Along the way... CEPAGATTI From the Tower of the Castle in Cepagatti you can see the sea on one side and the high peaks of the Apennines, symbol of our region. This village tells us its story, about its traditions, its history, the surrounding landscape, immersed in the Valley of the Nora, lush and fertile, embracing the whole hinterland of Pescara. This land full of historical signs enchants the visitors and testifies how different traditions and visions have merged into today s Abruzzo. There is a Cepagatti dating back to the Ancient Rome but also a medieval village with the Castle and its Lords and a fertile land, between vineyards and grain, that provides excellent products of the soil. PIANELLA Pianella is the city of olive oil and with the villages of Loreto Aprutino and Moscufo forms the so-called Golden Triangle of Oil : an area where the geomorphological and microclimatic peculiarities allow the production of extra virgin olive oil Aprutino Pescarese PDO with extraordinary chemical and organoleptic qualities. Since 2006 Pianella is member of Città slow, an international network of cities with a high quality of life; this movement was born in 1999 with the purpose to spread the Slow Food philosophy in local communities and governments, applying the concepts of eco-gastronomy to the practice of everyday life. But Pianella is also an ancient centre of the Vestini, an old Italian tribe, with the first proofs dating back to 953 AD, when the church of Santa Maria Maggiore was built on the ruins of the Roman temple dedicated to the worship of the goddess Vesta. SPOLTORE Spoltore, land of the five villages, is a small town on a hilltop that overlooks the sea and surrounded by the mountains. The most ancient villages are Spoltore, Villa Santa Maria, and Caprara. Villa Raspa and Santa Teresa have seen a sudden devolvement in the last fifty years. The name Spoltore has its origin from the Germanic word spelt and appears for the first time after the arrival of the Longobard due to the cultivation of spelt widely spread in the past. The history of Spoltore however is much older: the fertility of the soil, the good weather conditions has encouraged settlements since the Neolithic Age.

Transition bike-run After completing the bike course and attaching the bike on the bike rack, athletes will pick-up the red bag containing their run gear. You are allowed to change only in the white tent set up as dressing room. The red bag will be set down in the Drop-Off Area located at the exit of the dressing room. The staff will put the bags back on the bag-racks. Run The run course is a 2 loop course. For a visual control, you will receive two wristbands differently colored at the end of each loop and you have to wear them fully visible at any time until the finish line. Athletes are allowed to enter the finish chute only with this 2 wristbands. Staff members will show you the way to the Finish Line when you leave the loop course. There are no penalty boxes on the run course. If an athlete receives a penalty on the run course, the bib number will be marked and athlete will sit out the penalty on the spot. CUT-OFF TIME: 8 hours from your own start. 16

Run course aid stations The run course provides two Aid Stations on one side, each station with: PowerBar SportDrink ISO ACTIVE, coke diluted with water (all in cups), halved bananas, apples 1/8, lemons 1/8, halved PowerBar Bars (offered in the wrapping), PowerGel, cakes and crackers, salt, water, RedBull energy drink. Two additional water stations are located near the Transition Area and near to the Expo Area. Medical assistance During the race, doctors and first aid staff will attend the swim course, each Aid Station on the bike course and the run course. The Finish Area Team and a doctor will take care of each athlete crossing the Finish Line and check the physical condition, if necessary. Please obey to the orders of the medical staff at any time. Cut-off times Swim: 1 h 10 min after your own start Latest at 10:55 a.m. Swim&bike: 5 h 30 min after your own start First lap finish latest at 2 p.m. Latest at 3:15 p.m. Swim, bike & run: 8 h after your own start Latest at 5:45 p.m. The race will finish at 5:45 p.m., athletes who cross the finish line after their own personal cut-off time will not be listed in the official results. Road closures on the bike course will end at 3:15 p.m. For safety reasons, if an athlete decides to give up the race before the Finish Line, he has to inform race officials. Early race break off If you break off, you have to inform a referee that you have retired from the race. If you do not sign out, we will suppose that you are still on the course. The organizer will assume an emergency and will initiate rescue operations. You will be held responsible for the costs of these operations.
