P a g e 1 NEWSLETTER July/August 2017 Losing weight doesn t seem to be working, so I m going to concentrate on getting taller. According to my weight to height ratio, I should be 9 foot 4 inches. So my weight is okay, its my height that s the problem. I ve decided I ll never get down to my original weight. I m ok with that. After all, 6 lbs. 3 oz. is just not realistic. DATES TO REMEMBER 2017 January 1 December 31 Million Pound Challenge from our President Barb Cady. August 5-17 Officer Training Webinars September 16 Fall Rally WV 0457 Grafton has volunteered to host 2018 May 3-5 SRD, Charleston Marriott Town Center, 200 Lee Street East, Charleston, WV. P a g e 2 July 12-14 IRD, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The theme is Vive TOPS (Celebrate TOPS). 2018 is TOPS 70 th birthday. Come and celebrate with us. Don t forget your passport. If you can t watch the webinar on these dates (or if you forget about it), recordings will be posted in the Members Area for you to review at your leisure. Leaders & Co-Leaders Saturday August 5, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 8, 8:30 p.m. Secretaries & Treasurers Tuesday August 15, 8:30 p.m.

P a g e 3 Weight Recorders & Assistants Thursday August 17, 8:30 p.m. FALL RALLY Fall Rally information was sent out in early July. If you have not received it, please let me know as soon as possible. Fall Rally will be held from 1 3 pm at the Blueville Church of Christ in Blueville. The church is located on 119 near the intersection of 50 and 119. Chapters will again be allowed to bring a basket (or other item) to raffle off as a fund raiser for their chapter. MILLION POUND CHALLENGE At IRD 2017 it was announced that Canadian TOPS members lost 65,583.60 pounds; US TOPS members lost 277,714.70 pounds, and all KOPS (US and Canadian) had a total of 544,743.50 pounds. As of July 1, US and Canadian TOPS and KOPS members had lost a grand total of 888,052.80 pounds. Barb Cady challenged all of us to strive for a million and a half pounds. She really wants this so she can brag to Weight Watchers about how awesome we all are. Those of you who have already lost 10 pounds don t have to stop there. Keep losing. Those of you who have lost 5 pounds at the half-way point (June 30) have another six months to lose an additional 5 pounds. Those of you who haven t lost anything still have six months (26 weeks) to lose 10 pounds. KOPS members just need to remain a KOPS and not lose status. In December you don t have to do anything special to participate. Your chapter s weight loss will be recorded when your Weight Recorder sends your resume to your Coordinator. OVER 40 YEAR CLUB The following members have belonged to TOPS for over 40 years.

P a g e 4 WV 0221 Tunnelton Geraldine Johnson 40 years as of 6/14/2017 WV 0319 Fairmont Barbara Cady 50 years as of 7/31/2017 NEW MEMBERS Welcome to our new members: WV 0534 Morgantown WV 0202 Burton WV 0420 Kingwood WV 0070 Fairmont Wanda M. Newbrough HEALTH FAIRS If you know of any health fairs being held in your area, please let me know. TOPS does not advertise and having a display table at health fairs is one way for your field staff to advertise the benefits of belonging to TOPS. Don t worry; you won t be required to attend with me (unless you want to). WEB DESIGNATES A reminder that web designate emails are deleted as of July 15. If your chapter has a web designate, be sure to submit your L-001 Officer Chart to Judy Pruett as soon as possible after your elections so your web designate s email can be added.

P a g e 5 CHAPTER VISITS Now that the weather is getting nicer, I will be contacting each chapter soon to arrange a visit to present the 2017 Area Captain program. This year s program is entitled Tune Up With TOPS. But you don t have to wait until I contact you. You are welcome to call me and schedule a visit. COORDINATOR Please remember we do not have a Coordinator yet. All mailings (except membership forms) should be sent to our Regional Director Judy Pruett, 1444 Glenbrooke Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24503-3953. Membership forms should be sent to: TOPS Club, Inc., ATTN: Memberships, PO Box 070360, Milwaukee, WI 53207 NEW MEMBER COACH New Member Coach, Greeter, whatever you call the position. Each chapter should have someone (or several someones) designated to be available to answer questions from new members. GET INVOLVED IN YOUR CHAPTER Leaders, you don t have to do everything yourself. Have members sign up each week to present a program instead of you doing them all yourself. Have a Program Committee responsible for doing programs for 2-3 months.
