Rail: True Stewards: S Cullen (Chairman), M Purse & C McIntosh Riding Changes: Nil Race 1: Class 3 Handicap 1000m Postmaster General a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was uneven in its hind gait. Trainer Mr. N Doyle said that Postmaster General would be spelled. Dream Charge was withdrawn at 12.50pm, due to transport difficulties. Lookin Alive slow to begin. Race 2: Maiden Handicap 1600m Trainer Mr. G Allard was fined $100 (LR35) for failing to declare J Pracey- Holmes as the rider of Onemoreforluck, by the prescribed time. Magic Charlee crowded at the start. Hyper ran wide under pressure inside the 200m. Rehamla was bumped heavily and became unbalanced shortly after the start. Derby Star had to be steadied and shifted in abruptly rounding the turn passing the 1400m, when crowded by Pleasure Bomb (M McGuren), which shifted in when not quite clear. M McGuren was reprimanded (AR137a). Was awkwardly placed when racing in restricted room for some distance inside the 700m, then had to be steadied and shifted out when weakening near the 150m, when crowded by Rehamla (R Jones), which shifted in when not quite clear. R Jones was reprimanded (AR137a).
Onemoreforluck a post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare was experiencing cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr. G Allard was advised that prior to racing again, Onemoreforluck must undergo a veterinary examination inclusive of an electrocardiogram prior to performing satisfactorily in an official barrier trial, then immediately undergoing a veterinary examination to ascertain its suitability to race. Grand Peril slow to begin. Lord Byron began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly shortly after the start and almost dislodged its rider. Song Of Luck missed the start (3L). Race 3: C, G & E Benchmark 58 Handicap 1400m Peyton Place when questioned in relation to her ride inside the 500m. L Day explained that whilst her mount was inclined to lay out slightly, she had formed a view that the surface adjacent to the running rail was inferior, therefore she allowed Peyton Place to drift wider rounding the home turn, however it continued to shift after this due to waywardness. Celtic Tiger slow to begin. Davor began awkwardly with its head up. Race 4: Maiden Plate 1200m Augusta In April slow to begin, then hung in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight. Ancascocha was bumped and shifted out at the start. Southern Strategy a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Charlotte s Heart raced fiercely and hung out during the middle stages. Timid was bumped heavily and became unbalanced at the start. Payday Princess over raced in restricted room in the early stages. Time In Raasay began awkwardly and was slow away. Race 5: F & M Benchmark 58 Handicap 1400m
Balantes raced fiercely in the early stages. Ivory Jane reared at the start and lost ground (2L), had to be checked passing the 1200m when racing fiercely, then over raced during the middle stages. Marfaz when questioned C Lever explained that despite his constant vigour, his mount failed to travel or improve at any stage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Saint Element slow to begin, then raced wide without cover. Race 6: Benchmark 66 Handicap 1600m Shangato trainer Mr. A Denham said that the gelding would be spelled. Ayham a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Cavitation when questioned, G Snowden explained that although the expected leader Ayham set a solid tempo in the early stages, his mount which he had been instructed to obtain a forward position on, travelled comfortably outside the lead and he was reluctant to restrain as Cavitation had shown a tendency in its recent racing to resent racing after being crossed. He said that he gained a strong response from the gelding passing the 400m and it ran to the finish relatively well. Trainer Mr. L Berger confirmed the instructions and said that Cavitation would now be nominated for a 1700m event at Walcha 9/2/19 and he would instruct whoever rode it to lead on its own. St Luke missed the start (3L). Race 7: Class 1 Handicap 1200m Aristobeaux reared over in the enclosure and was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 4.43pm. when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Aristobeaux be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers placed prior to 4.43pm be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Not In The Nick 7 cents Win & 14 cents Place 2 nd Whisper Delovely 14 cents Place 3 rd Legendofoz 10 cents Place Babbinboon Boy weakened in the home straight. Trainer Mrs. M Fleming said that Babbinboon Boy would be spelled.
Pluck And Lucky when questioned G Ryan explained that his mount travelled relatively well during the race, however when Not In The Nick improved sharply around the field, he intended to improve behind Whisper Delovely and when that runner did not go forward quickly, he was forced to shift out and improve wider rounding the home turn than he had anticipated. He added that even allowing for this, in his opinion Pluck And Lucky did not run the race distance out strongly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly was 2/5 lame in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr. A Denham was advised that prior to racing again Pluck And Lucky must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness. Scherzare hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer Mr. B Cavanough said that the gelding would be spelled. Race 8: Open Handicap 1200m Mishani Sleuth a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Medal Afrique slow to begin, over raced during the middle stages, then experienced difficulty obtaining clear running inside the 200m and went to the finish without being fully tested.
