Page 2 of 16 BACKGROUND The South Barrier Branch Premiership Series was introduced in the season 2001-02 in an attempt to provide additional Surf Lifesaving competition experiences for South Barrier Branch members. This inaugural series (2001/02) focused on specified craft and water events only Surf Boats, Surf Skis, Surf Boards and Surf Races, as well as a Lifesaver Relay. The inaugural Series was staged over three (3) rounds: Round 1 - Tannum Sands Round 2 - Agnes Water Round 3 - Yeppoon (Senior Branch Championships) 2002-03 SERIES For the 2002-03 season, the name of the Series was changed to the 2002-03 Surf Life Saving Wide Bay Capricorn Premiership Series, due to the change of name of the Branch from South Barrier to Wide Bay Capricorn. The 2002-03 Series was expanded slightly from the successful 2001-02 Series, to include the following: 1. Four (4) Rounds of competition; 2. Beach Events included; and 3. An U15 Cameron Relay included. The format of the Carnivals during the 2002-03 Series remained the same with competition conducted on Saturdays (except for Round 4, which was the 2-day Senior Branch Championships) between 10.30am and 3.30pm (approximately). Rounds during 2002-03 were conducted as follows: Round 1 - Tannum Sands 26 October 2002 Round 2 - Agnes Water 30 November 2002 Round 3 - Agnes Water 21 December 2002 Round 4 - Hervey Bay Senior Branch Championships 8 & 9 February 2003 2003-04 SERIES For the 2003-04 season, the name of the Series was changed to the 2003-04 ERGON ENERGY Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Premiership Series, due to the securing of a naming rights sponsor in the form of ERGON ENERGY. The format for the 2003-04 Series was exactly the same as for the 2002-03 Series, except that the carnivals were spread around the Branch, rather than just being held in a central location.

Page 3 of 16 Rounds during 2003-04 were conducted as follows: Round 1 - Emu Park Saturday 11 October 2003 Round 2 - Bundaberg Saturday 22 November 2003 Round 3 - Agnes Water Saturday 20 December 2003 Round 4 - Tannum Sands Senior Branch Championships 14 & 15 February 2004 2004-05 SERIES For the 2004-05 season, the series again secured the sponsorship from Ergon Energy and was known as the 2004-05 ERGON ENERGY Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Premiership Series. The format for the 2004-05 Series was slightly different to previous years, with some changes made including: New Age Groups (U15, U17) Carnivals were once again held in a central location within the Branch Trialed U17 Single Ski Races Included U15 and U17 Cameron Relays Rounds during 2004-05 were conducted as follows: Round 1 - Tannum Sands Saturday 23 October 2004 Round 2 - Tannum Sands Saturday 13 November 2004 Round 3 - Agnes Water Saturday 18 December 2004 Round 4 - Moore Park Senior Branch Championships 12 & 13 February 2005 2005-06 SERIES For the 2005-06 season, the Series unfortunately lost the sponsorship from Ergon Energy and was known simply as the 2005-06 Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Premiership Series. The format for the 2005-06 Series was exactly the same as for the 2004-05 Series, except for some minor changes relating to the Surf Boat categories. Rounds during 2005-06 were conducted as follows: Round 1 - Tannum Sands Saturday 22 October 2005 Round 2 - Agnes Water Saturday 12 November 2005 Round 3 - Agnes Water Saturday 17 December 2005 Round 4 - Yeppoon Senior Branch Championships 4 & 5 February 2006

Page 4 of 16 2006-07 SERIES Following discussions held at the WBC Branch Planning Workshop and the WBC Branch Board of Surf Sports Meeting, both held in May 2006, it was decided to trial a new format for the 2006-07 Series in order to refresh the Series and also in order to hopefully bolster the attendance at each round. Changes for 2006-07 included: Conducted the Series over 3 Rounds only (2 Rounds + The Senior Branch Championships) Individual Events - Conducted only one (1) round per event per Round - Add an Ironperson Race and Rescue Tube race for each age group Team Events - Deleted the Open Lifesaver Relay Event - Added an Open Male and Female Taplin Relay - Added a Beach Relay for U15, U17 and Open Male and Open Female age categories Surf Boat Events - Plan was to conduct the following age categories only Open Men s, Reserve Grade and Open Women s - Plan was also to conduct 4-round Round Robin format at each Round per age group - However, surf boat events were not conducted at any rounds, except for the Senior Branch Championships An U17 Men s Single Ski and U17 Women s Single Ski was again trialled, but all competitors had to be a minimum of 16 years of age (at midnight 30 th September 2006) AND have a current and proficient Bronze Medallion. Rounds 1 and 2 of the Series were again conducted on Saturdays so as to provide minimal disruption to normal Club operations (i.e. Beach Patrols). These early rounds were also conducted within a 5-hour time-frame 10.30am to 3.30pm which allowed sufficient travel time for all Clubs on the same day as the carnival. The carnivals were conducted as per the following: Round 1 Saturday 21 October 2006 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 4 November 2006 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 February 2007 Bundaberg 2007-08 SERIES and BEYOND Since the 2007-08 Season, the WBC Branch Premiership Series events have been conducted as per the 2006-07 Series (above), with the only exception being the introduction of the Under 17 Taplin Relay in 2008-09, and a change to the pointscore system, which was introduced in 2009-10, that affected the points awarded from the Senior Branch Championships events.

Page 5 of 16 Once again, the Surf Boat events were not conducted in any year since and including 2007-08 due to no nominations being received for any of the rounds. The carnivals were conducted as per the following: 2007-08 Round 1 Saturday 20 October 2007 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 17 November 2007 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 16 February 2008 Emu Park & Sunday 17 February 2008 Emu Park 2008-09 Round 1 Saturday 18 October 2008 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 15 November 2008 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 7 February 2009 Moore Park & Sunday 8 February 2009 Moore Park 2009-10 Round 1 Saturday 10 October 2009 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 5 December 2009 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 13 February 2010 Tannum Sands & Sunday 14 February 2010 Tannum Sands 2010-11 Round 1 Saturday 9 October 2010 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 27 November 2010 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 19 February 2011 Hervey Bay & Sunday 20 February 2011 Hervey Bay 2011-12 Round 1 Saturday 8 October 2012 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 26 November 2012 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 3 March 2012 Yeppoon Sunday 4 March 2012 Yeppoon (Wide Bay Capricorn Branch senior Championships) 2012-13 Round 1 Saturday 6 October 2013 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 24 November 2013 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 9 & 10 March 2013 Bundaberg 2013-14 Round 1 Saturday 19 October 2013 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 7 December 2013 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 February 2013 Tannum Sands

At the Surf Sport meeting held in July 2015, the committee has decided to move Round 1 to later in the season and Round 2 to January 2016. 2015-16 Round 1 Saturday 21 November 2015 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 30 January 2016 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 February 2016 Emu Park 2016-17 Round 1 Saturday 19 November 2017 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 21 January 2017 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 January 2017 Hervey Bay 2017-18 Round 1 Saturday 25 November 2017 Agnes Water Round 2 Saturday 13 January 2018 Agnes Water Round 3 Saturday 24 & 25 February 2018 Yeppoon 2018-19 WBC BRANCH PREMIERSHIP SERIES will be conducted using the same format and similar timing as the previous three seasons (with male and female age group extended to 60+) The decision to maintain the Status Quo was taken in view of the support shown by respondents in the recent Sports Survey. Also taken into account was the current SLSQ Sports Review being undertaken, and the SLSA rollout of their Modified Sport Product.

Page 7 of 16 It seemed prudent not amend anything until SLSA & SLSQ had revealed the outcomes of their reviews and planned implementation.
