Fellow Nomads, We did not have the July newsletter but information for both July and August is herein contained. Our September 2017 game will be at Gaborone on Thursday the 7 th September and this will be our 10 th game of 2017. This leaves us with two more games to close the 2017 chapter. Soon a notice will go out to all our members soliciting for nominations for the position of Vice Captain of our esteemed Nomads Club. We have had one game on Saturday the 10 th June 2017 at Phakalane and it was attended amid mixed feelings. There was also a rugby game that was live on television and most of our guys preferred to go and watch it whilst at home. Our attendance was not far away from being excellent, regardless. We are still to have one more weekend game on Saturday the 7 th October, 2017 at Phakalane. For this particular game we are going to involve all of you in deciding the convenient time to play. We can tee off very early in the morning, mid-morning or afternoon tee off from 12 pm. Majority rules guys, am convinced we will all cooperate and attend in large numbers. The Diamond Challenge was played on the 8 th and 9 th July in Sun City at both the Gary Player and the Lost City Golf Courses. All attendees to these games will be credited with them for make-up games. Start planning for the Northern Challenge to be played on the 28 th and 29 th September in Sun City at the same golf courses. We will make sure the games will also be credited as make up games. The entries are limited and necessary logistics have been put in place already. This will be our second challenge game against the Northerns and it is our turn to organise it. NATIONALS The Swazi Nationals will be held on the 21 st and 22 nd October 2017 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Flag raising will be on Friday 20 th October. All 25 allocated slots have been filled and we still have a few guys on the waiting list. The Botswana Nationals will be on the 15 th and 16 th September 2017 at Gaborone. The Magical Matsieng Tour Nationals promises to be a blockbuster. It has attracted a lot of interest from outside Nomads Clubs and we are going to be oversubscribed. A decision will be made by the Organising Committee whether to cap it at 200 players or 220 players. As of now there are 200 registered players and Botswana has the largest contingent of players registered for the Nationals. Botswana registration will be on Wednesday the 13 th Of September 2017 and flag raising will be on Thursday the 14 th September 2017. 1

Let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the Nomads family although you were inducted as non-playing members. To Venu and Guy thank you for your input in your respective portfolios and to my Committee thumbs up for your support in seeing to it that the running of Nomads club is impeccable. If anyone is still not receiving any communication from the Match Secretary, please get hold of Guy Zondagh and provide him with correct email and cellular numbers. Our prize giving starts at 6.30pm prompt. We have cut down on the time taken to go through prize giving. I would like to urge all those playing on any particular game to stay for prize giving as we finish by 7pm at the latest. Please assist by getting ready to commence prize giving. Everyone can then go on with their respective errands. In addition please assist the scoring team by making sure all the information is filled in the score cards. The lowest player who presents the score cards to the scoring team must not leave the scoring desk until all the information on the handed in cards for the fourball has been verified. Any information missing or not entered correctly will affect the player concerned and the handicap will be drastically reviewed by the handicapping system for worse. 7

ATTENDANCE A big thank you guys, I know the times are hard and the economy is not helping either but we are doing better than other Nomads Clubs. Our attendance has gone down though since May 2017 by 9% and we are averaging 70 players per game. Honestly, we do appreciate it and look forward to more participants and recruitment to increase our numbers albeit with young and vibrant applicants. Our old guards will always pass on the wisdom, thank you for your commitment to this great club. CONCLUSION: I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Botswana Nomads. As we get ready for the The Magical Matsieng Tour Botswana Nationals let us not lose our focus. The Northerns Challenge will be held in two weeks after our Nationals. A month later Swazi Nationals will follow in October and in November we will be voting for the Vice Captains position. All these events herald a new dispensation to propel Nomads even to a greater height amid all the economic, internal and external challenges. For all your queries regarding games and draws etc please contact our Match Secretary, Venu and for issues related with membership and not receiving emails please talk to our Membership Officer, Guy.
