There are now just 15 home games left for the 2017 season. In fact, the Knights have just two homestands left in 2017 after this three-game set. The Knights returned home from a three-game road trip against the Durham Bulls earlier this week, in which they dropped all three games in the series. The Knights beat the G-Braves in the opener, 7-5, to snap a seven-game losing streak (7/27 to 8/3) on Friday. The Knights dropped game two last night by a score of 2-0 and will go for the series win today with a 5:05 p.m. finale from BB&T Ballpark. The Knights enter play today at 46-66 on the season, 23 games back of first place Durham in the IL South Division. ABOUT LAST KNIGHT: RHP Lucas Giolito struck-out seven batters over five shutout innings, but the Charlotte Knights fell to the Gwinnett Braves on Saturday by a score of 2-0 from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. RHP Connor Walsh (0-1, 6.00) started the sixth inning and ran into trouble for the Knights. Walsh ultimately gave up a two-run double to former Charlotte second baseman Micah Johnson, which gave Gwinnett a 2-0 lead at that point. It was all the G-Braves needed to earn the game two victory. ATTENDANCE: The Knights welcomed a sell-out crowd of 10,363 fans through the gates. It was the team s 20th sell-out crowd of the season. Overall in 2017, the Knights have an average attendance of 9,114 per game tops in all of Minor League Baseball this season. The Knights have an overall attendance of 492,142 in 54 openings this year. Earlier this season, the Knights welcomed their 100th regular season Knights sell-out crowd in BB&T Ballpark history (opened April 11, 2014) on Friday, June 30. KNIGHTS VS. G-BRAVES: The Knights enter tonight s game two matchup with a 9-11 record against the G- Braves this season. With the loss last night, the Knights are now 6-7 this season at BB&T Ballpark. 1B Danny Hayes is the current team leader with three home runs against the G-Braves in 2017. 2B Yoan Moncada, who is now a member of the Chicago White Sox, hit four this season against Gwinnett. Overall, the Knights are 27-22 all-time at BB&T Ballpark against the G-Braves. The Knights went 16-11 overall last season head-to-head against Gwinnett. VANDY TEAMMATES: Charlotte RHP Carson Fulmer got the start on Friday for the Knights and faced off against his former Vanderbilt University teammate, Gwinnett 2B Dansby Swanson. In their first encounter on the night, Fulmer, who struck-out seven batters in the game, struck-out Swanson in the first inning. Swanson went 0-for-2 with a walk on the night against Fulmer. The two players played a big role on the 2014 Vanderbilt team that won the College World Series championship. Both later went on to be first round picks in 2015 Fulmer (8th overall with White Sox) & Swanson (1st overall with Arizona). NEARING 400: OF Jason Bourgeois ranks among the all-time franchise leaders in a number of categories. With another hit Thursday in Durham, Bourgeois now has a total of 398 knocks in his Knights career, just two away from the exclusive Knights 400-hit club. Bourgeois is also among the leaders in a number of other categories, including: third all-time in at-bats (1,385), fourth in games played (359), fourth in runs scored (188), second in stolen bases (70), and tied for second all-time in triples with Ken Ramos (11). He s now just one triple away from tying the all-time leader, Jordan Danks (12). A native of Houston, TX, Bourgeois rejoined the Knights last season after playing for the team in 2007 and 2008. In 2013, he was named to the All Knights Stadium Team. He is just one of five players in franchise history with 300 or more hits (Danks, 449, Joe Borchard, 439, Bourgeois, Yolmer Sanchez, 347, and Josh Phegley, 312). CHARLOTTE STARTING PITCHER: RHP Reynaldo Lopez (6-6, 3.65) will get the start for the Knights tonight in the finale his 22nd start of the season.
