SWINE EXHIBITOR RULE CHANGE Swine Exhibitors please note that there is a rule change for the 2017 Shelby County Fair livestock auction. The Shelby County Fair Board decided the following: Any swine weighing less than 225 lbs. will be eligible for show, but not eligible for auction support. They must be returned home at the time of weigh in, or following release at the end of the fair if they choose to participate in the prospect class. It is up to that participant to find an alternative market following fair, as well as transporting those underweight pigs to the marketplace of their choice. With this change in mind, the 4-H Committee & Shelby County Extension Council approved the following: Any swine weighting less than 225 lbs. will be placed in a prospect class for the swine show. Prospect winners will receive division champion/reserve champion ribbons, but will not be eligible to participate in the champion barrow or guilt drive. Prospect class swine will not be eligible to show in a non-prospect pen of three. There will be a prospect pen of three class, should it become necessary.
