2014 Winter Olympics Picture Matching Cards By Stephenie McBride Crestview Heights Academy
Hello and thank you for purchasing this product! Nomenclature cards (Picture Matching Cards) are traditionally used in Montessori programs as a way to teach vocabulary and beginning reading. If you wish to use the cards in this way, you will want to print them on cardstock or back them with cardstock or other stiff paper. If you have access to a laminator, laminating the cards will greatly increase their durability. Nomenclature cards are sometimes called three part cards because you cut them into three pieces. The piece with the photo and the word on the same card is the control card. Children can use it to correct their own work after matching the separate photo and word. My children do this activity as part of our workbox system. Nomenclature cards used in Montessori programs are presented using a three part lesson. First, you show the child the card and word and tell him or her what the object is and the word says. Next, you have the child point to the object or word when you say it. Finally, you ask the child to name the object and word, or to match the object and the word. Some other possible uses for nomenclature cards include: 1. Printing the pages on regular paper and use them to make a beginning reader 2. Flashcards 3. Adding them to a lapbook as either a booklet or memory cards in a pocket 4. Using them to make file folder games 5. Playing go fish or rummy 6. Copywork or handwriting lessons 7. Making a picture dictionary 8. Pocket-chart matching 9. Concentration If you enjoyed these cards please check out the rest of my items at Currclick.com (http://www.currclick.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=494) and my blog at http://crestviewheights.wordpress.com/.
