Colt 1911 Centenary Contest Round Two Right folks, it should be becoming apparent to you by now that this is a serious contest and we are now moving up a gear. This is the fast & furious round which represents the hell that was the Second World War. The Germans called it Blitzkrieg, Lightning War, and fought it that way. To represent this attitude you now have a round consisting of 3 PIPAS targets. For those of you not familiar with this discipline a full set of rules and regulations is attached below. All three sets of targets shoot to the same rules. Set 1 is the standard target. Set 2 is one of the ideas we went through when developing the idea and since it reminds me of the record Deck of Cards it deserves to be annihilated. Please do this for everyone who heard the record in the 60 s. Set 3 moves us on to the current Middle East wars and the least said there the better. Paddy and I didn t want another set of plain plates so I put locations where the 1911 has seen use in, in recent years on the Plates. Your target is still the bull You have 5 Strings of fire for each PIPAS round so you need 5 of each target. Well, OK you don t NEED them, but about the third string you will be wishing you had them. Shoot well and enjoy Target Bunny

PIPAS (Paper Instead of Plate Action Shooting) This is based on an idea by John Smith, so it is his target and ownership of copyright is his and not mine. What John wants to do is create a paper version of IPAS shooting but without the expense of steel plates and timers. Since he also wants to do it online we need to do away with the adjudicators and scorers needed for the real thing. I think his idea works. Unfortunately Paddy turned it over to me and my twisted little brain put a couple of extra twists in it to make you lot work harder. The original idea and impetus was his so he deserves the credit and you get to swear at me for the awkward bits. Jim Driver A.K.A. Target Bunny, That s him officer and Stop Him! There he goes! So here are your rules:- 1) Scoring is to be inwards and we have 3 zones. The blue zone is the cut off point and is wide enough for Airsoft pellets. You do not score in the blue zone. The main body, defined as anything inside the blue zone and not one of the circular zones, scores 2. The outer circular zone scores 3. The inner white zone scores 5. 2) The rules at 1 apply to the rectangular targets. The circular stop plates do what it says on the label. Hit them and you stop scoring so if you are running out of time you can hit a stop plate and save your score at that point. You may not count any shots after hitting the stop plate. The exception here is the smaller stop plate. This is a BONUS plate and you may take 1 final shot (if you have not already used all six) at this plate to increase your score. This assumes that you have enough time to do this 3) All targets except the Stop Plate are the same size. The inner of the large stop plate and the outer of the small stop plate are the same size. On the large stop plate the outer (red) gives you only your actual score and the inner gives you 1.5 times your actual score. The outer (also red) on the smaller stop plate gives you 1.5 times your score and the inner doubles your score. You can SHOOT at both stop plates but you can only have a score multiplier from one of them. 4) You MUST hit at least one of the stop plates to score. This is the same as IPAS so don t grumble. It is also why you can hit a stop plate at any point. You decide you wish to try for the easier stop plate or the higher scoring one, or both. 5) If you do not hit a target or double hit there is no penalty except as outlined below. 6) Multiple hits on ANY target only count your LOWEST score.

7) This is timed but you get 2.4 seconds for each target. That s 12 whole seconds for all 5 targets. The second stop plate is considered a bonus extra. 8) Stance is a problem for some shooters (hitting the damn thing is my problem) so I suggest UBC standard rules of:- IPAS stance [two handed with gun held in strongest, or favoured, hand, pointed straight down alongside leg, or, holstered, to start], for non handicapped shooters. Those with a handicap who wish to compete may do so with any stance, including seated if in a disabled conveyance providing the gun is held in a starting position which is pointing straight down and held in the strongest or favoured hand to start with. Single or double handed stance may be adopted but no support may be taken from any disabled conveyance if used. 9) Handicapped shooters must declare themselves stating only that they are handicapped. 10) You may use up to 6 shots. 11) Shooting must cease after 12 seconds. 12) Shooting must cease on hitting the STOP plate(s). Shots taken after that will not count 13) There are 5 strings of fire. Timing and rules are identical for every string. 14) Scores are submitted in the following order:- String Number, Actual score, Stop plate multiplier, Final score, Total score for 5 strings. Paddy will publish a table/spreadsheet. 15) The same pistol must be used for all five rounds. Malfunctions are YOUR problem. For each complete contest or round of a contest one substitute pistol may be allowed if malfunction forces the withdrawal of the original pistol. The string where the pistol misfired or malfunctioned will not be scored. 16) Pistol used and reserve pistol must be declared on entering the contest. The fist declared pistol must be used unless it becomes unserviceable. Two pistols of the same type must be identified by serial number and the main pistol declared. 17) The contest organiser will decide, and publish before the contest begins, the number of strings of and the timescale over which the contest will take place if more than one round is to be shot 18) The organiser reserves the right to alter the rules always providing that logical explanation is given PRIOR to the alterations taking place. 19) The organiser may ban or exclude whomsoever the organiser wishes. A full declaration and reason must be given at the time of the ban. 20) In any unforeseen circumstances the organiser may take any action that is seen as reasonable to ensure the contest continues in a fair and reasonable manner.

Some examples for you. RED Dot No score. Yellow Dot 1.5 times actual score. Green Dot Double Score Despite the above enjoy the contest and if you want the authentic IPAS CLANG mount the target in a frame about a metre in front of a hanging steel plate. It has to be far enough away to prevent ricochets putting extra holes in the target. Make certain the plate is not held rigidly. Target Bunny
