We look forward to receiving your entry and as always enjoy meeting with old and new competitors. Prizes are maybe substituted by sponsorship for a greater or equal prize value. This is an RAS rule and must be followed. Water trough available for horses Absolutely no entry into the cattle area of the show grounds These grounds are private property please leave them as you find them No charge! SHOW INFORMATION 2018 Please take the time to read this important information for the Rai Valley A & P Show: a lot of questions typically asked prior to the show will be answered here. Our association abides by the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) rules. A full set of the Equestrian Regulations and Rules may be acquired by contacting the RAS at www.ras.org.nz Completion of Entry Form: All entry forms must be signed and legible, have required copies of certificates attached, entry fees calculated correctly and subscriptions paid if a member. Incorrect entry forms will be returned for correction. Confirmation will be emailed after processing. It is your responsibility to check the details are correct and advise the secretary by the 20 th February 2017 of any errors. Catalogues will be Live on our website to print and check classes. Privacy Act: By completing an entry form the Exhibitors/Competitors accepts that their details may be made available to the media for promotional, programme and or result process. Cancellations and Refunds: The association shall not be liable to the exhibitor for any compensation whatever due to the postponement or cancellation of the show. No refunds will be given for classes not entered on the day. Substitution of an animal will not be permitted without the consent of the steward and notification to the office. If an animal or rider is scratched due to illness or injury, entry fees will be refunded to 80% on receipt of a vet/doctors certificate and letter requesting a refund. The association reserves the right to combine, split or delete classes according to entries received. All exhibits must be on the show grounds and ready for judging at the time stated in the schedule, any exhibits not ready will be liable for disqualification. Membership: Exhibitors/competitors aged 17 years and over must pay full entry fees unless members. Exhibitors/Competitors under 17 years may claim discounted entry fees on their parent s membership. Membership is $20.00 and entitles 2 x Adults and 2 x Children free Gate Passes and discounted entry fees Protests: All protests must be made in writing and lodged up to one hour after the judges have made their decision. A deposit of $50 must be made which will be returned if the protest is sustained. No protests will be received later than one hour after prize tickets are affixed. The committee, not less than 5 members, thereof shall decide all protests as soon as practicable and there shall be no appeal to their decision. Grand Parade: The grand parade begins 12:30pm (approx) on show day. All Champion winners are expected to parade. Any Horse or Pony winners not taking part in the grand parade may have their prize money forfeited. Trophies and Prize Money: 2017 Trophies must be returned before show day and have the last show recipients name and date engraved on the trophy at the Rai A & P Association s expense. Cups must be cleaned too prior to returning. 2018 Show Cups Will be Available at the Horse Office for Winners to have Photos with their Horse on Show Day. All Cups to be returned to the Horse Office by 4pm and NOT to be taken from the Show Grounds. Thank you Trophies or prizes may be substituted by sponsors. All prize money will be paid on show day. To each class of horse or pony two prizes may be awarded with recipients sharing the prize money.
Back Numbers: Confirmation of the back numbers will be available on our web site in our Catalogue, www.raivalleyshow.co.nz. Never wear a different back number from the one given unless a steward and the office is notified. If competitors require a back number to wear on the day from the Rai valley A&P Association please return to the Horse office at the end of the day. There is a $5 fee for back numbers which will be refunded on return of back number on the day. Forbidden Substance Testing: Use of tranquillizers, stimulants or any drug capable of affecting the performance of horses or ponies is forbidden. Random forbidden substance testing may be carried out at any time that during the show in accordance with RAS Rule 55A and NZ Equestrian Federation, testing is at the owner s risk. Any competitor who has administered to their horse or pony any drugs within 7 days prior to the show is required to notify the show secretary before competing. Testing will be carried out under the RAS Forbidden Substance Judiciary Committee procedures and rules. A compulsory drug testing levy of $1 is charged per horse. Guidelines for Entering Saddle Events: OPEN CLASSES All Horses and Ponies may enter including Novices NOVICE CLASSES A Novice is a Horse or Pony that has won 0-5 first s in a conformation class, at any A&P Show, at the time of the show, unless otherwise specified. Once a Horse or Pony has had 6 wins it is no longer eligible to enter Novice classes. If a Novice entry has gained 6 wins before the day of the show, the competitor must advise the secretary and may change to an Open class or if no class remains to enter a refund will be given at such time the show committee decides. Novice Champions are not eligible for Open Championships unless they have won their Open class, nor are they eligible for Supreme. LADIES HACK Any Ladies Hack class win counts as an Open Conformation Class. All Horses and Ponies must be named. No Ponies are allowed in any Horse classes unless stated. In all rings first prize winners only are to parade for Champion, the second placed animals are to stand by for Reserve Champion. All riders 16 years and under must wear protective head gear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area collecting rings or anywhere else within the show grounds. All helmets must be Red Tagged. The Yellow Card System: This show supports the RAS Yellow Card System, which will operate in the Equestrian Section of all affiliated show and will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards show officials, judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the show bring the equestrian discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provide in the RAS Equestrian Competitors and Judges rulebook and rule 13 of the RAS Constitution. Implementation of the Yellow Card will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this card, and full wording of the Yellow Card System is available to view on the RAS website. www.ras.org.nz In all Hack and Pony classes at the Rai Valley A & P show (excepting Training Hunter & Local Recreational classes) A current height and performance card must be carried and shown to the ring steward. Miniature Horse classes: Category A up to 34 inches, - Category B up to 38 inches All miniature horse entries must be registered with the NZMHA. Miniature Horse height for age rules apply to all horses competing in this section. Classes will be run under the NZMHA rules.
