Home practice and practice music You will have received a copy of your child s practice music in your inbox recently. Please make it accessible for your child to listen to at home and if possible put aside some practice time. We have found home practice can go a long way to building your child s confidence in class and in preparation for going on stage. What you need to supply Shoes and tights and underwear Shoes required: Black jazz shoes Tights required: Skintone coloured gloss stirrups dance stockings Underwear required: Flesh coloured undies & flesh bra (if required) All performing dancers require the correct shoes and all female dancers require the correct tights. Make sure you put your childs name inside both shoes and they come dressed in their tights to the dress rehearsal and concert. Shoes and tights will need to be purchased at a dance shop. Skin coloured knickers and some bra options can be purchased at Best & Less, Kmart or Target. More specific dance underwear is available at Energetiks in Ivanhoe. Hair Tuesday 7pm Advanced Adults: To be discussed in class. We endeavour to keep hair do's as simple as possible but do require you to use hair gel and hairspray for every student (all fringes must be pinned off the face). All students have a minimum of 3 costume changes which will result in fluffy, frizzy, flyaway hair by the end of the performance. Please watch the relevant video below (only 2 mins) to show you how to get the most Awesome hair do. 2
Makeup Make up will be required by all performing dancers. Please remember, make up is not used to make students look older but to stop the students from looking washed out and to define the facial features under the stage lights in our very beautiful, but very large theatre. Make up does not need to be over the top and the younger the student, the less make up required. Please use the following as a guide for applying your concert makeup (there are plenty of tutorials online also). How to apply your child's make up 1. Apply face foundation same as the skin colour. 2. Apply powder to the face to set the foundation. 3. Use an eyebrow pencil to define the eyebrows (not more than 2 shades darker). 4. Apply a darker brown eyeshadow to the crease of the eyelid. 5. Apply a lighter brown eyeshadow to the rest of the eye area (under the eyebrow and on the eyelid). 6. Use an eyeliner to draw along the upper and lower eyelid along the eyelash line (Not required for Little ones). 7. Apply mascara to the upper and lower eyelashes. (Not required for the Little ones). 8. Apply a pink coloured blush in a sweeping motion just below the cheek bone back towards the hair line. 9. Apply a red lipstick (girls only). Hair and make up is required at our dress rehearsal week and at the end of year performance but not at the Stage rehearsal on Friday. Please let us know if you need any help with your hair and makeup. Makeup artist If you are not confident in applying or do not own make up, we will have a makeup artist available to assist you in the theatre the day of the performance. Bookings will be essential and there will be a cost per child. Details of how to book will be emailed closer to the performance date. 3
