INTRODUCTION Revacil is a three part chlorine free programme for the treatment of domestic swimming pools. REVACIL Based on poly hexamethylene biguanide. A powerful biocide which is active against a wide range of microorganisms. REVATOP Contains hydrogen peroxide. A powerful oxidant of organic substances. It eliminates all food necessary for algae growth and clarifies the pool water. REVA-BLUE Contains Quaternary Ammonium Compound. A small weekly dose will add a sparkle to your pool water and control algae growth. REVACIL BENEFITS COMFORT REVACIL * ODOUR FREE * TASTE FREE * NO IRRITATION * By using the recommended doses EASY REVACIL * EASIER MAINTENANCE * LESS FREQUENT CHECKS REVACIL IS ECOLOGICAL * THE TREATED WATER CAN BE USED FOR GARDENING REVACIL IS SAFE * MANY USERS REVACIL IS ECONOMIC * REVACIL CONSUMPTION IS NON- EXISTANT WHEN POOL IS NOT USED *Unaffected by ultraviolet rays * Unaffected by heat *Does not corrode equipment REVACIL IS PROTECTIVE * EFFECTIVE EVEN ON THE SURFACE HARMLESS TO THE HUMAN BODY REVACIL IS FUN * AN EXCEPTIONAL, SPARKLING POOL The programme is convenient and easy to use, it has many advantages over conventional systems such as chlorine and bromine. This users guide has all the information you require for starting up and maintaining your pool using the Revacil programme. Your pool shop will be pleased to assist you further should the need arise. Precautions must be taken when storing and handling pool chemicals. Refer to the safety guidelines on page 6 and always read the information on the label of each product. - 1
START UP PROCEDURE - Pools previously treated with chlorine or bromine Revacil is not compatible with chlorine and bromine based products and should not be mixed in pool water. Chlorine/bromine must be neutralised using Stop Chlore before Revacil is added. 1. Remove chlorine or bromine source, i.e. chlorine tablets, electrolytic system if fitted. Make no further addition of chlorine based products. 2. Brush and vacuum the pool and run filter for 24 hours. Clean and backwash the filter. If the filter has not been chemically cleaned for 6 months use Reva Filter cleaner. If the sand is more than 3 years old it is recommended that it should be changed at this stage. 3. To neutralise the chlorine in your pool. Dissolve Stop Chlore in a bucket of warm water at the rate of 250gm per 50m³ pool water and pour solution slowly into the pool near to return inlets. 4. Run filter for 24 hours, check to see if chlorine is completely removed. If not repeat the procedure. 5. Check and adjust the ph if necessary, using Reva Minus or Reva Plus - see fig. 1 for correct ph levels. 6. Calculate the volume of your pool so that you can determine the correct amount of chemicals to use-see page 6. 7. Ensure the pool pump is running and the water is circulating. Add to the pool water near to the return inlet: 0.5 litres Revacil per 10m³ pool water 25 millilitres Reva-Blue per 10m³ pool water 8. Run filter continuously for 24 hours, then using the Test Kit, check and adjust the level of Revacil - see fig. 2. The level should be maintained between 30-50ppm with D45 on the Test Kit colour scale the ideal reading. 9. The pool is now ready for use. 10. Filter pool water according to water temperature - see fig. 3. 11. The frequency at which Revatop is added will depend on water temperature - see fig.3. START UP PROCEDURE -New or freshly filled pools 1. Check the ph, adjust as necessary - see fig.1. 2. Check the total alkalinity and calcium hardness levels and adjust as necessary.refer to water balance on page 4 for further guidance. 3. Repeat steps 7 to 11 as shown above. Weekly pool maintenance 1. Brush and vacuum the pool. 2. Backwash the filter for 3 to 5 minutes. 3. Clean water line. 4. Check and adjust the ph. 5. Check and adjust the level of Revacil see fig. 2. The concentration should be maintained at 45ppm/50ppm. (D45 on the test kit colour scale). 6. Add a maintenance dose of Reva-Blue. 7. The frequency at which Revatop is added will depend on water temperature - see fig.3. Winterisation 1. Remove leaves and debris from the pool water; these can cause staining if not removed. 2. Check the ph, adjust as necessary - see fig. 1. 3. Add 1 litre of Revatop per 10m³ pool water. Leave for 12 hours. 4. Check and adjust the level of Revacil - see fig. 2. The concentration should be maintained at 45ppm/50ppm. (D45 on test kit colour scale). Leave for 12 hours. 5. Pour the required quantity of Reva-Winter (see pack for deatils) into the pool near to the return inlet and leave filter system running for 2 hours or one turnover period. 6. Lower the water to just below the skimmer mouth(s) so that the skimmers and their suction lines can be drained. - 2 -

WATER BALANCE Water balance is the term used to describe the interaction of water temperature, ph, total alkalinity and calcium hardness. Pool water which is not correctly balanced can either be corrosive or scale forming. Your Revacil retailer will be pleased to undertake these tests for you and advise on chemicals required to achieve correct water balance. ph. The term ph is used to indicate the basic or acidic nature of water and should be maintained at ph 7.0 to 7.8 in a Revacil heated pool see fig. 1. Total Alkalinity. T.A refers to the amount of alkaline material in your pool water. This acts as a buffering agent and helps to control ph. Water with low T.A is sensitive to ph changes and bounces from high to low as you try to adjust ph. It also tends to be corrosive and irritating to eyes. A level of between 80 to 120 ppm should be maintained in a Revacil heated pool. Tac Plus will increase total alkalinity. Reva Minus will reduce total alkalinity Calcium Hardness. Total hardness refers to the amount of calcium and magnesium carbonate in the water. Low calcium hardness causes plaster etching and equipment corrosion. High calcium hardness can lead to scaling and cloudy water. Maintain a level of between 100 to 250 ppm. Above 250 ppm add Stop Calcaire. Below 100 ppm add TH Plus. REVACIL TEST KIT The level of Revacil and ph value should be checked weekly during the swimming season. A test kit is available to measure these two parameters comes complete with instructions for use. COMPATIBLE PRODUCTS The following products are compatible with the Revacil programme products and can be safely used. Stop Chlore Reva Minus Reva Plus TH Plus Reva Klar Reva Net Stop Calcaire Revatop Reva-Blue Reva Filter Cleaner Reva-Winter IMPORTANT: Only use products that are recommended by your Revacil retailer. INCOMPATIBLE PRODUCTS Many chemicals that work well with chlorine or bromine may not necessarily work with the Revacil system. Always check with your retailer before buying any chemicals other than those recommended for use in this guide. Algicides - Copper based long-life algicides for summer or winter use.
