CAPTAINS MEETING 7 TH APRIL 2013 Treasurers Balance: - 2431.49 The accounts are now available for you to look at for last year. You should have picked a copy up when you paid your subs. Are there any queries on it? Fixtures: Following the first game of the season on Wednesday, we had a few queries, so just to clarify: The format is 6 singles and two doubles. A player can play in one single and one double. If a player plays two singles or two doubles, the second game will be invalid and you will lose any points gained that way the point will be awarded to the opposing team and you will also be fined. If you do not have enough players to fulfill each frame, then you enter no player on the card. If the result ends in a draw, then the home team is responsible for delivering the card. I am sure everyone knows by now that the box has moved from Tim s and is now here at the club. Deadline for delivering your card is still Saturday 3pm following the match. Competitions: You should have collected entry forms for the Mens Indis, Mens Pairs and Ladies Indis today. These are due in at the next Captains Meeting which is Sunday 12 th May. This will also be the deadline for entries to the Mens comps as I am going on holiday on the Wednesday and will need to do the draws before I go so that they can go on the website in plenty of time. The Ladies Indi draw will be done when I get back. You may have noticed on the planner that the Mixed Pairs competition has been moved to the winter this is because more ladies play in the winter so it will hopefully be better supported. We will be looking at Finals night s this year; we may run 2 or 3 finals on one night with semis played before on another night. We can t decide this beforehand in case the same person is in more than one final. Ref s exams: More refs exams will take place this year dates to be confirmed. Please see Micky or Norman about this. Remember, you need to have a least one qualified ref on your team. Website: We have a brand new website which is now live. There is a link to it on the old one but the address is WWW.MACCLESFIELDPOOLLEAGUE.COM. Jane has worked really hard on this and will be administering it. If you have any suggestions or queries, please let Jane know. Any information you need to know about our league at all is on there. If there are teams that won anything last year that have not yet collected their trophies, please pick them up no later than next Saturday from Olympus Trophies on Duke Street. Any that are not collected will be either disposed of or reused next year. Charity Match: Last night we held the charity match between the Legends of Yesteryear and the Superstars of today. After a fun evening, it was won by The Superstars of Today for the third year running. The total raised was a fantastic 839.00. A big thank you to everybody who supported this. The proceeds will be going to Park Lane Special School, which will allow them to buy some much needed equipment. 3 aside Mini League Open to all, a mini league of 3-a-side incorporating the world rules will run, starting on the 2nd May at SSSC and played thereafter on a Thursday. 9 single frames per match with a max of 4 players per team. If you would like to play, please enter your team before 20th April at SSSC, the cost is 3.00 per player. A week prior to it starting, a practical clarification of the world rules will take place. Please note that this is not being administered by us, although we will support it with the use of our website. If there are any queries, please contact Norman directly or Dave Cobey.

CAPTAINS MEETING SUNDAY 12 MAY 2013 Treasurers Report: 3238.75 Fixtures: Nothing to report, except the Mulberry Bush B team in the F League have dropped out the league and this has been replaced with a bye. Competitions: You should have returned your entries in today for the Mens Indis, Mens Pairs and ladies Indis. We normally give a few days grace on Competition entries, however I am going on holiday on Wednesday so will need to do the draws for the Mens comps tonight. Today is the deadline for entries for these two comps. The draws will go on the website this week. You should have collected entry forms for the Vets and 3 s today, which will be due in at the June Captains Meeting. Refs Exam: We have not got a confirmed date yet for the next Refs exams, but we are taking names for those that are interested in doing the next one. Please see Micky or Norman Website: Our brand new website has been running for a few weeks now. Hopefully you have all checked it out. There is a lot of information on there, and it should cover everything you need to know. If there are any suggestions for any other info you would like on there, please see Jane. Trophies: There are still some trophies that have not been collected, we have them here with us today. If they are yours, please take them with you today. We have nowhere to store them, and will have to dispose of them if not claimed. Committee: I would like to formally welcome Trevor Gregory on to the Committee. He has joined us recently and brings with him a wealth of experience on similar Committees. We would still like one more person to join us. If you are interested, and think you have something to offer for our League, please come and see me. Captains Meeting Sunday 2 nd June Treasurers Report:- 4318.75 Fixtures:- No issues with fixtures, but can I remind everyone to put full names on the result cards, it s a nightmare for Jane when entering the results if not. Competitions:- You should have returned your entries in today for the Vets, 3 s and Ladies Pairs. There will be some grace for late entries for these comps, the deadline will be next Saturday. The draws will go on the website. In the prelim draws of these comps, if your name is not there, then you have a bye through to the next round. If you are not going to be available to play on the specified dates, please rearrange in plenty of time and don t forget to let me know. If I have to chase results in, you will be fined. All rearranged games must be played before the next round. Refs Exam:- We have not got a confirmed date yet for the next exam, but we are taking names for those that are interested in doing the next one, please see Norman. Website:- Please keep your eye on the website, there is a lot of information on there and it should cover everything you need to know. If there are any suggestions for any other information you would like on their, please see Jane. Committee:- We would still like one more person to join us. If you are interested and think that you have something to offer for our league, please come and see me. AOB:- John Shea queried the format for the 7-aside. It was explained that the format will be the same as the league currently plays and in the case of a draw, one more frame is to be played for a win. This allows a player who has already played in a single and/or double to play again. Draw:- 100.00 SSSC D 50.00 Lord Byron A 40.00 St Dunstan A 30.00 Red Lion 20.00 Flowerpot H/rd Ladies

Captains Meeting Sunday 7 th July Just before we start the meeting, I would like us all to take a minute as a mark of respect to a fellow League Member. Last month we were all shocked and very saddened to hear of the death of Johnny Hannan. Johnny was a very popular and well liked member of Macclesfield Pool League. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. Let us all take a quiet minute to reflect Treasurers Report:- 5224.75 Fixtures:- The Town House has now closed, and the team will be playing the rest of their home fixtures from the SSSC. No issues with fixtures this month, however, we are wondering how you are all going on with the new format. We would like some feedback on this. At the moment we are presuming that all is well Competitions:- This weeks competitions are Mens Individuals on Tuesday night, and the Vets is next Sunday. I will be doing 7 Aside Draws soon if you DO NOT want to enter this comp please let me know this week. Just to clarify, with the new format, in the 7 Aside if it is a draw, then each team will nominate a player from the matchcard and there will be a play off like we used to do in the League Cup. The player must have played in the match. Website:- All info you should need regarding pool is on the website. Please look at it regularly for up to date information Committee:- We have a new Committee Member, I would like to Welcome Lee Holmes in joining us to help run your league. While I am on the subject of Lee, after 15 years of playing in our league, he has achieved his first 8 ball, then blow me he has got another straight after! Refs Exam:- The date for the next Refs Exam has been set it will be on Sunday 4 th August at 7pm, here at the Club. This one is now full, but if you have not yet got a qualified member on your team, please see Norman about booking in for the next one. Anyone that has booked in for the August session, could you see Norman after the meeting for the forms. AOB:- Neil Gibbons questioned the time limit between shots. During a match, from the break, the player took 3 minutes, then just as he was about to play his shot, the Ref reminded him to nominate. It was confirmed that this was deemed as coaching. The match was played and not disputed. Neil wanted to highlight the fact that people are taking more than the minute and half guideline, and refs are allowing this. Draw:- 100 Nags Head Ladies 50 Silktown Snooker A 40 Last Orders B 30 Railway View A 20 Fox & Grapes Football card won by Gary Sharples

Captains Meeting Sunday 4 th August Treasurers Report:- 5673.75 Fixtures:- The Mens Summer League has now finished. Congratulations to all the Winners and Runners Up, we hope you have enjoyed the season. Play offs for winners, runners up and Merits will be on Wednesday 14 th August, here at the club. This will be announced on the website. Competitions:- This weeks competitions are Mens Pairs 3 rd Round on Tuesday, 7 Aside prelim on Wednesday, and Vets next Sunday. Just to clarify, with the new format, in the 7 Aside if it is a draw, then each team will nominate a player from the matchcard and there will be a play off like we used to do in the League Cup. The player must have played in the match. The Draw is on the website, if your team is not there then you have a bye. The match is to be played at the venue of the first team drawn. When rearranging any comps, please remember to let the Landlord/lady at the venue you. Failure to do so may result in the table not being available for your rearranged match Website:- All info you should need regarding pool is on the website. Please look at it regularly for up to date information. Refs Exam:- The next Refs Exam is tonight here at the club. If you have got your name down for this, please remember to turn up. Don t forget, we all give up our own time to organise these things, and it is so annoying when people don t turn up. If you have not yet got a qualified member on your team, please see Norman about booking in for the next one. This is the last Summer League Captains Meeting. But next month will be Winter League Registration. You should have collected entry forms today for this. They will also be available on the website. Winter Registration will be on Sunday 1 st September here at the club at 7pm. We are keen to try and avoid Byes in the leagues, so it will be a first come first served basis. Any team registering on the night will be fine, but late entries will only be accepted if we have a slot for them. It is in your best interest to get your form to us on the night. There will be no meeting, you can just register then go. We have had a few complaints this season regarding tables, so we will be carrying out table inspections over the next few weeks. If you know your table does not reach our standards, please speak to your Landlord to get this rectified before the Winter League starts. If you are not sure what the standard is, please check the General Rules on the Website AOB:- None Draw:- 100 Pack Horse B

CAPTAINS MEETING Sunday 6 th October 2013 Treasurers Report: 8821.77 Fixtures: Jane has had a few phone calls from teams querying why their team is in a different league than last year. Just to clarify the reasons for this. First of all, we have gone from a 12 team league to a 10 team league, thus creating an extra league. A couple of teams have split and therefore been placed accordingly. Also there are 8 teams that have not entered this year, so this reflects on the next team above them. When compiling these leagues, every consideration is taken into account so that we can ensure they are as fair as we can get them. Hopefully this won t happen again as we will try and stick to 10 team leagues if possible. This is always subject to the amount of entries. Please remember to get your result cards into the box by Saturday, so that Jane can update the leagues as soon as possible...and of course you will avoid being fined. Competitions: You should have put your entries in today for the Mixed Pairs and Open competitions. If you have forgotten, we will leave this open until next Saturday. Late entries into the box on the bar please. The draw will be done after that and will be on the website. Refs Exam: If you have still not got a qualified ref on your team, please nominate someone to take it and give your name to Norman. We will set a date for this when we have enough numbers. Website: The website is updated all the time you should find any information you need about Pool on there. Please check it regularly Presentation: The Presentation Evening has been booked for Saturday 8 th March. Please make a note of this, we expect all Winners and Runners up to attend.
