is critical to the success of our participants, and more broadly, the overall growth of our sport. To all staff and volunteers, I wish you the best in the running of this year s event, and trust your hard work in the lead-up will ensure it is a great success. Most importantly, thank you for your dedication to our sport, and I hope you enjoy your State of Origin experience. The high performance programs across both states provide a platform for our athletes to compete in the most intense environments the sport offers, the NRL Touch Premiership, and is vital in developing our players and officials for State of Origin representation. However, the importance of those programs extends far beyond competition it is a major driver of participation growth. There is a clear link between strength in grassroots participation and an identifiable pathway to representative teams. To ensure that link remains viable, we will continue to invest in these programs in support of our athletes and to foster growth in participation. Dolphin Stadium was a standout choice to host this year s State of Origin, on Queensland soil. I sincerely thank Grant Cleal, Redcliffe Rugby League and the Leagues Club for their support in staging the event. Enjoy the weekend, and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2019. Ben Mannion Chief Executive Officer Queensland Touch Football
