FAQ Skagit Valley YMCA: Transitioning to the new building! 1/30/19 WHEN IS THE NEW BUILDING OPENING? There are just a few things that need to be completed before we can open the new Y. Final inspections are taking place this week, after which we can bring our staff members in for required safety and emergency training. We will be opening soon, but we do not have a final date yet. We will announce our opening date as soon as possible. Due to the new timing, we will be reopening Fulton Street with limited hours and equipment. We will have some cardio and weight machines, the gym will be open for walking/jogging, and the pool will be open with a limited schedule. However, there are a few things that need to be completed before we can open the new Y. Final inspections are taking place this week, after which we can bring our staff members in for required safety and emergency training. We are eager to ensure a safe environment for you and your family, and look forward to opening the building as soon as possible. We will announce our opening date as soon as we are able. WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF THE NEW BUILDING? Mondays-Saturdays: 5am-10pm* Sundays: 11am-6pm* *Pool hours will differ from facility hours WHICH PROGRAMS WILL CONTINUE DURING THE REDUCED SCHEDULE? Basketball and the swim teams will continue as they are currently scheduled during the transition period. All other programs and fitness classes will resume once we are in the new facility. CAN I GET A REFUND SINCE THE NEW BUILDING IS NOT OPEN YET? We are not able to offer any discounts for the transition, however, we hope that the benefits of the new building will be more than worth the wait. We re sorry for this extended inconvenience. We will announce our opening date as soon as possible. Did you know that your Y membership gives you access to any Y in the US? Whatcom and Stanwood are two of our more popular locations that Skagit Valley members visit.
WHY WON T THE NEW BUILDING BE OPEN TO EVERYONE RIGHT AWAY? We will have a rolling opening date in order to have a smooth opening. Our Legacy members (those who joined on or before August 30th) have supported our Y for a number of years and have helped us make our new facility a reality, and as a thank you, we are giving these members early access to the new building as we are getting all of our new equipment delivered. And, our Charter members (those who joined between August 31st and opening) have paid for early access to the new building. WHAT FITNESS CLASSES WILL BE OFFERED IN THE NEW BUILDING? We will continue to offer the same fitness classes that we currently offer. However, in the new building, we will be able to offer additional class times in the mornings and afternoons to better serve the needs of our members. IS THE NEW BUILDING ADA COMPLIANT? Yes! It is very important to us that we are able to serve all members of the community and ensuring that our facility is ADA compliant is key to making that possible. WHEN WILL THE NEXT TOUR OF THE NEW FACILITY BE? Once we open the building to Legacy members, we will be able to offer tours. In the meantime, please check out our Skagit Valley Family YMCA Facebook page for a virtual tour of the new facility. CAN I RENT OUT THE POOL/EVENTS ROOM FOR A PRIVATE PARTY? This is something that we are looking to possibly add in the future, but we are not able to offer at this time (or in the near future).
