DOOLEY DOES MORE THAN DEFEND Sophomore Chantel Dooley is known as a lock-down defender, but she has also displayed her scoring potential on several occasions. Against Sacramento State, Dooley was 7-of-13 from the fl oor for a career-high 19 points. In addition, she had 12 points at Utah Valley, 11 points against Iona and 10 points and four assists vs. Canisius. Dooley continues to be one of the 49ers top defenders with a team-best 28 steals. SOMETHING ABOUT MARY Mary Ochiltree is s lone senior this year. Ochiltree, who was naturally selected as one of three team captains, leads the 49ers in both fi eld goal percentage (44.3) and 3-point fi eld goal percentage (36.1). Ochiltree was one point away from a double-double vs. Canisius, totaling nine points and a careerhigh 10 rebounds. She also had a seasonbest 11 points in a win over Sacramento State and reached double fi gures again with 10 points against Cal Poly. SPARGO FOR THREE Sophomore Lauren Spargo is second on the team with 21 3-pointers made. She has had more than one trey in six games, including a career-high four against Washington (13 points) and Canisius (14 points). Her 14 points vs. the Golden Griffins is a season best. Despite being in a shooting slump over the last three games where she has gone 2-for-15 from behind the arc, Spargo has made 60 threes in her one-plus year career at, which puts her 23 away from breaking into the 49er all-time records. SKORPEN SHINES VS. COLUMBIA Sophomore Sigrid Skorpen topped her career best by nine points as she scored 17 in a win over Columbia. She was 6-for-11 from the fl oor and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Skorpen also totaled four rebounds and two assists. TWIN TOWERS Devin Hudson (6-foot-3) and junior Jade Wilson (6-foot-2) both had breakout performances in a win against Washington on Nov. 18. The duo combined for 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting. Wilson posted a seasonhigh 11 points and eight rebounds, while Hudson also fi nished with 12 points. DOWN TO THE WIRE Eleven of Long Beach State s 17 games have been decided by less than 10 points. Four of those contests went down to the fi nal seconds as the 49ers dropped a pair of buzzer beaters to Iona (60-58) and Santa Clara (68-67), while making the game-winning free throw with 0.6 seconds left in a 50-49 win over Sam Houston State. was then returned the favor on Thursday as it suffered the same fate against UC Riverside, with the Highlanders making a A Glance at the 49ers Overall Record...9-8 Non-Conference...7-5 Big West...2-3 Home...8-3 Away...1-5 Current Streak...L3 Last Win...1/5/13 vs. UC Santa Barbara Last Loss... 1/17/13 vs. UC Riverside Longest Win Streak...5 Longest Losing Streak...3 Current Home Streak...L1 Last Win...1/5/13 vs. UC Santa Barbara Last Loss... 1/17/13 vs. UC Riverside Current Road Streak...L4 Last Win...11/23/12 at Utah Valley Last Loss... 1/13/13 at Hawai i s Record When... Long Beach State, which defeated both Washington and Arizona, fi nished with two wins vs. the Pac-12 (formerly Pac-10) for the fi rst time in 13 years. The 49ers only loss came to perennial national power and then No. 1-ranked Stanford. YEAR OF THE SOPHOMORE Seven of Long Beach State s 11 players are sophomores eligibility-wise. Alex Sanchez, Chantel Dooley and Ella Clark have utilized a redshirt season, while Bianka Balthazar, Lauren Spargo, Devin Hudson and Sigrid Skorpen are all in their second year as a 49er. INJURY REPORT Junior Hallie Meneses is out for the season after suffering an ACL injury in October.
