President s Message: On a very positive note, our membership drive is going strong and we have 45 new members YTD! There were 18 new members in May alone! This is the most positive drive that we have had in some time and we hope to keep the momentum going through the fall. The membership committee has done 2562 an excellent job and I would specifically like to thank Gib Carpenter and Kellie Sadler for their hard work and results! Now it is up to each of us to make sure our new members feel welcome and become part of our golfing and social events. In addition, the course is in great condition so please help us show it off by bringing guests and continuing to help us recruit new members. Manager s Message I would like to extend a special Thank You to all of the volunteers and staff who put in many long hours to make the Twin City Bank Maumelle Classic, Men s Four-Ball Championship and all outside events during the month of May a great success! These events brought many guests and prospective members to our Club. All participants had nothing but positive comments about our course and clubhouse operations. Make plans to spend Father s Day with DAD at the Club on Sunday, June 19 th. We will be providing a cookout to give Dad a full stomach to take on the golf course. See the front page for more details. We continue to have positive results from our membership drive! There are many new faces at the Club, so make it a point to introduce yourself and make our new members feel welcome. Don t forget the new member incentive program is still in effect. We have had several members take advantage of the program, so get out there and recruit new members to MCC! REMINDER The swimming 1475 pool will close at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 4 th for the MWGA Mixed Couples Luau. Thank you for your cooperation. From the Pro Shop The Buick Scramble is here! The local qualifying for MCC members is set for Saturday, June 18 th. Several teams have already been formed and we need 14 teams to advance 2 teams to the Sectional qualifier that will be held in August at Forest Ridge GC in Broken Arrow, OK. If you want to play, please contact Wade or Cimarron as soon as possible. As last year, we will be chartering a bus and coordinating a golf trip in conjunction with the Buick 1222 team trip. Let the Pro Shop know if you are interested in participating in this fun event! Congratulations are in order to Patrick Sullivan, 2005 Maumelle Classic Champion and to the team of Robert Denton / Chuck Kaiser, 2005 Men s Four-Ball Champions! The MGA Event for June will be a special Friday Night event that will consist of two 9-hole formats. The first format: 1,2,3 best balls will begin at 6:00p.m. Immediately following the first 9 holes will be a cook-out by the scoreboard. Followed the cook-out is when the fun really begins! The remaining 9 holes will be a scramble format played in the dark with glow balls. This event is limited to the first 44 players that sign up and all players must be signed up by Friday June 17 th so that the staff can order the nitelite supplies. Call the Pro Shop for more info! MGA NEWS Thanks to everyone who participated in the May Event and congratulations to the winners of the team competition and the individual winner, Pete Ardoin. Our June Event is set for Friday, June 24 and it will be a change from our usual format. The Board felt we should try something new and different this month which will also give everyone an additional Sat morning in June. The field is limited to 44 players so please sign up ASAP. We will play the back 9 @ 6:00 p.m. and take a break for hot dogs and chicken @ 8:00 p.m. with the MGA furnishing the food. We will then proceed to the front 9 to play nite-golf. The Event is a scramble format and should be lots of fun. Thanks to Linda Johnston and her committee for their 2251 efforts on the Mixed and to Wanda Jett for the Willie Odom. Both tournaments are expected to be the best ever. Remember in June we try to beat the heat. Play starts at 8:00 beginning June 1 st. I know it s early, but we really appreciate it when we re finished before the heat of the day! She will also be starting a tennis league at Maumelle Country Club as well as Junior Tennis Camps in June and July. A portion of the fees will go toward upgrading our tennis courts!
