Protection Requirements Lift Tickets Race Order Start Procedure and Late/Missed Starts Full-Face helmets, Knee pads, and full fingered-gloves will be mandatory for all timed stages. Riders not in compliance may not start the stage until they have the correct gear. Helmets must be worn at all times during bike riding. Please bring a second helmet if you don t want to climb in your full-face. A helmet with a removable chinbar, like the Bell Super 2r, is acceptable as a full face helmet with the chinbar on. Lift access for both Friday and Saturday is $50, one day access is $25. We WILL use one lift ride on race day, so beginner/sport will climb once, pro/ex will climb twice. The reason we are doing this is to be able to move the day along, to be able to use two climbs (not one), and to keep the climbing away from OHV routes. Start order is the order you get in line at that stage. After the first stage - Starters are instructed to allow extra ghost rider behind Beginners if time allows. Riders must follow directions of the starter. Racers will be given a 5 second countdown to their start. Some stages allow a rolling start and time is triggered when they cross the start marker. Others must be one foot down, with the front wheel behind the start time until the GO signal is given. Any racers arriving at the start of a race stage later than the sweep, may miss their chance to be timed on that stage and will not have a compiled finish time for the event. Don t let the sweep pass you. They are instructed not to pass anyone unless that person tells them they are no longer competing.
Timing and Results All riders will be timed by a chip attached to the back of their race plate, and on a tag around their seat collar. Do not bend plate when attaching it to your bike as it may damage or interfere with the timing chip. Do not cut, fold or alter your handlebar number plate where your printed number is not visible. A secondary number must be displayed on your body visible from the rear. Towards the bottom of a camelback or attached to jersey is acceptable. Stage finishes will be marked with orange signs on stakes and a timing pad on the trail. All riders are asked to not approach the stage timers unless asked. Report any issues to the Race Director at the day lodge. Interim times and rankings may be updated throughout the event online at www.bikemonkey.net/live (not promised due to cell coverage) Please notify a finish official if you will not be completing a stage or the race. In case of withdrawal from one Stage, the racer is allowed to take part in the rest of the Special Stages. However, the rider will not be included in the General Classification (overall ranking) of the race. Claims and Penalties Marshals will be situated along the course to monitor for any rule violations. Claims regarding the race progress itself or the attitude of other riders must be put forward to the Race Director (located in the Village) within 30 minutes of the race finish of the last rider. The Race Director is authorized to give additional penalties that are not listed in the CES rules in the case of a rider who fails to respect the other riders, the spirit of the sport, the environment or the organization. This includes going off course. The course is the currently established trail. The trail is dirt. The areas alongside the trail that are not the course have plants growing on them. Don t ride off the course over any plants. Race Director: Erik Saunders - eriksaun@vp-usa.com
