May 2017 POLK COUNTY 4-H Polk County Press A big thank you to all that supported the efforts to donate to the affected ranchers of the wildfires in the Panhandle. With the help of Tractor Supply, Polk County Youth Rodeo Association, many family and friends we were able to host a fabulous and delicious bake sale to collect donations. Collection cans were placed at Livingston Feed, Red Barn, Peters Tractor, Southland Feed, Big Jakes Western Dive, Pit Row Pit Stop, Burris Farm & Home, Alamo Feed, Fosters Work & Play, Eatons Hardware, Johnson Café and Gokeys County Store. With the efforts of our group Polk County Texas Farm Bureau also decided to match our donation up to $1000. We collected $1,246.51!!!! That is $2,246.51 going to the Panhandle! We will be dividing the money three ways to support the Ranchers Relief in Gray County, Hemphill County and Lipscomb County. SAVE THE DATE!!!! Help Support Your Local 4-H Club by donating $1 at Checkout from April 26th thru May 7th 60% of the funds collected supports YOUR local county 4-H Educational programs of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension are open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age or national origin, genetic information or veteran status. The Texas A&M University System, U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating. Anyone needing special assistance at an Extension Program should contact the Texas AgriLife Extension Office at (936) 327-6828 at least one week prior to the program or event.

This four day long camp is designed to teach kids: Healthy eating habits Basic cooking skills Safety in the kitchen Cooking techniques All while having fun!
