EBO, true to its legacy, continued to provide excellent service to the student athletes of the District of Columbia. EBO has provided more than a century of officiating, but even more so, more than a century of Faith, fellowship, and friendships. 2012 started with a new athletic governing body, new uniform patches, background checks, certification and new scrutiny. It wasn t easy at first nor was it a smooth transition. EBO however, made the necessary adjustments, assigned personnel accordingly and EBO officials stepped up their level of professionalism for the good of the Board. As in the EBO mantra, Any position, any time. EBO officials accepted their assignments and performed admirably. An official s versatility is also an opportunity to view different aspects of officiating such as ball rotation, dead ball spots, keys and communications. This year has been a learning experience from many aspects. These experiences will help the EBO continue to provide excellent officiating services in the metro Washington DC area. Always strive to be the best in officiating and in life!

Board of Directors and Officers: Roosevelt McIlwain, President Felton Page, Vice President & Chairman of the Executive Board Carmin Brittain, Secretary James V. Jackson, Treasurer The Power of Prayer has no boundaries! Thank you EBO for your many thoughts, prayers and actions during the illness of Al Big Daddy Forman. We look forward to seeing him back in the classroom uttering his famous words, You can t have a good game without a good pre-game! Mike Cunningham, Membership Derek Hatten, Member-at-Large Toni Morgan, Member-at-Large Ernest Johnson, Member-at-Large Al Forman, Football Commissioner Mike Cunningham, Assistant Football Commissioner Lamont Mahone, Assistant Football Commissioner Al Forman, Football Interpreter Bennis Watkins, Basketball Commissioner Pete Pannell, Assistant Basketball Commissioner Bennis Watkins, Basketball Interpreter Daniel Harrison, Parliamentarian We re on the Web! see us at: http://eboinc.org

Hatten The Right Call, an official publication of the Eastern Board of Officials. About Our Organization The Eastern Board of Officials, Inc., of Washington, D.C., hereafter the EBO is an organization dedicated to sports officiating. At this time our primary sports are basketball and football. The purpose of this organization is to: a) Promote clean sportsmanship through good officiating in all sports; b) Assist in the development of officiating through the press, public interpretation, clinics and demonstrations of the rules in various sports; and c) Serve as a resource for members, the general public and other athletic organizations for sports officiating, rules interpretation, training and other areas and services for the improvement of athletics and good sportsmanship. EBO educates, challenges and inspires officials. Join us for an exciting and promising vocation! The Eastern Board of Officials is currently looking for basketball and football officials. If you are interested and can meet the challenge, Contact: Michael Cunningham at (301) 395-5782 or (202) 502-8353 (work). The Referees Review: Officials play a very important role in the game, from keeping the game rolling along and calling penalties when a rule is broken, to making sure the athletes don't unnecessarily hurt each other. Officials are responsible for monitoring the game clock and play clock, enforcing the rules of the game, and recording all rule infractions.
