Comments Number Response Near impossible to make contact with certain organisers before the meeting through e-mail/facebook. The website lacked information until the last couple of weeks and it was quite difficult to search for the site through normal search engines. The water in plastic cups isn t ideal when you re running, bottles I know can be costly but are much better. The marshals enthusiasm despite the wind and rain was absolutely fantastic and kept runners spirits high. Massive thanks to them all. 1 It was a shame that some motorists/pedestrians/cyclists were inconsiderate and still felt they had to drive obstruct the course despite the 'road closure' signs the marshals were good though and kept the impact to a minimum. Good course route and not too monotonous for the 4 laps. Hopefully more runners will participate in future years and the event will get bigger as the 'buzz' of more runners would really add to the atmosphere. I think it definitely needs to be advertised better though. I only found out through a colleague but I then got 3 others to participate so worth the advertising. 2 3 4 5 6 7 Big thanks to the marshal with the jelly babies!! Enjoyed the warm up session before the race. Would have been nice to finish in the City Park itself if it could be arranged but good for spectators that the route went around the City Park I feel that there was too many hills which could prove to be a reason to put of beginners so there for would take away some of the enjoyment. But the one thing that really stood out was the lack of mile markers. What markers that were out there was marked in metric which does not help me when I was brought up with imperial numbers. So it would be nice if you could address these problems. Otherwise it was a great race and I felt like many runners that we had earned our medal as well as our very nice tee shirt so I would like to thank you for all your efforts regarding all the runs that were on offer last Sunday. Could be improved to include shower facilities, and also perhaps a bit of chocolate or something for after the half-marathon to get a bit of energy back. also, the route could have been slightly less hilly, because with the wind and rain we endured it made it very difficult The handing out of prizes at the end was a bit chaotic (not helped by the weather - perhaps a gazebo or 2 here would have helped), and in the sudden downpour I forgot to pick up my medal (the pre-race info didn't mention a medal so I wasn't expecting one). The start wasn't 'penned' as advertised - I presume because the numbers were quite low. Hopefully getting the distance right will improve attendance form club runners next time. I loved the challenging course, even as a middle range runner but if the last 20m could have been flat instead of uphill the sprint finish would have been even more spectacular! The improvement from the previous year was noticeable well done to all involved. More for the spectators and supporters to get involved in maybe... 1) My Garmin watch measured the course as 13.27 miles; 2) On the extra loop of the half, I think that there should have been more marshalling/signage - as I wasn't always confident I was taking the right route; 3) Unfortunately, I had to intervene on the course when 3 youths on bikes were giving a fellow runner some abuse. I then received abuse. I reported the issue to the nearest marshal.

8 9 I thought that overall the event was well organised. The course was better than last year for me personally as I am not a "hard core" runner and the gentler climb up through the university was a better route. Overall the marshals were very good, especially those who were clearly from running clubs or were runners - I am used to running parkruns where encouragement given by marshals is great - this was the same for those who had a running background but a lot of the stewards gave little or no encouragement to runners. Signing in was good. The timings weren t good as they were altered online after a few days, and I'm not really sure which was right. I had noticed the clock was running by the time we set off so I'm not sure which time I was given is right. Much better than last year. maybe more could be put on to make it a run+ event which would bring in people to the local area and to businesses around city square - e.g. running clubs promoting membership, sign up for other Bradford 10k, Highly enjoyable however I did feel there was a lack of first aiders (only positioned toward the start stop sections, from what I saw) and water stops were again only by the start of the run nothing in-between which meant you had to provide your own bottled water if you required a drink along the route. Also there were no bag storage sections other than handing them over a table to a staff member. Overall a good experience, as it was my first time! I am glad that I was able to state in an interview with local radio, after the race, how impressed I was by the quality of stewarding and the organisation of the race. Stewards' encouraging words during the race 10 and general good humour really enhanced the experience. I take part in lots of 10k races - this is one of the best. Thank you. 11 The value of the vouchers given as prizes could be increased 12 I really liked the race, but it was a shame that there weren't more people doing it. I didn't know it was happening until a few days earlier when I received a leaflet through the post (from a charity). Had I been aware, I would've done more training and entered a longer distance. Also, I would've persuaded a few running friends to join me. 13 BETTER COURSE 14 I cannot think of any improvements at this moment in time as I think it was well managed as the runners were going round. 15 Course for half marathon needs to be more varied. 16 The Marshall's were excellent, especially the jelly bean lady, thank you for the support it was needed. 17 Send race pack out with number, chip and info prior to race day, or at least provide pens on the day to fill in the info on back of number. One small cup of water on each lap was not adequate for half marathon, a bottle would have been better so it could be kept hold of a little longer. 4 laps of the same course was not good for a half marathon, especially when the 5 and 10k finish and you still have 2 more laps - very monotonous. It would be better for future events if there were mile markers for half marathon as I don't use kilometres when doing half marathon distances. 18 Excellent first time event for me. Enjoyed the warm up. Well organised. Thank you :) 19 More advertising, as wouldn't have known if not for a friend, and I work in town but never saw any info about it. After I d entered I found out it was only 4 laps of the city centre so I didn't run! 20 21 22 In 2011 the race went up to Thornton and back, that was a half marathon sorry, but that s how I feel! Excellent event. Well organised. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Thank you to all those who stood in the rain and wind cheering all of us on as we passed your stations :-) It did take some time to view the results online. I believe this was down to the chip company and not the organisers, however left me waiting longer than informed and hoped. Probably seemed worse as it was my first ever race and really keen to find out my time.

23 An extra water point on Thornton road and better signage on the extra bit for the half. It felt a bit lonely up there! Course barriers put up late delayed race start. A waved start for different running Times would've been 24 better and more signs for official tables/stalls as unclear who was who including officials. 25 Didn t like the 360 degree turn other than that - superb! 26 Just keep it to 5K and 10K or add a 15K race, which are pretty rare I ran the 10K, I always run to my average pace on my Garmin. I thought I would be on a pace to me 49mins. 27 I was very disappointed that when I saw my time of 50.33,and my Garmin was showing 6.48 miles for the 10k that is 400 metres over distance, on checking with other runners they was recording the course long. As you know a 10k is 6.21miles. 28 I hope we was not over compensating for last year s short course. Events marshals around the course (paid ones) not very supportive. Need more club runners marshalling for support. There was only on water station. A second would have very beneficial to most half marathon runners. 29 The volunteers around the course and the water station were superb. 30 well organized Excellent and easy for disabled people to be involved. Great atmosphere and everyone was very helpful 31 and supportive. Many thanks from a visually impaired "athlete" Although the public support was sparse due to weather the marshals were very friendly and encouraging 32 and it was they who made the event for me. Thank you! 33 results on your web site asap and or on john schfields site Posting out race numbers etc. would be better. 34 Extra 1K loop route was uninspiring Rather than the top 3 getting a prize-maybe the top 10 as well? 35 36 37 38 Although, giving medals to us all was very appreciated The results could be better. Some races will text directly after the event and provide more data, such as gun time and chip time and age adjusted performance levels etc. There are 3 runners in my group and we all always desperate to see the results as quickly as possible. I have raced in Italy for the past 4years and I think you could do better to make people come to this event lots of changes need to be done I enjoyed the race but the event was very poor The results are wrong!!! A couple of my friends are not even included and the times are wrong. Mine is out by 50s and so is my wife's. Route is ok for 5k and 10k but I wouldn't care to go round 4 times as some poor folk had to. Marshalling a lot better than last year! 39 I would have preferred to have received my chip through the post. The collection system worked really well on the day, however, if the race becomes very popular collecting could lead to long delays. 40 Change the half marathon loop as it created marshalling problems. Do it on the first lap or in a different area. 41 As a runner, Water available after the race but I would have liked access to some water before the race. Perhaps it was, but I couldn t find it. 42 More publicity from local press to make it a bigger event

43 44 45 46 47 Perhaps not run 4 laps of same course, could arrange half marathon around city? Or between 2 parks (Lister and Peel?) The marshals were excellent please thank them a lot! Next year maybe make the finish line more of a big deal e.g. balloons? (I appreciate it was very windy this year) The marshals did a fantastic job!! It could probably be advertised in the local press a little bit more. I think there would have been a better turn out with more advertising. A lot of Organisation obviously went into the Event, which was much appreciated...the marshals in particular were excellent. It's a shame there were comparatively few Runners... it would have had much more buzz with more. There seemed a definite lack of Runners from the North Yorkshire Clubs & those I spoke with about it at Harrogate Parkrun did not realise it was taking place. But hopefully the Event will grow... it deserves to be a mass participation event. I particularly liked the 4 Lap element of the course, as you knew what was coming after Lap 1 & could gear yourself up for the Hills & the downhill straight which was exhilarating to run down. Thank you for Organising & good luck in the future. Chris Aldred. This was much better than last year. From race distance to the friendliness of marshals! Other than being able to control weather (!)... Nothing to be improved on. 48 It was well arranged everyone knew their roles. Well done. Only we from out of Bradford had difficulty at locating the car park. 49.very good course and well marshalled. Well done to the organisers. The water stop was at the top of a hill just as you were gaining momentum again to go down. It just threw 50 me off my stride a bit as I had to walk to drink out of the cups. Maybe it could be moved closer toward the hill you ran up to get there or at the bottom of the hill you run down after the water stop. I was surprised there were so few entrants. System for prizes seemed a bit chaotic. Generally good and 51 friendly 52 more runners 53 If you would like more runners, I think the event could be publicised much wider, I wouldn't have known about it until very near the date if I hadn't have had an e-mail about it due to doing Bradford city 10k in Dec. Many thanks A thoroughly enjoyable race which, overall, was well marshalled and well organised. A couple of points which could be improved on however: 54 55 56 - The extra 1K loop for the half-marathon runners wasn't sign-posted enough so some runners followed roadwork road signs which cut the 1K short by about 500m - Since there are multiple laps, it would be nice to have a 5K, 10K, 15K breakdown in the results. Better weather next time would be favourite! Marshals were brilliant, thanks for their encouragement. It needs better publicity and the only way that works in Bradford is working with as many organisations as possible esp. charities instead of narrowing it to the odd few. This event deserves to have 3000 participants not 300. Incentives like 1 per entry to those who get someone. Signed up is good. and I m willing to do it 57 Less hills more sunshine!! Brilliant event, very well organised, marshals were great in the horrid weather. Would be a better experience with more people running, 58 Number of entries seem low compared to other similar events send race numbers & chips out in the post so we can fill them in and pin them on before arriving at city 59 park

60 Pre-race organisation wasn't the best, and we couldn't hear anything the race starter was saying. 61 Better parking. 62 There are a lot nicer areas within the district of Bd1 that could have been included. Listerhills and the university are not the nicest. But I do understand the need to keep costs down. Maybe incorporate lister park, little Germany etc. Though I do think the city park is a great start and finish. I did like the old run up to Thornton because it was interesting. 63 Sort the timing system out, false PBs are pretty pointless! 64 Think you all did a good job. Was a hard course but a challenge so well done to you all and thanks! 65 The website wasn't great, finding information was a bit tough. The race itself was great though! Would definitely do again in the future 66 make it less repetitive for the half marathoners 67 This was very well organised. The marshals were outstanding and deserve a lot of praise for their enthusiasm and encouragement, and for being there in such awful conditions! 68 More organised start. Thought we were going to be setting off in batches but turned out we were all setting off together. Couldn't hear if there were any instructions. The Marshall's organisers were brilliant. To turn out in the strong wind and wet conditions to help and support the runners was truly wonderful so a big thanks to one and all. 69 My first 10k and first competitive run. The biggest downer for me was the route. Far too many slopes none of which were gentle. The highway in large sections was in a very poor state of repair and the circular nature of the route which meant just going round and round on the same boring stretch of Tarmac was wholly uninspiring. Bradford has so much to offer both in terms of routes and scenery and this route lacks any kind of imagination period. Come on organisers surely WE CAN DO BETTER. If it's a circular route we want I'd take running through LISTER PARK for example any day... I hope you will carefully review this route for that apart the event was superb. 70 71 Many thanks Marshals were excellent. All very supportive thank you. Water should be in bottles not cups. Can't drink from cup on the run Whilst I thought the format of three races at once was good, it was difficult starting at the same time as 5&10k runners as from behind you didn't know what race people were doing and ended up trying to "race" people who were doing a much shorter race. I don't think much can be done about this and like I said the concept of three races at once is quite novel. It was a very enjoyable day. 72 73 Oh, if you could somehow make Bradford less hilly that would be good too! On the information sheets, put on where we will find the pictures from the day and online results if they are available? Last year the race wasn't the right distance. This year my time wasn't included in the results even though I handed in my timing chip. 2 years of disappointment - will never trust this event again. Very poor.
