This is the first series between the Lookouts (MIN) and M-Braves since a five-game set, August 21-25, 2017 at AT&T Field. The M- Braves went 2-9 against Chattanooga last season and the Lookouts lead the all-time series 83-73 and 43-37 at AT&T Field. The Lookouts will make a return trip to Trustmark Park, August 14-18. The M-Braves second-leg of the road trip is at Jacksonville, August 8-12. The Braves are coming off a 4-1 series win over Birmingham. LAST TIME OUT: Mississippi won for the first time on the road trip Saturday night at Chattanooga, in front of a sellout crowd of 6,387, at AT&T Field, 6-2. RHP Enderson Franco tossed 7.0 innings of tworun baseball on five hits, striking out five and walking just one. 2B Alejandro Salazar was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI while Tyler Neslony was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. DAY BASEBALL: Today the M-Braves are playing their first day game since a 1:00 pm Sunday matinee on May 27 against Jacksonville at Trustmark Park. This is the first day game on the road since an 11:00 am contest at Tennessee on May 21. STARTING PITCHING: M-Braves starters have a 2.77 ERA (85 ER/276.1 IP) with 287 strikeouts and just 94 walks over the past 50 games (25-25 record) with 27 quality starts dating back to June 10. Starters have recorded a 10+ strikeout game in four of those outings with a 9.36/9IP ratio. FINALLY IT S THE WEEKEND: The M-Braves are now 22-10 on the weekend this season, including 8-0 on Saturday s at home. Overall, the M-Braves are 13-5 on Saturday s and 9-5 on Sunday s. Mississippi is 29-51 during the week in 2018. REACHING RAY-PATRICK DIDDER: INF Ray-Patrick Didder has reached base safely in 22 of 24 games since being promoted to Double-A on July 9. Didder is batting.329 (24-for-73) with a.424 on-base percentage. Didder had a 15-game on-base streak snapped in game two of Wednesday s doubleheader with Birmingham. M-BRAVES AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS: INF Luis Valenzuela ranks 6th in the SL with a.274 batting average. RHP Enderson Franco ranks 7th with a 3.49 ERA. LHP Corbin Clouse is T-3rd in appearances (37) and 2nd among SL relievers with an 12.00 SO/9IP ratio. THE YOUNGEST PLAYER IN THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE: 19-year-old OF Cristian Pache, the Atlanta Braves No. 5 prospect and No. 58 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline had multihit games in each of his first two Mississippi games. He is 5-for-16 with a triple and two runs scored in his first three M-Braves games. Pache will not turn 20 until November 19. HAPPY TRAILS: RHP Touki Toussaint, LHP Bruce Zimmermann, RHP Kyle Wright and RHP Bryse Wilson were all in Mississippi s rotation to start the second half. All have since been promoted or traded. In 21 starts, they combined for a 2.23 ERA (29 ER/117.2 IP), 41 walks and 129 strikeouts, 9.83 SO/9IP. 17 WINS IN JULY: After an 8-18 June, Mississippi finished 17-12 in July. The 17 wins are the most in a single month during the 2018 season and most since finishing 18-11 in July, 2016. The M-Braves hit.231 for the month and posted a team 3.10 ERA, outscoring the opposition 107-101. NEW MLB PIPELINE PROSPECT RANKING FEATURES SIX M-BRAVES: The Mississippi Braves feature five of the Atlanta Braves Top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline s July 26 update. OF Cristian Pache (#5 and #58 in all of MLB), LHP Thomas Burrows (21), OF Travis Demeritte (24), LHP Ricardo Sanchez (28) and RHP Josh Graham (29) are among Atlanta s Top 30 prospects. AMERICAN LEAGUE STYLE BASEBALL: The M-Braves are currently in a stretch of playing 20-straight games with the DH. The stretch will end after the five-game set in Chattanooga (MIN). FROM PEARL TO ATLANTA: LHP Kolby Allard made his Major League debut for the Braves on July 31, and became the 135th M-Braves player and sixth this season to move on and make their MLB debut. Allard joins C Willians Astudillo (June 30, Twins) OF Dustin Peterson (May 28), RHP Mike Soroka (May 1), OF Ronald Acuña Jr. (April 25) and LHP Jesse Biddle (April 21) to have debuted this season. In total, 134 players, have gone on to make their MLB debuts after playing in Pearl since 2005. OF Michael Reed has previously made his MLB debut for Milwaukee, but made his debut with Atlanta after opening the 2018 season in Mississippi on July 23 at Miami. HAMMER TIME: Jackson, MS native Chris Maloney enters his first season as the M-Braves manager and is the seventh skipper in franchise history.
