The Houndslake Garden Club hit the ground running this year! We had a wonderful Welcome Party for our opening meeting. After socializing and welcoming our guests we invited them to join us for this year. We then reviewed our past year and saw that if we wanted to continue with our successful Carolina Garden and the Urns at the entrance of the club, a change was in order. After discussing several alternatives, it was decided that we needed to raise our dues for the first time ever. The dues are now fifteen dollars a year. This will give us a bit of a cushion to continue to do the things we love doing. Once this was decided we went on to hear the plans for our programs for the year. I'm not going to list them all for you but our first one will be Kim Rising speaking on Native American Gardening. How about that for something different?!! If you want to have fun learning interesting things about plants and visiting places where wonderful plants grow and having a great time with great people Start by coming to our second meeting on October 20 th at 10:30 in the Dogwood Room. We are welcoming new members. For information on Houndslake Garden Club, call me, Jane Rordam 648-5137 Thanks to Paul and his staff for hosting a great viewing party for the US Open Women's Championship last month. About a dozen an a half of the "tennis gang" enjoyed homemade pizza and a few drink specials in the for the ladies' tennis finial. Everything was great, ok the women's match could have been a little longer, but everything else was awesome! Thanks again to Paul and his staff for a job well done!! Speaking of jobs well done, our Houndslake CSRA "B" Team is back to winning form this fall with a 3-0-1 duel match record to start the season. In those four matches our ladies have posted an incredible match record of 18-5 (three of the five losses were forfeits due to scheduling conflicts). Members Paulette Welsch, Jan Snipes, Mary Barber, Sandra Shelley, Pam Fischbach, Gail Waltz, Phoebe Marshall, Barbra Yates, and Melissa Riley have all played well to start this season. Tennis social and cookout October 7th! Play starts at 10:30, burgers and dogs to follow at noon! Members $10.00, Guest $15.00 Call Trey to register (c) 386-675-7802 Come join us and bring a friend!

Book Club will be reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. They will meet October 26 th at 11:30 am. Book club is open to all members and guests. Please call to make reservations. Paint night at the club! Join us for a creative, fun night as Art Nook s Cindra McCoy leads us in a painting of a series titled Four Seasons. This will be Thursday, October 19 th from 6:30-9:30. Order food and drinks from the pub menu while painting your very own masterpiece. Call 803-648- 6805 to make reservations as space is limited.
