Player Registration Form (TURN IN AT REGISTRATION DESK BY 5PM) ****Business Meeting**** A mandatory meeting of the NEIGA members will be held on Saturday October 27 th at 5pm at the Heritage House Hotel in Hyannis. EACH TEAM MUST BE REPRESENTED BY THE GOLF COACH OR OFFICIAL APPOINTED BY THE SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. All matters pertaining to the conduct of the NEIGA Championship shall be discussed at this meeting. Mark O Brien of The Captains Golf Course will explain all local rules.
Tournament Package Your $1000 entry fee includes the following: (3) hotel rooms at the Heritage House Hotel at 259 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601 (508-775-7000), cots may be reserved for an additional cost of $20 plus tax per day by contacting the hotel; use of the practice range Saturday through Monday across from the Captains; player s/coach s gift package; a banquet on Sunday evening at The Irish Village 822 Main Street, South Yarmouth, MA 02664; a boxed lunch for each player and coach during Sunday s first round. ALL TEAMS MUST STAY AT THE HERITAGE HOUSE HOTEL. If a team brings more than one coach, an additional $50 is to be paid at the registration desk on Sunday October 27 th if you have not already paid. Please let Mike Serijan know in advance if you will be bringing an assistant coach. Room Registration Soon you will receive a fax or email from the Heritage House Hotel with preregistration materials in order to make your check-in run smoothly. They will attempt to make sure you have at least one room ready by 1:30pm. I have asked the hotel to make sure every team has minimally two rooms with two beds. Some teams will have three rooms with two beds. All rooms are now WiFi enabled. Each coach MUST LEAVE A MAJOR CREDIT CARD ON FILE as teams are responsible for any damages to rooms and for any extra expenses incurred (ie., cots, breakfast, staying after check-out on Monday October 29 th ). The Heritage House will offer a buffet breakfast each morning. You may purchase tickets for breakfast at the front desk when you check in. Tournament Registration Table Each team will be responsible for checking in with us in the hotel lobby between 1:00 4:30 pm. You must turn in your roster of five players at this time. You will be given you tournament gifts and your business meeting packet once the forms are turned in. EACH TEAM MUST BE REPRESENTED BY AT LEAST FOUR (4) PLAYERS Driving Range Practice The range, located ¼ mile from the Captains Golf Course, will be open to teams at approximately 1:30pm on Saturday (Get free tokens at Captains Course Pro Shop). On Sunday and Monday you proceed directly to the range which will open at 7:30 am. We will assign tee boxes to try and give each team equal access to the range. Please look at your tee time and range assignment for Day 1 in your packet that you will receive at registration.
No Practice Rounds After October 22 nd (READ EXCEPTION) The Executive Committee has determined that no practice rounds will be allowed on either of the Captains Courses within 5 days of the tournament. [The Captains Golf Commission has approved a discounted rate of $10 off the advertised rate for any NEIGA players who wish to play a practice round prior to October 22 nd. The player must have a written statement from their coach saying the player will be participating in the NEIGA Championship.] EXCEPTION: ANY NEW TEAM PLAYING IN THEIR FIRST NEIGA CHAMPIONSHIP MAY CALL THE CAPTAINS COURSE TO SCHEDULE A PRACTICE ROUND FOR FRIDAY OCTOBER 26 TH OR SATURDAY OCTOBER 27 TH. TEE TIMES BASED ON AVAILABILITY. It may be possible for all teams to walk and mark the courses on Saturday after 1:30 pm by getting permission from the starter. Please don t bring clubs with you on the course. ***Banquet*** One change to note for the 2012 banquet. 1. The banquet will be at 7:30pm on Sunday October 28 th AFTER ROUND 1. The banquet will still be at the Irish Village at 822 Route 28 South Yarmouth, MA 02664. Teams will be on their own for dinner on Saturday night after the business meeting. There are many restaurants near the hotel and the hotel will also be open for dinner. SHIRT AND TIE IS MANDATORY AT THE BANQUET. A JACKET IS OPTIONAL. The Guy Tedesco (player) Award, the Gordon McCullough (coach) Award, and the George A. Jacobson Special Recognition Award will be presented at the banquet. Equipment Survey Please have your players fill out the quick survey and return it to Mike Serijan before your scheduled tee time on Monday. Vendor Display at Coach s Social On Saturday evening at 8:30pm there will be a coach s social where our vendors will be present to discuss their collegiate discount programs. Each vendor will be giving away gifts in a raffle drawing. Coaches must visit with the vendors and fill out a raffle ticket.
In addition, the vendors will be given the opportunity should they choose to set up a small display at The Captains Golf Course on Sunday. After your round or during your lunch, feel free to stop by with your players to check out their products. Dress Code and Misconduct Appropriate golf attire must be worn at the practice range and during the two playing rounds (NO JEANS BY PLAYERS OR COACHES). A player or team will be subject to disqualification if this is violated. The Tournament Committee may (1) reprimand a player/team publicly or privately; and/or (2) disqualify the player/team from future participation in championships; and/or (3) ban player from participation in subsequent championship competition for a student-athlete or a representative of an institution who is guilty of misconduct occurring at or any time preceding, during or subsequent to the competition during official dates of the championship. Misconduct shall mean any act of dishonesty, unsportsmanlike conduct in practice or competition or breach or law that tends to discredit the championship and intercollegiate athletics and may be found upon an informal hearing granted to the student-athlete or representative involved. Caddies No caddies will be allowed. Golf Shoes Non-metal spikes only. Starters and Officials The Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) officials will be starters on both courses and will be available throughout for official rulings. Members of the Captains Golf Course will serve as marshals on the course. Coaches Coaches are asked to be available to help the starters during their team s wave of tee times and following the round to direct players to the MGA scorer s room. Players Players will be responsible for turning in their own scorecard to the MGA officials in the clubhouse immediately after their round. Box Lunches Each team will have tickets for Sunday s box lunch in their registration packet. YOU MUST TURN IN A TICKET TO GET A BOXED LUNCH. You may purchase lunch on Monday at the snack bar.
Team Championship This is a 36-hole stroke play championship. Each team will count their top 4 out of 5 scores each day to determine their total score. In the event of a tie, Co-Champions will be declared and awards will be presented to both teams. Individual Championship The competitor with the lowest 36-hole total will be declared the individual champion. In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden-death playoff immediately following on the Starboard Course. Prizes Individual: Team: *Individual Champion will have name inscribed on the Oakley Cup and will receive an individual trophy *Awards to the DI, DII and DIII individual champions *Awards to the top 10 finishers *Pin Flags for the top 18 and ties *Winning team receives the Championship Trophy to house for one year *Each player and coach will receive an award *DI, DII, DIII Team Champions will receive a team plaque and 6 individual plaques.
