SCHOOL GROUP REGISTRATION INFORMATION Held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, one day prior to the Marine Corps Marathon, this one-mile run located in the Pentagon North parking lot in Arlington, VA, is for children ages 5 to 12. Groups of at least 50 participants may select to run at 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. 11:20 a.m., or 11:40 a.m. Runners receive a t-shirt, medal, and snacks at the finish line. The MCM Kids Run also features Camp Miles, a free activity area with interactive health and fitness exhibits, games, and giveaways. Group registration allows one person to coordinate the participation of a large, organized group of children. School groups have the opportunity to compete for 1 of 5 Healthy School Awards, which consist of a generous grant from Sodexo, a school assembly, and designation as a Healthy School Award winner. Wave Start The MCM Kids Run will be held in six waves (9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:20 a.m., and 11:40 a.m.). Group registration allows one person to coordinate the participation of a large, organized group of children in a single wave. Packet Pick-up MCM Kids Run participants will be required to obtain their t-shirt and race bib prior to the event at the Health and Fitness Expo located at the Walter E Washington Convention Center on October 23. Registered groups have the opportunity to pick up event materials for all runners in the group at one time. If group payment is received by October 8, shipping of materials to the group coordinator is guaranteed. Group pick up or shipment must be arranged with Sandra at 703.784.2357 or sandra.osbornpeters@usmc.mil at time of payment. *Bibs not available for event day pick up. Course and Start Course maps are available at www.marinemarathon.com. Children should report to the starting area in the Pentagon North parking lot at least 30 minutes prior to their wave time. Finish and Link-up The course for the MCM Kids Run is closed. For the safety of all participants, access to the course is limited to registered runners, MCM staff, and uniformed Marines. After crossing the finish, children will receive their medal and post-event snacks. They will then be escorted to the link-up area. Parents or group leaders can locate their children based on the last number of the child s bib and will need their Kid Claim Coupon for children to be released from the corrals. For group link-ups, the group coordinator will receive a list of runners in numerical order by bib number and full name, provided by the Marine Corps Marathon *Lost child policy. Any lost children will be escorted by a uniformed Marine to the information tent. Camp Miles Parents, families, and runners are invited to visit Camp Miles, a free all-day activity area featuring interactive challenges and games focusing on health and fitness. Camp Miles activities begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. Transportation and Parking The Pentagon Metro Station provides the easiest access to the MCM Kids Run. Shuttle services are available from the Pentagon Metro Station to the Kids Run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Hayes Street parking lot located at the intersection of Joyce Street and Army/Navy Drive in front of Macy s. Shuttle services are available from the Hayes Street parking lot to the MCM Kids Run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Bus parking is available at the Pentagon North parking lot. Attendees must have a parking pass to enter the Pentagon North parking lot by vehicle. Parking passes must be requested from Sandra by October 9. Healthy School Award The top five schools with the largest student participation in the MCM Kids Run will be recognized with this annual award. This honor is reserved exclusively for school groups and includes a visit and assembly featuring the U.S. Marines, Marine Corps Marathon staff, mascots Miles & Molly, snacks for every student, and a generous donation from MCM partner Sodexo. Liability and Public Release Form Participant Information First Name Last Name Liability and Publicity Release Page 1 (Must Be Signed): * Liability & Publicity Release MARINE CORPS MARATHON LIABILITY AND PUBLICITY RELEASE For considering my entry s acceptance in the MCM Kids Run, I the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, waive and release for myself, my heirs, executor and administrators, any and all rights and claims for damages, demands and any other actions, which I may have against the US Marine Corps, US Government, National Park Service, volunteer medical support, all participating supporting agencies and those entities representatives, successors and assignees, from my participation in the event, including any and all injuries suffered by me because of my participation in this event. I verify I have full knowledge of the rigors of this race and the risk involved in participation, including but not limited to trip and fall, loss of orientation, exhaustion, dehydration, hyponatremia, fatigue, over-exertion, sun or heat stroke, cold injuries, hypothermia, and any other injuries related to running and/or endurance events. I assert that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained to complete this event. I realize medical support for this event will consist of primarily of volunteer medical personnel prepared to administer first-aid type assistance along the race course and the finish line. I hereby grant permission to the Marine Corps Marathon and its sponsors to use all information submitted in my application, and any photograph, videotape, motion pictures, recording and any other record of this event including race results, my likeness, name and completion time for any lawful purpose related to the race and post-race publicity. The United States Government has requested that I grant, release, and discharge certain rights arising from my appearance, or the appearance of an infant or minor child for whom I execute custody, in any picture, video, advertisement, or other recording or presentation as a result of my participation in the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), Marine Corps Historic Half, MCM Event Series and other related events. CHECK LIST Distribute MCM Kids Run information to students. Collect group registration forms and payment from students. First Deadline, September 15: Send MCM the # of bibs required for the MCM Kids Run (minimum 50), two preferred wave times, and W-9 tax exempt form. Receive link and password for online registration from Sandra by September 19 if W-9 has been received. Links will not be sent without W-9 form received. Second Deadline, October 5: All MCM Kids Run group participants must be entered in the system via the provided link. No extensions. No exceptions. Links will close 5 p.m. EST. After this time, any additional children wishing to run with your group must sign up online via the MCM website and must pick up their own materials at Packet Pick-up event weekend. Third Deadline, October 8: Receive and verify list of children entered in database. Ensure invoice is accurate by October 8. To secure guaranteed shipment of race materials, return all MCM Kids Run materials. Check payments due today.
