LOS ANGELES DODGERS (49-42) at San Diego Padres (4-54) RHP Kenta Maeda (5-5, 3.24) vs. LHP Joey Lucchesi (4-4, 3.27) Wednesday, July 11, 218 7:1 p.m. PT Petco Park San Diego, CA Game 92 Road Game 43 (23-19) Night Game 65 (34-3) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 57 (English)/ KTNQ 12 AM (Spanish) BOUNCE BACK: After having the series tied, 1-1, following last night s 4-1 defeat to the Padres, the Dodgers look to get back on track as they play the third contest of a four-game matchup against San Diego tonight. Despite dropping to 2-3 on its seven-game Southern California road trip, Los Angeles has won six of its nine games played in July, has been victorious in 33 of its last 49 contests since May 7 and has posted a 23-12 (.657) record since the beginning of June, which is the best winning percentage in the National League over that time. Following tomorrow s series finale against the Friars, the Boys in Blue will return home to face the Halos for the annual Freeway Series driven by Lexus, which will close out the first half of the season. The Dodgers have had the upper hand against the Padres this season, winning seven of 11 games. The Boys in Blue have also been successful at Petco Park in recent years, as they have posted a 21-12 record since the 215 campaign, including winning four of their last five games. The Dodgers are 23-19 on the road this season, which gives them the fifth-best winning percentage (.548) in the NL away from home. The Dodgers have won 15 of their last 21 on the road dating back to May 17, dominating the opposition in many categories in that time: Dodgers on the Road Since May 17 (w/ml Ranks) Win Pct. 15-6,.714 (1st) Runs/Game 5.76 (3rd) HR/Game 1.81 (1st) Team SLG.478 (3rd) Team OPS.81 (3rd) The Dodgers have beat the Padres 92 times in the last eight years, which according to Stats LLC., is the most wins by a big league club against any opponent during that span. The Dodgers dropped to 1 games under.5 on May 16 and since then they have gone 33-16, which is the best record in the National League over that time. In his last start on Friday against the Angels, Maeda was solid, allowing one run on three hits and striking out nine against two walks over 5.2 innings as he did not factor in the decision. In Maeda s last eight starts since May 17, the native of Japan is 3-2 with a 2.1 ERA (1 ER/44.2 IP) and a.176 opponents batting average, while punching out 52 against 18 walks. As a starter, he is averaging 1.86 strikeouts per nine innings (96 K/79.2 IP), which currently ranks sixth among National League starters with 15 or more starts. Maeda will face the Padres for the third time this year, all at Petco Park, and for the 11 th time in his career (1 starts), as he has posted a 4-3 career record with a 4.78 ERA (28 ER/52.2 IP) and has struck out 66 batters against just 12 walks. He has also held the Friar s hitters to a.25 average and has posted a 1.16 WHIP. Dodger starters currently rank among the NL s best in strikeoutto-walk ratio (4.34, 1 st ), walks per nine innings (2.2, 1 st ), FIP (3.31, 1 st ), strikeout per nine innings (9.55, 1 st ), WHIP (1.13, 1 st ), ERA (3.35, 1 st ) and strikeouts (58, 3 rd ). ZAC ATTACK: Earlier today, the Dodgers claimed left-handed reliever Zac Rosscup from the Colorado Rockies. Rosscup, 3, has made 1 relief appearances with Colorado s Triple-A Albuquerque this season, giving up just one earned run over 8.1 innings (1.8 ERA) and limiting the opposition to a.133 average. Over four big league seasons with the Cubs (213-15, 17) and Rockies (217), the southpaw has a 3-1 record and has posted a 5.3 ERA (32 ER/54.1 IP) in 71 career Major League games. He has also struck out 67 career batters over 54.1 career innings, posting an 11.1 strikeout per nine innings. Rosscup has limited left-handed batters to a.136 batting average (12-for-88), the third-lowest mark vs. left-handers among active pitchers (min. 1 batters faced). To create room on the 4-man roster, the Dodgers designated lefthanded reliever Edward Paredes for assignment. MATCHUP vs. PADRES Dodgers: 2 nd, NL West (1.5 GB) Padres: 5 th, NL West (12. Muncy, 27, has played a significant role in the Dodgers turnaround, batting.272 with a.412 on-base percentage, 41 runs, 21 home runs and 39 RBI in just 69 games since making his Los Angeles debut on April 17. Entering play today, Muncy leads the National League (min. 2 PA) in OPS (1.29) and home runs per at bat (9.81, 1st ML), while ranking among the league s best in OBP (2nd), SLG (.617, 2nd) and home runs (4th). In his last 3 starts since June 3, Muncy is slashing.311 (32-for- 13)/.47/.738 with 27 runs, 14 home runs, 2 RBI and a 1.28 OPS. During that span, he has reached base safely in 28 games and has drawn 31 walks against striking out 29 times. Muncy, who became just the 16 th Dodger since 195 to hit 2 or more home runs before the All-Star break, swatted his teamleading 21 st home run of the season last night with a solo shot in the ninth inning. The Midland, Texas native will show off his power as he will participate in this year s T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 16 at Nationals Park. A huge debt of gratitude and appreciation go out to the dedicated members of Dodger fan club Pantone 294, who once again pulled an all-nighter, and voted Muncy round the clock in the Dodgers campaign headquarters at Dodger Stadium.
