Around the Creek Message from the Saprae Creek Board Thank you to everyone who came out for the Community Clean up on May 26th. It was a beautiful day and we had a great turn out to ensure that the streets of Saprae Creek were covered in our clean up. A BIG thank you to Michelle Archibald and Pam Garbin for putting together a great event topped off with a BBQ steak lunch. We would also like to thank Gord Archibald for cooking the steaks to perfection, June Leclair for preparing some fantastic salads, Marilyn Rustad for organizing some great seedling giveaways, and Tracy Under for face painting. SAPRAE CREEK COMMUNITY

CLEAN UP

Around the Creek Thank you to the GREAT group of Ladies that come out to Vista Ridge on Thursday nights. It has been a great 10 months of YOGA in THE CREEK! A BIG thank you to Marianne Baron for coming out to give us a chance to relax after a long day. This time around we were able to purchase eye pillows and YOGA BAGS for everyone sponsored in part by HEALING TOUCH MASSAGE. Both items will be sure to be put to good use. We are taking the summer off and hope to see you in the Fall. Watch the newsletter for the next round of classes.

Community News This summer The Alberta Summer games is being held in Lethbridge between July 26-29. Triathlon is a sport that is included in these games. This year, Zone 7 (Fort McMurray) is able to send 3 boys and 3 girls ages 12/13 to this event. The Alberta Triathlon Association pays for transportation, some meals, and accommodations for all of these kids PLUS- 2 Adult coaches/chaperones for a $30 registration fee.(i'm sure our club would also cover that) What do we need to do to make this happen? We need a male and a female parent to step up and go to this event with the kids on a bus that will transport ALL of the sports representatives from Zone 7. One will be called "coach" and one will be called "chaperone". Accommodations are apparently dorms of some kind. I was thinking that some of you that have been helping out at the Sunday Blitzes may have a desire to do this. During our Kids of Steel Race an Alberta Triathlon Association rep will be here to help us walk through the registration process. We basically see which 3 boys and 3 girls are willing to go and represent our zone. Then we have 2 adults(1 male, 1 female) accompany the kids on the bus to the event. I really hope we can make this happen and have representation at this event. Are any of you interested and able to commit this time? Please get back to me ASAP! darcimiller@rocketmail.com WORRY FREE PET CARE IN SAPRAE CREEK I will walk your dog if you are busy at work OR if you are away for a few days. I will make multiple visits throughout the day. Other services available as required. The Replacement of the Riblet Chair To make way for the new Wilson Chair currently being constructed at Vista Ridge, the existing Riblet Chair is being removed. Although these lifts take a number of months to install, the removal has proven to be a much quicker process. On Sunday 27 th May 2012, a KMAX helicopter arrived at Vista to remove the towers from their foundations and lay them in the parking lot, ready for transport to its new home in Peace River. An impressive process to watch, the helicopter removed all 12 towers in under 1 hour. Foundations for the new chair have been started, with the footings poured for the top station. We are all hoping the fine weather continues at least until the foundations are poured. The new lift will boast some major improvements over the existing, such as: Approximately 1.5 minutes shorter ride time Stronger, smoother and more comfortable to ride Only 7 towers instead of 12 on the current lift Manufacturer s warranty and support (manufacturer of existing chair is no longer in business) The new lift will be ready for operation in the upcoming winter season.
