Something Old This week we interviewed Mr. Ross and Mrs. Rief, two retiring teachers from Wisner-Pilger. We asked them the following four questions: 1. Do you like teaching at Wisner-Pilger? 2. What s your favorite part of the day? 3. What are you going to do after retiring? 4. What s one of your favorite stories from teaching and why? Mrs. Rief 1. I have enjoyed my years at Wisner-Pilger High School. I like new adventures and getting to know students. I like to help students reach their potential. I also have really enjoyed working with the facility and staff. 2. Every part of the day is great. I like to see success in the eyes of students. I like to teach new concepts. I like to challenge my students. There is something positive every day. 3. I am going to enjoy going to my grandchildren s activities without worrying about getting home late. I will read so many more books and the adventures within these books. I will design and create quilt tops and maybe even get into pattern making. I will continue to teach online classes which I can do from anywhere in the us and world. I even have some baby books that need to be completed. Summers are filled with gardening and flower beds. I don t think I will be bored. 4. I remember getting a request from the federal government about a student and his behavior while in high school. I could not think of anything this student did that would warrant them questioning him for a job. The questionnaire the student filled out asked if there was anything he did really wrong while in high school. He filled in yes for he did not want to lie. I could not think of anything; this is what I told the interviewing person. Later when I saw this student, I asked him what he remembered doing wrong. He told me that I kept him for quality time for talking out of line. You see I do not remember these things after time for my main goal is that you become you as an adult. Mr. Ross 1. I have enjoyed this school because the school puts its students first. 2. My favorite part about the school day is the morning because getting things done is always the best way to go. 3. After retiring I will have more time to see me grandkids. I do not want to work at Walmart and ask people if they want a cart. I don t want to sell cars either. 4. The best thing from teaching at Wisner-Pilger would have to be during state basketball I got to put a medal around my daughter s neck after they won. Cassidy Gooch and Taylor Macke
We also interviewed Ronja, Alexa, and Carolina. We asked them the following questions: 1. Do you like Wisner-Pilger and why? 2. How different is Wisner-Pilger from your school at home? 3. What s an interesting fact about your home? 4. What are your hobbies? 5. What s your favorite food? 1. Yes, because the teachers are nice and so are the students. 2. Very different. Classes here are shorter, but days are longer. We have a lot more homework here and a lot less breaks during the days. The way you choose your classes are different. Also, we do not have any sports or activities in school, except regular p.e. 3. We have 2 different official versions of Norwegian, they are written in 3 different ways, but no one really speaks any of them. 1.Yes, because it s a school that welcomes everybody and they are all very connected to each other. 2. They are very different from the way classes are scheduled to the number of students and even the extra- curricular activities and sports. 3. Listening to music, hanging out with friends, and cooking and baking. 1.Yes, because Wisner has school activities. 2. In Germany every day I have different classes and I have 20-minute passing periods. 3. I like steak the best. Cassidy Gooch and Taylor Macke
