BIS celebrated its 4th Annual Day - PANACHE on 31st January 19 at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam. The hall was packed to the corners with eyes locked on the giant stage, where the students were to perform with vigour and enthusiasm. The program began with the lighting of the lamp followed by presentation of the annual report highlighting the academic, sports and co-scholastic achievements of the school. The theme of the Kindergarten function Fairy tales around the World was presented meticulously by the students. The thematic show of talent, imagination and organization was the essence of the evening. Our students danced to the tunes of songs with colourful props. The audience was enthralled by the colourful dance presentations. The entire school participated whole-heartedly towards the success of this grand event. There was the festive environment all around and parents were visibly excited to watch their child s performance. Our annual day was a celebration of culture,

art, creativity and talent. The celebration proved to be a platform for the students to come together and show their inherent talent. The venue reverberated with thunderous applause; gleaming faces exchanged appreciative nods as the audience witnessed the perfection and extravaganza of the show. The ambience complimented by the mind blowing lighting and sound was a visual treat to the audience who left the venue spellbound. The exhilarating show was an unforgettable experience and left a lasting impression on the minds of everyone present. It was indeed a spectacular display of talent and fervour.

It doesn t matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. The preliminary round of the 15 th Indomie Inter School Quiz Competition was held on 24 th January at The Asian School. There were 5 teams consisting of 2 students each. They participated in the preliminary round from our school. Eight schools participated and each team of the highest scores of the respective schools was selected for the finals. BIS champs Dev Nambiar and Vaibhav qualified for the finals. The final round was held at BKS Diamond Jubilee hall in Segaya on 25 th January. BIS champs won the fourth position in the competition.

BIS jewels outshined in Bhavan s GCC Spell Bee Knock Out level held on 13 th January. From Cute Bees category Rachana Redla- Grade II (Ganges), from Sweet Bees category Sunish Sunil Bayalan Grade IV (Olive) and from Honey Bees category Steve Chalil Biju- (Grade VII Jupiter), got selected for the Grand Finale and therefore will represent Bahrain Indian School at GCC Level. This was a challenging uphill battle. We feel proud in sharing that many students competed and tried their level best to win this round. But finally, these outstanding spellers are going to head BIS at an International Level. The Grand Finale will be held on 9th February. BIS Director, Principal and teachers appreciated their hard work and wish them all the best for the grand finale.

18 th January was not just another day, it s a day that can t be skipped from the golden cards of Bahrain Indian School. Yes! We are talking about a maiden attempt of our kids who participated in the Science Exhibition Working Model Contest- 2018 conducted by The Institution of Engineers (India) Bahrain Chapter which is affiliated to the Bahrain Society of Engineers. Out of many projects scrutinized across various schools, very few of them got shortlisted. A team of 12 young budding scientists from BIS categorized under Sub Junior - Kids, Sub Junior and Junior presented their working models at the Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall, Juffair. They were competing against the other schools of the Island in their age categories. The students presented a lot of innovative ideas of science and people present over there could witness interesting exhibits that came out through the young minds. The thing that fascinated the audience the most was that the children had a very good concept about the topics that they chose to demonstrate in front of the judges. The judging panel comprised of a team of Doctorates related to the field of Sciences, eminent engineers and experienced teachers. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Om Prakash, Second Secretary Embassy of India, Kingdom of Bahrain who got stunned by observing and examining the exhibits. The judgment was based on originality of the concept, innovation, presentation of the concept and the students ability to answer the questions. BIS is immensely proud of the wonderful achievements of our Kids at this platform. They won prizes in all the three categories and here are the results:-

BIS celebrates Hindi Diwas Give respect to your nation and national language. Hindi is our native language, let s celebrate Hindi Diwas. World Hindi Diwas has been observed and celebrated with ardour and fervour at BIS. Different Inter-House competitions like Handwriting for Grade III&IV, Poem Recitation for Grade V&VI and Debate for VII&VIII were held.

There were many contestants who had participated and presented their poems.their poems were very well prepared and promising. The event motivated the students and successfully oriented them towards the rich heritage of Hindi language. It was a pleasure to watch the little ones confidently reciting their poems on different topics. They enthralled the judges and the audience alike by their expressions and perfect voice modulation. BIS Director, Principal and Coordinator encouraged the students and appreciated their hard work.

"Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words." Tisha Malhotra of Grade VI got II prize in Hindi Poem Recitation competition organised by the Indian Embassy on World Hindi Diwas. Poem of genre valour, courage and motivation seems very powerful in Hindi to recite. Each word sounds powerful and vigorous when properly recited with correct pronunciation. And that was clearly reflected in Tisha's voice when she was reciting the poem- "Mata Pita Bhagwan ki Murat".

Joy of Reading - by Grade I Indigo "There are many little ways to enlarge your child s world. Love of books is the best of all. Jacqueline Kennedy." We all know that reading books opens the door to a vivid imagination, expands vocabulary and the ability to succeed academically. Putting this thought forward, children of Grade I Indigo conducted a wonderful assembly on the theme- Joy of Reading" on 7 th January. The children spoke about the importance of reading and astonished the audience by their remarkable performance.

Panache - the 4 th Annual Day of BIS was held on 31 st January, Thursday at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Hall. The evening witnessed a mesmerizing blend of cultural programmes that were impeccably orchestrated to portray the unmatched caliber of the students. Ms. Renu Yadav, Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Kingdom of Bahrain was the Chief Guest and Ms. Reem Al Dhaen, Education Specialist, Private Education Directorate, Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain was the Guest of Honour. The guests were welcomed by BIS Directors Mr.Himanshu Verma and Ms.Ritu Verma, and Principal Mr.Saji Jacob. The guests addressed the audience and enlightened them with their words of wisdom. The gala event began with the achievements of the School in terms of academics and infrastructure through Annual Report followed by the release of the School Magazine.

Classical Bharatnatyam Dance has traditionally been an important part of religion and culture in India. According to Indian legend, the gods invented dance. Dancing is one of the most revered Hindu arts because it incorporates melody, drama form, line and rhythm. BIS divas induced trance, ecstasy, the experience of the divine, the realization of one s own secret nature, and finally, mergence into the divine essence through their invocation dance.

Other Dance Forms When one talks about the dance items, our imagination tends to stop at people dancing to trance and techno music. They dance to celebrate their festivals, they dance to enjoy and energize their mood. Dance Items like Gujarati Garba, Punjabi beats, Ballet clearly depicted this mood and in this way, BIS troupe of divas enthralled the audience by their stupendous performances.

PETER PAN Peter Pan - A free Mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys,

interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland. This story was beautifully depicted by our Grade I & II actors and actresses of BIS. The performance of the students on stage attracted the attention of all the audience it was an exciting, emotional and a memorable one.

Mime A mime or mime artist is a person who uses mime as a theatrical medium or as a performance art. Miming involves acting out a story through body motions, without the use of speech. Hats off to the BIS kids to evoke the feeling of patriotism through their wonderful performance. Skit Performance on Patriotism Patriotism can be defined as one s love and loyalty for his country. Many people dedicate their lives to serve their nation. These people are referred to as patriots. The feeling of patriotism brings people closer. It must be promoted for the betterment of the country as well as the people residing there. Patriotism means having love and devotion for one s country. Those who are true patriots work towards building their nation in whichever way they can.

BIS energetic youths showcased their dramatic skills and talents by presenting a mind-blowing skit on Bhagat Singh. The students performance awestruck the audience.

Song Performance Singing originates in the heart, not from the lips or the tongue. It is the expression of the joyous thrill that wells up from the heart. It is the spontaneous manifestation of inner ecstasy. BIS young singers of Grade II to VIII entertained the audience with their melodious voices.

Live Performance with Drum Beats, Guitar and Keyboard Drums are used to keep a steady beat in a song. They give music of many kinds and generate a sense of feeling. It was first used for communication then used for ceremonial functions. BIS drummer of Grade V- Arnav Vijay s live drum performance enthralled the audience with rocking beats. The keyboard and guitar are wonderful linear instruments. They are still one of the most popular ways to play all kinds of musical parts from basslines to drums. Atharva Aditya Balavalli and Avi Malvalli of Grade V and Guitarist Ryan Abey Philip of Grade VIII came up with ivory-tinkling talents and mesmerised the audience by playing melodious tunes. The entire show was greatly appreciated by all the guests for the exuberant display of talent and commitment showcased by all BIS students and teachers.

Leaders stand out by the nature of their commitment and the integrity of their character. BIS young leaders competed in various competitions like SOF, NASO, GCC Spell Bee and are therefore heading towards the next level. The strength of your achievement is rooted in the depth of your passion. Your can-do attitude will surely create wonders in future. Wishing the BIS Champs all the very best for the success! Excellence is the potential chiseled into more perfect state through vision, dedication and determination. Like a circle, the pursuit of excellence has no end. Our achievements are shaped by the strength of the foundations we set. The foundation of excellence is built with the quality of students actions and integrity. Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. Likewise, our BIS kids have proved their multitalented skills which we all have witnessed throughout this academic year. Strength of mind is to keep working, not rest. Now, it s time to focus on academics. Year after the year, February is the time for revision. Each year teachers try the favourites, alongside a few new revision strategies to keep the students interested.as we approach the revision stretch, here are a few revision tips to follow:

Keep yourself motivated Check your understanding Practise telling someone else what you have learnt Study alone for some time, but also in a group, if this suits you. Eat well and keep yourself hydrated Take rest at intervals. That s all for now, meet you in the next month with more updates. Until then Goodbye (Au revoir).
