SECTION 3. EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE Oral: May be harmful if inhaled. May be corrosive to respiratory passages. No significant irritation expected from a single exposure. Small amounts transferred to the mouth by fingers during use, etc. is not likely to cause harmful effects. Swallowing large amounts may be harmful and cause burns of the mouth, throat and stomach, discomfort, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Prolonged/Repeated Exposure Effects Effects of Chronic Exposure: For purposes of chronic exposure under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, these are untested mixtures. These products have been used extensively by consumers and no significant adverse effects have been noted when used normally. Target Organs: Carcinogen Status: Oral: Eye: Oral: Comments: This product contains ethanol. Alcoholic beverage consumption has been associated with brain damage, heart damage, and pancreatitis in humans. The relevance of these findings to ethanol exposure in industrial environments is uncertain. Overexposure to ethanol has been suggested as a cause of the following effects in laboratory animals: Pancreatic damage, liver damage, brain damage, and testis damage. In humans overexposure has been suggested as a cause of the liver damage. OSHA: No NTP: No IARC: No No evidence of harmful effects from available information. No significant irritation expected from a single exposure. Breathing large amounts may be harmful. Small amounts transferred to the mouth by fingers during use, etc. should not injure. Swallowing large amounts may be harmful and cause digestive discomfort and diarrhea. SECTION 4. FIRST AID MEASURES Rinse with water to remove. Remove contact lenses, if used. SECTION 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Flash Point: Auto-ignition Temperature: 97 F No data available. Flammability Limits in Air: Do not use near fire or flame. Do not store at temperatures above 120 deg F. The container contains flammable ingredients. If container is broken, flammable liquid will be released. Never use welding or cutting torch on or near cans (even empty) because product (even just residue) can ignite explosively. During fire, irritating or toxic decomposition products may be generated. Extinguishing Media: Fire Fighting Procedures: Unusual Fire Hazards: Hazardous Decomposition Products: Water Mist/Fog, Carbon Dioxide, Alcohol Resistant Foam, and Dry Chemical. Self-containing breathing apparatus and protective clothing should be worn in fighting large fires involving chemicals. Shut off all ignition sources. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. Apply cooling water to sides of containers that are exposed to flames until well after fire is out. Use flooding amounts of water as fog. Cool product containers with flooding amounts of water from as far a distance as possible. Avoid breathing vapors; keep upwind. As with any containerized or pressurized chemicals, in the event of overheating or direct flame contact, evacuate the area to minimize hazard of potential explosion. Not expected. Carbon oxides and traces of incompletely burned carbon compounds may be present. SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES General: Avoid uncontrolled releases of this material. Where spills are possible, a comprehensive spill response plan should be developed and implemented. Spills should be contained, solidified and placed in suitable containers for disposal in a licensed facility. SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling: Storage: Flammable. Do not use near fire or flame. Do not store at temperatures above 120 deg F. Keep out of reach of children. Keep container closed. Avoid eye contact. Provide sufficient ventilation and avoid prolonged skin contact. Do not place cans in trash compactor. Pressurized container. Do not Puncture. Keep container closed and away from heat and flame sources. Since emptied containers retain product residues, all hazard precautions given in this MSDS must be observed. Page 3 of 6
