MEETING MINUTES May 2nd 2017 Call to Order: President Richard Fox called the meeting to order at 6:17pm and welcomed the 28 members present. Minutes: The minutes for the April membership meeting as e-mailed to the club membership were approved. Treasurer s Report: Treasurer Steve Primavera presented the treasurer s report through April 30 th, which was accepted by the membership with no comments. National Corvette Museum: NCM Ambassador Don Paulson covered the following topics: The NCM unveiled a One Acre Club display listing all who contributed to the Motorsports Park. The Michelin NCM Bash (April 27-29) featured the roll-out of the 2018 Corvette. It was announced at the NCM Bash that plant tours will be suspended for approximately 18 months with the last tour being June 16 th. Plans for the 2019 Caravan which coincides with the NCM 25 th anniversary have started. 13,000 Vettes are expected to participate. Please review the Ambassador s Report published in the newsletter and website for details. Membership: Membership Chairman Bill Bordwine reported that 62 members have paid for their 2017 membership dues to-date. Show Chairman: Tony Caracciolo stated that a check for our first booth reservation was received by Personal Touch Detailers. Also, 5 attendee pre-registrations have been received. Tony also mentioned that he will be ordering 2018 Corvette Calendars which cover 16 months and reiterated that books still can be purchased at ½ price. Show T-Shirts and Club Polo Shirts can be ordered at the next meeting. Phil Eames covered the following: Old Business: o The number of trophies offered will be expanded. o Members Vettes will be judged separately by the public and show participants (no club members). This is a separate category and does not compete with show entrants. o June will be time spent on building/revamping judging forms and recruiting volunteers for help at the Show. April 8 th : 20 Member Vettes participated in the Azalea Parade chauffeuring dignitaries and celebrities in the parade. It was a fun event and would do it again if asked. Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo expressed his appreciation for the great turnout of Vettes to help with the event. April 12 th : The Return to the NCCAR Race Track went well with everyone participating having a great time exercising their Vettes. The caution flag was used for the first time
because of a stalled race-prepared BMW driven by one of our members who pulled off the track. As improvements are made to our rules through experience; a couple that were discussed were to use a Red Flag in all cases as there is no way to know what the reason is for a car to be off the track and to reinstitute the drivers meeting to review the rules which may be changed or updated. The next proposed meet will be in October. April 22 nd : Vettes Doing Charleston. This show was held at Tanger Outlet in North Charleston, SC. Observations were that there was no main tent for the show crew and that no porta-potties were provided. CFC Show brochures for our upcoming show were handed out to everyone attending. New Business: May 6 th : Pinehurst Concours d Elegance car show. The Pinehurst Show is a world class show and highly recommended to everyone. We have a CFC member, Glenn Healey, that has a car entered this year. May 17 th : A cruise has been organized to visit the patients at the Wilmington Health & Rehabilitation Center again this year. Details will be sent via e-mail. May 27 th : A cruise and dine is being organized to travel to The Country Squire Winery for lunch and free wine tasting. Details will be e-mailed, RSVP will be needed by May 17 th. June 3 rd : The 22 nd Annual Corvettes at Myrtle Beach 2017 show. We need a good showing both for the Participants Trophy and because of the support they give in attending our annual show. A complete list of upcoming shows is in the Newsletter. Open Forum: Tony Caracciolo described his new purchase, a 66-race prepped Corvette with tons of provenance including racing at Nürburgring Race Track. His plans are to make it road worthy, track it and do some autocross. Note that there is a detailed schedule of events listed in the Newsletter. The next meeting will be held June 6 th at the N.E. Library. We will convene at 6:00pm with the meeting starting approximately at 6:15pm. Meeting was adjourned at 7:05pm. Meeting Minutes respectfully submitted by Jerry DiGiovanni, Secretary.

GM Corvette Plant News At the Michelin NCM Bash, GM Corvette Plant Manager Kai Spande made the official announcement that public tours of the plant would not be available for approximately 18 months. The last day for public tours is currently Friday, June 16, 2017. Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter further elaborated on the lack of availability, citing the time needed to tie the new paint shop into the assembly line, and eventually design a new tour route. While Buyers' Tours and Engine Build options are not available for the 2018 model year Corvettes, R8C Museum Delivery is still available, sans the plant tour portion of the package which can be fulfilled once the tours reopen. Kai and Tadge also announced that the plant will be shut down August-October. For those wanting 2018 Corvettes by the end of July the deadline to order is June 12. Corvettes ordered after that date will be built once the plant reopens in November. SEE ME FOR THE $10 RAFFLE TICKETS DRAWING SEPTEMBER 2, 2017
