Wisconsin Cowboy Dressage Gatherings and Schooling Shows Rules and Procedures Find all Cowboy Dressage Rules, Tests and Score Sheets, Call Sheets, videos and information: www.cowboydressage.com/competition.html Rider Division Definition Open Adult professionals (An individual who makes his/her living instructing or training in the industry) Amateur Adults (non-pro) and Youth may enter Youth Under 18 (An individual who has not reached his/her 18th birthday as of December 31st of the current competition year) CALLERS The rider is encouraged to memorize their tests. The use of a caller is not mandatory. Cowboy Dressage World allows the rider to use a caller of their choice, however, the ultimate responsibility for accurate and correct riding of the test falls upon the rider. If the rider chooses to use a caller, it is the rider s responsibility to arrange for one. Wisconsin Cowboy Dressage will not be providing callers for riders. * A note about gaited horses: Gaited horses may ride in any test division appropriate for their rider (Open, Am, Jr), but will be judged on the Walk/Jog/Lope gaits defined in the test. If the gaited horse cannot jog, this may result in a very low score. We would hope the gaited horses wholeheartedly support the Gaited Test Division, which is designed specifically for the gaited horse. High Point Award Calculations and Eligibility Requirements: 1. Points per class placing: 1st(10), 2nd(9), 3rd(8), 4th(7), 5th(6), 6th(5), 7th(4), 8th(3), 9th(2), 10th(1) 2. Points will be totaled for each Rider Division (example: Open, Amateur and Youth) for each horse and rider combination to determine High Point Awards. 3. Open and Amateur classes with less than three competitors will count toward high point; however, calculated as follows: If a class has fewer than 3 riders, to earn 1st place points, the rider must score over 70%, and to earn 2nd place points, the rider must score over 65%. 4. Each horse and rider combination must show in a minimum of FOUR classes overall. 5. Each horse is limited to FOUR under saddle classes per day and FOUR ground classes per day. 6. Top FOUR highest scoring classes will be counted for high point 7. Freestyle does not count toward high point awards. 8. Cancer Survivor and Veterans High Point will be awarded to the rider with the highest average from their 4 highest test scores at the end of the 2 day Show. 9. Ties will be broken by using the highest Soft Feel score found on any of the four tests used in the averaging for each rider involved in the tie. 10. All High-point awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the show Sunday evening. A Note About Freestyle: If you are considering showing any of the freestyles please be mindful: The Cowboy Dressage Freestyle is a showcase of accomplishments between horse and rider through the levels. The horse and rider must be prepared and able to do the Cowboy Dressage maneuvers successfully with grace, finesse, and respect the freestyle deserves. Partnership, Harmony, and Soft Feel are still a priority when scoring the Freestyle. The Freestyle should be fun and entertaining, while still a celebration of our finest horsemanship. WCD nor Heartland Equestrian Center, LLC, judges, employees, or volunteers will NOT be held responsible for any and all claims regarding damages, losses, or injury to property, animals, spectators or participants arising from this show.
