The Pacer Newsletter of the Anderson Road Runners Club Wrap-up Edition for the 2010 Season Award Winners from the 2010 season - Rookies of the Year This year s Rookies of the Year are Jennifer Culp and Aaron Thomason. Jennifer is a long-time runner but new to the club. You will be sure to hear more about her as she has joined forces with our crazy marathoning bunch and recently completed her first and second 50k, Tie Dye 50k on a nice cool day in Ohio and Long Cane 50k in South Carolina on a very hot day. Aaron returned to running after being a smoker for years, and he has never looked back. He is shown below after doing his first marathon at Indianapolis Marathon in Lawrence. Aaron had planned to run his first double this spring but was injured. The Dale Johnson Award - Marathoner of the Year She began the year running her first ultra in West Virginia, a tough, hilly, cold test of resolve, The Frozen Sasquatch. In the fall, she repeated her debut marathon, Lawrence s Indianapolis Marathon for a PR of 3:51, narrowly missing her Boston qualifying time. Just a few weeks later, for a new challenge, she ran the Screaming Pumpkin, a night race through an Illinois cemetery. Finishing out the year, she returned to the 50k distance at the Big Dog Ultramarathon in Louisiana. -- Michelle Eskew Not pictured Male Marathoner of the Year Eric Lindley

She and Greg are regulars at Mounds, on Thursday nights and at road series races. It s great to see a couple enjoying running and our club. Male Steve Hedgecraft (not pictured) was a runner for many years and will be the first to tell you, walking is no picnic. Female Rookie Walker of the Year Cari Finley - Cari is a welcome addition to the club and was unable to attend the Awards Dinner. James West Award for Outstanding Youth Chloe Miller is a top runner for Anderson High School in both cross country and track. Chloe s work ethic is second to none. She is a runner many of us in the club have watched grow up and pass us by. Volunteer of the Year Patricia Hart Patricia (not pictured) took responsibility for caring for much of the beautiful landscaping we take for granted around our start line at Shadyside. While others helped pull a weed or two, Patricia was steadfast in weeding and watering. Thanks, Patricia for your dedication and efforts.
Jeff Bailey Service Award is given to a member who has given himself in service to the club. After several years of service to the club as kids run director, then also as president, a few years ago, Frankie returned to his love, the kids run. He brings fun and enthusiasm to the youth, encouraging all of them, fast and slow. His recent efforts include a facebook page to communicate with parents check out We are Roady. Thanks so much for the investment you are making in the community s youth for their health and fitness and for the future of our club. To salute Frankie s effort, come out and help on a Tuesday night.
