As a new college graduate, the enthusiasm of the 4-H program I inherited was to be compared to no other. In these past 37 years, the Allen County 4-H program has had it challenges, joys, successes, and hopes. Most of all, it has always had the best people in the world to work with. As 4-H ers, parents, volunteers, I could not have been sent to a better county. Scottsville is definitely the Friendly City. The community always rallies to Make the Best Better for all our citizens. 4-H Camp Come join the fun in the sun!! There will be canoeing, swimming, nature, crafts, riflery, archery, horseback riding, challenger course, plus many other fun things to do while at 4-H camp. 4-H Camp is scheduled for July 17-20, 2017 at the West Kentucky 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs. Camp applications will be available for pick up in April from the Allen County Extension Office. 4-H Communication Night Allen County 4-H Communication night will be Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Allen County Extension Office beginning at 6:00 p.m. 4-H Talk Meet, Demonstrations, and Mock Interview will all be held on this night. Registration is due in the Allen County Extension office by Friday, March 17. Talk Meet- Name, Title of Speech, Age as of January 1, 2017 Demonstrations- Name, Title of Demonstration, Demonstration Category, Age as of January 1, 2017 Mock Interview (Seniors only)- Name, Job that you are applying for I am looking forward to all your wonderful presentations, If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 270-237-3146. 4-H Livestock If you plan to show dairy, market lambs, goats, or swine in 4-H this year, you will need to KUIP tag your animal and receive 6 hours of educational instruction with a Certified 4-H Livestock Volunteer. Education must be completed prior to tagging in May. Contact the Allen County Extension Office if you plan to participate in Livestock or Dairy Projects this year.
