Mississippi has won eight of 11 games and a win today would give the M-Braves a third-straight series victory for the first time in 2018. This is Pensacola s third and final visit to Trustmark Park this season. Pensacola leads the season series 15-9 and the all-time series 68-67. The M-Braves are coming off a 3-1 series win at Birmingham have won two-straight four-game series (BLX and BIR), 3-1. LAST TIME OUT: The M-Braves and Blue Wahoos went into extra innings for a second-consecutive night with the M-Braves scoring a run in the 10th to win 2-1 in walk-off fashion. Pinch runner Connor Lien raced home on an E2 with one out in the 10th. LHP Ricardo Sánchez matched a career-high with 7.0 scoreless innings while scattering four hits and two walks with six strikeouts during his start for Mississippi. OF Tyler Neslony went 1-for-4 with a home run, his second of the season. STARTING PITCHING: M-Braves starters have a 2.26 ERA (45 ER/179.0 IP) with 195 strikeouts and just 59 walks over the past 31 games (15-16 record) with 20 quality starts dating back to June 10. Starters have recorded a 10+ strikeout game in four of those outings with a 9.80/9IP ratio. BACK-TO-BACK WALK-OFF WINS IN EXTRAS: The Braves won their second-straight extrainning game in walk-off fashion Saturday and are now 4-2 in extra-inning games this season. None of the extra-inning games have gone longer than the 10th inning. The M-Braves are 97-89 all-time in free baseball. WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND: Mississippi improved to 7-0 on Saturday s at home this season and are 18-9 on Saturday s and Sunday s this season, 10-3 at Trustmark Park. CONSISTENT CLOUSE: LHP Corbin Clouse has given up just one run over his last 17 innings and 14 relief outings (0.53 ERA) and just two runs over his last 25 innings and 20 outings (0.72 ERA). ROSTER MOVE: C Alex Jackson was transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday morning leaving the M-Braves roster at 24 players. Jackson, 22, batted.200 (45-for-225) with 12 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 24 RBI in 64 games this season. Jackson has been one of the top defensive catchers in the Southern League this season, posting a.990 fielding percentage, and catching 31.3% of base stealers (31-for-67). THE K MAN, BRUCE ZIMMERMANN: Today s starter, LHP Bruce Zimmermann ranks 5th in MiLB with 119 strikeouts in 17 starts and is 9-3 with a 2.53 ERA in 103.1 innings pitched this season for Rome and Mississippi. Zimmerman s last five outings have been quality starts, four of which he held opponents to just one run. The 23-year-old was promoted to Mississippi from Low-A Rome on June 28.
