SWIM TEAM The Town of Mount Pleasant is proud to offer swim team to all types of swimmers. The four types of swimming programs include a non-competitive 6-12 year old program, a 12-18 year old non-competitive program, a 6-18 year old competitive program, and an adult program. Each of these programs allow for swimmers to progress out of swim lessons into swim team and beyond. Swimming is a lifelong sport that promotes health and fitness for all ages. Phone: 843-856-2536 Email: Doug@mountpleasantswimclub.com Manatees: The Mount Pleasant Swim Club is a year round competitive program operating under the auspices of USA Swimming and South Carolina Swimming. MPSC s mission is to provide swimmers with the tools necessary to achieve personal excellence through the process of goal setting, hard work and commitment within the structure of the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department. Opportunities to compete in swim meets will be offered locally and out of town. Competition is strongly encouraged and recommended. While out of town meets are not mandatory, swimmers are expected to participate in home meets. MPSC encourages hard work for the achievement of personal goals, and focuses on fundamentals and sound technique. MPSC Parent Association: There is a non-refundable fee that is payable to the MPSC Parents Association. The MPSC Parents Association fee covers USA Swimming registration, coaches travel, team events, swimmer incentive programs, and a team t-shirt. In addition to the MPSCPA fee, MPSC members are also expected to participate in the volunteer program. The Minnows is a year-round non-competitive developmental program for ages 6-12. The program provides the opportunity for swimmers to improve their stroke technique and to build endurance in a fun, noncompetitive environment. Swimmers looking to participate must be able to swim a 25 Freestyle and 25 Backstroke. Registration is first come, first serve, PER MONTH. Sharks will be allowed to compete locally if they are interested but must pay the annual registration fee listed below. Each workout is tailored to the individual swimmer whether they are fitness or competitive oriented. Competitions are made available through United States Masters Swimming. Competition is encouraged, but not mandatory. Emphasis is placed on stroke technique and enjoyment of the sport. Under no circumstances should females/males open the opposite sex s locker room door. Must shower before entering pool. Enter pool area from rear of locker/shower area. Read and adhere to all pool rules. Upon leaving - sign out and pick up ID card/lap pass. POOL RULES: Must sign in/out at front desk. Shirt and shoes required in lobby at all times. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (adult being 16 years or older). All patrons must shower prior to entering the pool. Any child unable to swim without parental assistance must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the pool at all times. No running or horse play in building to include pool and deck area. No diving in shallow water. Persons with skin, eye, are or respiratory infections, open sores or lesions and band-aids should not enter the pool. No rough play, shoulder rides or dunking. Proper swim attire is required. Cutoffs, jean shorts and street clothes are not permitted. Children with diapers must wear swim diapers under their bathing suit. No pets in building to include pool and deck area. No food or beverage in pool area. No glassware allowed on pool deck. Must be towel dry and wearing shoes to re-enter lobby area. No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs allowed in the pool. No spitting or blowing nose in the pool. The maximum number of swimmers allowed in the pool is 352. A first aid kit is located in the lifeguard room and in the Aquatics office. Persons with diarrheal illness or nausea are not permitted in the pool. The Mt. Pleasant Recreation Department reserves the right to revoke swim privileges, identification card or lap pass as deemed necessary for the maintenance of good order and discipline. All skills and written test material (including: Lifeguarding, CPR, AED and First Aid) will be tested in a challenge format, with limited review provided. Newly revised skills will be reviewed before testing. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certificates valid for two years. To be eligible for the review course, participants must have successfully completed an American Red Cross Lifeguarding course within the last 4 years and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer course within the last 2 years. You must show proof of certifications on the first day of class. Individuals that do not have eligible certificates may not participate in the review course. They may only participate in a full course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certificates valid for two years.
