Riding Changes: Nil General: Trainer Mr. J Ramsey was fined $200 (AR140B(2)) for failing to have gear changes approved for Timid (Race 3) & Blazing Issue (Race 8), by the prescribed time. Race 1: Maiden Handicap 1600m Fort Jackson was crowded and lost ground when being steadied passing the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Avalene slow to begin. Schemer slow to begin. When question in relation to his ride from the 700m, B El-lssa explained that his mount was travelling very strongly inside the 800m and despite having the eventual winner racing to his inside, he elected to shift wider passing the 600m to race in a three wide position to go forward. He said that Schemer travelled up to the leaders rounding the home turn without urging, then responded strongly at the entrance of the home straight and established a significant break on the field, however passing the 150m the gelding weakened and could not continue to improve. Taking into account the manner that the eventual winner Magic Charlee ran to the finish no action was taken, however B EL- Lssa was advised that, at all times he must adopt tactics that not only best suit his mount, but are appropriate to the circumstances of the race.
Prince Silence stable representative Mr. J Smith was advised that the gelding must perform competitively in an official barrier trial. Schnell slow to begin. Race 2: Maiden Plate 1300m Mr Piquet raced in restricted room for some distance approaching the home turn. Son Of A Dun began awkwardly. High Flight slow to begin. Miss Eporetto hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Pervenche when questioned D McLellan explained that he had intended to obtain cover in the early stages, however his mount began well and immediately raced fiercely and due to the very slow tempo Pervenche was racing wide and could not be restrained and obtained the lead, despite his endeavours. He added that Pervenche got its tongue over the bit during the early stages which added to the difficulty he experienced in his efforts to have the filly settle and contributed to it weakening in the home straight. Race 3: 3YO Maiden Plate 1100m High Court slow to begin, then raced in restricted room between the 200m and the 100m and could not be tested during this time. Serbelloni hung out rounding the home turn. Dreaming Of Gold was withdrawn at 2.36pm, after being unbale to be placed into the barriers. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets made on Dreaming Of Gold be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers placed prior to 2.36pm, be subject to the following deduction on the face value of the betting ticket: 1 st Fritz s Factor 3 cents Win & 2 cents Place 2 nd Rothman 5 cents Place 3 rd Timid 6 cents Place Stable representative Mr. K Forbes was advised that prior to racing again Dream Of Gold would be required to be placed into the barriers in a timely fashion in an official barrier trial. Notwithstanding this advice, MS Hudson was told that prior to racing again Glam Time must perform competitively in an official barrier trial. Race 4: Benchmark 58 Handicap 1600m Sunday Swindler raced ungenerously when placed under pressure in the home straight. St Luke slow to begin. Subway Surfer slow to begin. Handful Of Aces began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Race 5: Benchmark 66 Handicap 900m Miss Fisher was fractious in the barrier and missed the start (2L). When questioned G Ryan explained that his mount raced ungenerously, however obtained clear running at the entrance to the home straight. He stated that Miss Fisher held its breath during the race and when placed under pressure it exhaled loudly, compounded quickly and did not respond to his urgings. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare displayed a slow recovery rate. Trainer Mrs. J Bowen said that she would have blood tests examined from Miss Fisher before determining whether a racing preparation would be continued. Arleta began awkwardly and was slow away. Mo Tastic missed the start (2L). Trainer Ms. N Hudson was advised that a warning for poor performance would be placed on the mare s racing record. Enjoyable hung in during the early stages. Race 6: Benchmark 58 Handicap 1100m Litt Up began awkwardly. Looksea hung out during the early and middle stages. Dreamy Dragon had to be steadied when crowded momentarily passing the 700m.
Super Cyclone was bumped heavily at the start, became unbalanced and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly was 1/5 lame in the off hind leg. Trainer Mr. B Baker was advised that prior to racing again Super Cyclone must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness. Balmain Girl slow to begin. Ready s Queen B El-lssa, the rider of Quick Nick, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137a), in that near the 800m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Ready s Queen, which had to be checked and lost its established running. Taking into account the significance of the meetings encompassed in the term of the penalty, B Ellssa s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence Monday 4/3/19 and expire 11/3/19, on which day he may resume. Over raced with its head up for some distance inside the 600m. Race 7: Class 4 Handicap 1300m Anchois hung out during the early and middle stages. Valree raced ungenerously during the early stages. Such A Hussy (placed 6 th ). The rider J Hull was fined $150 (AR137b), for failing to ride his mount in at least hands and heels fashion to the end of the race. Roy s Command when questioned T Wolfgram explained that he ceased riding with vigour inside the 150m after failing to gain a response and his mount felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer Mr. T Howlett said that he would have the gelding examined by the stable veterinarian, inclusive of a blood analysis, before a decision was made relative to future racing program. Race 8: Class 1 Handicap 1300m Nitride was hampered and carried wider at the entrance to the home straight. When questioned R Thompson explained that whilst his mount, which was resuming from a spell today, had cover during the middle stages it was trapped wide and after initially responding to his urgings passing the 350m, its condition gave out and the gelding could not continue to improve. Blazing Issue began awkwardly and was slow away.
