By Regional Executive, Tony Brown HERE WE ARE!! In the middle of the summer with a TON of opportunities to get out and be involved in motorsports!! Our next membership meeting is coming up on July 16 th and is once again at our normal stomping grounds of the Mill Race Banquet Center at 8PM. Last month we had a great presentation on high speed photography from Jeff Loewe who shared his love and expertise of the process to create lasting memories for us to enjoy! Thanks again Jeff! Once again mark your calendar for our next meeting on July 16th! Our autocross events are deep into their Point s Event schedule. And things are getting ready to be ratcheted up another level with the finishing touches having been made on approval with the Wilmington Air Park to utilize the pad site. The Cincinnati Region will be playing host to autocross competitors from around the country for the Northern States Championship stop on the 2013 SCCA SOLO Championship Tour on August 3 rd & 4 th. There will also be an additional Test & Tune and Fun Event scheduled for the weekend prior (July 27 th & 28 th ) on the pad site. More details can be found further in this issue and on our website. HUGE congratulations to Paul Williams and Dennis Barnes for solidifying our arrangements with the Wilmington Air Park and securing our interests for current and future opportunities with this site! Our marquee Road Race event is right around the corner and registration is OPEN for all of the 2013 I.T. Spectacular Weekend (August 9 th 11 th ) events at Mid-Ohio including the Race, PDX and Time Trial! And if you are interested in volunteering to work the event at Mid-OH please check in with Jerry Cabe and Todd Cholmondeley! Also details are available for an advance tech inspection to be held on July 20 th, check this CinChronizer issue and our website for details Which brings me to an important update about our Cincinnati Region website forum. If you were a regular visitor to our old forum site, you recently saw that the host site (autocrossforum.com) went berserk, kablooey and then bye-bye. For a while the forum had been run on auto-pilot as the owners of the host site had basically left it deserted and now it is gone. But never fear, our webmaster Bryan Schafer has found (continued inside) CinChronizer Advertising Rates Business card-$200/year 1/6 th Page -$300/Year Quarter Page -$500/Year Classifieds(3 Months) are free to members All ads Expire 12/31 & are pro-rated by the month.

John Peterson The Great Lakes Division and Cincinnati SCCA lost one of our most dedicated race officials in May, as John Peterson passed away from colon cancer. John started in SCCA in 1972 as a crew member for a friend. He joined Western Ohio Region where he served as treasurer and race chairman as well as working as a Starter for club events. Later after moving to the Cincinnati area K.C. Van Niman (50 year Cincinnati Region Member, 2 x R.E. with considerable National SCCA experience) recruited John into the steward program. K.C. provided a little background on John s original involvement with the SCCA. I met John at Hamilton Airport. As you probably know he was a corporate pilot for a Hamilton Veneer company. He had a keen interest in sports car racing, became a member of the Cincinnati Region. He was the Starter for many of our races and had interest in Stewarding. To prepare for that role he entered a driver s school. He eventually became the Executive Steward for the Central Division and in my humble opinion did a sterling job in that role. Cincinnati Region has lost a key member to join other great Cincy people at the final race in the sky. John was serious about Club Racing but could demonstrate a somewhat raucous demeanor away from the job. I for one will miss him. In addition to John s devotion to his duties he was also there for a good time and there are many an entertaining story regaling John s adventures which I will leave to those who witnessed them to tell. A ceremony to honor John s memory will be held in the Mid Ohio infield during the lunch break on August 10th, 2013. A tree and plaque will be placed in the memory grove that honors those who have made a lasting impact on the sport of racing at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. (continued from front page) us a new home! If you do not already have a sccaforums.com log-in ID, the process to create one is quick and painless! Thanks again to Bryan and the fine folks of sccaforums.com for finding us a new home to chat! So I hope you are ready for the busiest time period of our season! If you see something you would like to get involved in but haven t tried it yet, contact one of our event chairs or send me a message! Remember, this is YOUR club, enjoy it! See you soon where the rubber meets the road, Tony Brown "If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough - M. Andretti

Do you know what year this photo was taken at Mid-Ohio? If you guessed 1969, you re right! Starting next month the CinChronizer will feature a new column Many Memories featuring Roger Many (member since 1958) as he muses on such items as the origin of the Region's Logo, past race tracks, memorable experiences, etc. Shari McCoy starts Kumar Viswalingam at the June Solo at Turfway Park Rob Bax is driving the Nissan this year and made the Super Tour at Mid-Ohio in June Bill Niemeyer has a new ride for 2013 Tom Patton at the SCCA Super Tour

Bryan Schafer set FTD at the Tri- Region Challenge in Connersville Indiana Steve Jenks finished two days of the SCCA Super Tour at Mid-Ohio on top in Formula Mazda both days Hey Guys, The Cincinnati Region SCCA relies on membership to keep going and we can always use your help promoting the club. If you plan on attending any car related events and want to provide some information about the SCCA please contact me. I have SCCA brochures and flyers that you can give out to prospective new members. Thanks, Brian Walker briax7@yahoo.com

2013 Club Race News By Jerry Cabe The Cincy Region s big August Club Race event is quickly approaching. August 9-11 is going to be the PDX, Club Trial, and IT/SPEC*tacular. The Race Committee is working hard to plan for this event to be a resounding success, building off prior years. Registration has been open for about 6 weeks, and as of 7/11/13 we have 36 signed up for the PDX on Friday, 5 for the Club Trial on Saturday, 52 for the Club Races on Saturday and 58 for the Club Races on Sunday. You can register for any of these events on-line at www.motorsport Reg.com or by paper entry by contacting our Chief Registrar, Todd Cholmondeley, at tefkatt@aol.com or 513-528-9217. There are a lot of members that have stepped forward and are helping to put this event on, but we can always use more. Please contact Todd, Brian Walker, or myself if you can offer some time. The next Race Committee meeting is scheduled for 7:30 PM, July 15 th at Pomidori s in Montgomery. All who wish to contribute are welcome. Come join the Cincinnati Region and Bob Cowie in the fight against ALS by buying dinner at Quaker Steak and Lube ( State Rt. 50 and I-275) July 29th from 5pm to 8 pm. The Quaker Steak folks have been so kind as to donate a portion of the receipts to ALS in memory of Judy Cowie. Cincinnati Region filled an entire room last year. Two this year? Bob is also seeking race theme items for the annual silent auction for ALS being held in garage #1 at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course during the I.T.SPEC*tacular weekend Aug 9th-11th. If interested in donating an item contact Bob at 513-625-5584. News from our Neighbors: We will be having a limited entry event on Saturday, July 27th. Right now it's scheduled as a test and tune, but other formats have been proposed. Current theme is $75 per person capped at 50 people. We'll also be having a fun event on Sunday, July 28th with an entry cap of 175 and will have standard pricing. Registration for both events will be posted as soon as we have contracts from the airport, which should be coming shortly. The National Tour registration is above 230 people now. That event runs the follow Friday - Sunday, 8/2-4. Registration for the tour is $105 and gets you 3 runs each on Saturday and Sunday.
