May is a great month to show your love for the City and we invite you to engage with us in three ways! First, Each year we take the time to pause and celebrate our City with a day dedicated to our history, culture and diversity. That Day is this Saturday for Mount Rainier Day! The Day starts with a parade, continues with a melody of various bands, plenty of vendors displaying the great things they have to offer along with food and games for the kids. We hope that you take the opportunity to stop by and say Hello and participate with us as we celebrate over 100 years of Mount Rainier history. Secondly, with our lives becoming increasingly busy with multi-tasking our Friends of Peace want you to dedicate the month of May towards peace and peaceful living. Inside you will read how you can strive towards inner peace each day. Lastly, this month is also Bike Month and we invite you to take one day to travel by bike this Mayor Malinda Miles month as we continue to strive towards our sustainability goals and objectives. Bike Month challenges each one of us to do our part to continue to reduce our carbon footprint. Not only is bike riding healthy for the environment but it encourages Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) within the City. We have many places where you can park your bike and are developing plans to incorporate more bike friendly enhancements. They will assist us towards keeping our streets pedestrian and bike friendly while linking the pathways through signage to other places in the area. Our bike coop encourages you to stop by and take a look at bikes for sale, utilize the shop for your bike repairs, volunteer for community service hours and engage with others in creating bike groups that can travel together. Happy Mount Rainier Day!
