In the Women s final the undefeated Central Scorpions took on the Northern Vipers for the title. The young Vipers attacked well in the first half but the Scorpions defence was rock solid and the Vipers failed to capitalize. The Scorpions seemingly on the back foot made the most of their attacks forward crossing the line twice to set up a 2-0 advantage at half time. The Vipers were looking to come out strong in the second half but Eloise Birch scored at the 3 minute mark to extend Scorpions lead to 3-0. The Scorpions added further pain scoring again at the 8 th and again at the 11 th minute mark through Hannah McGough which put the result beyond doubt at 5-0. The young Vipers battled hard but in the end could not match the experience and resolve of the disciplined Scorpions who ran out comfortable winners and completed a perfect season which saw the Scorpion girls lift the premiership cup for the 6 th time in 7 seasons. LIKE/FOLLOW US In the Men s final the Defence Eagles were also looking to complete a perfect season going into the match undefeated against the Northern Vipers, but it was the underdog s who set the tone early bolting out of the blocks to score first blood at the 3 minute mark. However within the next set of six the Eagles hit straight back leveling the scores at 1-1 and it looked like we were going to be in for a tight contest. The normally systematic and calculated Defence boys looked unsettled missing several opportunities on their line through dropped balls and half time couldn t come quick enough for them to regroup. The break appeared to have worked with Defence Eagles coming out strong in the 2 nd half however any momentum shift was shorted lived as the Vipers hit straight back to consolidate their half time advantage. The Eagles managed to score one final consolidation try to take the score to 7-4 but it was too little to late, with the final siren sounding seconds later. The Northern Vipers claimed an upset win and in doing so achieved Back to Back Men s Championships. Facebook: Touch Football SA Twitter: @touchfootballsa Youtube: youtube.com/touchfootyaus Victory in the Men s division and second place in the Women s division saw the Northern Vipers claim the Regional Championship, their first in 7 years (2005). The Vipers had further reason to celebrate when Bethany Fairfield was named Female MVP of the series, whilst Defence Eagles didn t go home empty handed with Peter Owens claiming the Male MVP of the series. Amanda Sheeky continued her rise up the SA referee ranks awarded the MVP referee of the series. VIEW THE FULL STORY @ www.touchsa.com.au
