NIU is next for us and we will need the same defensive focus in order to come away with a victory. Offensively, we have a lot of guys who can step up and have a big night. However, defensively, it takes a full team effort. I m excited for the opportunity we have to bounce back and get a MAC win in front of our home fans. SCOUTING THE NORTHERN ILLINOIS HUSKIES Northern Illinois, picked to finish fifth in the MAC West, will enter Tuesday night s game with an overall record of 8-7. NIU opened up conference play with a 75-6 home victory over Kent State, before dropping a 78-68 contest at Ohio last time out. Northern Illinois is coached by seventh-year head coach Mark Montgomery. Montgomery owns an overall record of 83-2 at NIU. Northern Illinois is shooting 6.0 percent from the floor, 35. percent from three-point territory, and 70.8 percent from the free throw line. The Huskies are scoring 75.5 points per game. Huskie opponents are averaging 73. points per game, while shooting 5.0 percent from the field, and 36. percent from downtown. The Huskies are averaging. assists, and.7 turnovers this season. Northern Illinois is - on the road in 207-8. NIU runs an aggressive offense, predicated on attacking the basket. The Huskies only attempt 5.8 three-pointers per game. Sophomore guard Eugene German ranks second in the conference in scoring (9.5 PPG). German has started all 5 games. Junior forward Levi Bradley, who has also started all 5 games, leads the Huskies in rebounds (6.3 RPG), steals (.2 SPG) and blocks (0. BPG). He also is second on the team with a.6 scoring average.
