Firebird Fortzando WONDERFUL WORLD Oct. 22, 2018 A message from your director: Congratulations, we have made it to the most important and pivotal week of our season. Our Homeshow and Championships are just days away. Think for a second about where we started this season. Think about where we were at the end of band camp, for our first state fair performance, at our first competition at ESM, or our first competition with props at West Genny...and think where we are now. We are truly mastering this show and I am beyond excited to see what you are able to do as we push to the end of the season. Please make sure to thank you parents for all of their support...from rides to and from rehearsal, to supporting you and cheering you on in competitions, to being chaperones or pit and prop crew. Make sure to thank your staff for pushing you each and every rehearsal to become a better version of yourself. Lastly, give yourself a pat on the back. IT IS YOU that has dedicated your time and efforts to being here making this show and this program stronger each and every practice. We are all so very proud of you! This has been one of the most enjoyable seasons for me as both your director and your designer. You all have truly made this year one that I will remember and I could not be more proud and honored to lead this group through the tunnel for another Dome Championship on Sunday. Everyone is waiting to see what we can do, so lets put on the best runs of our lives. Your Director, Mr. Gerling

DOME ETIQUETTE FOR FAMILIES (We know you're proud so be loud!) As Firebird families, you have an important tradition to uphold -- FIREBIRD FAMILIES ARE THE LOUDEST AND PROUDEST FAMILIES AT ANY FIELD BAND SHOW! To assist you in this goal, please take to heart the following suggestions. 1. BE THERE (yes, we know you have work the next day)...and BRING YOUR OTHER CHILDREN (yes, they have school and bedtimes, but young Firebirds need to find their fire!) AND BRING YOUR RELATIVES, NEIGHBORS, and PEOPLE ON THE STREET (don't actually kidnap people though - that's frowned upon)! We have a smaller group in the stands because we have people on the field. (THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR STAFF, FIELD CREW, AND CHAPARONES; WE APPRECIATE ALL YOUR TIME AND EFFORT!). Make someone an "honorary Firebird"! Why should someone be deprived just because they don't have a child / live in the wrong school district/ have never met you before? 2. SIT TOGETHER AND BE SEEN! TRY FOR THE 50 YARD LINE CLOSE TO THE FIELD! (It's more important to be seen by YOUR Firebirds than to have the best view of the show!) This is not a time for sitting with people from other school districts (even if she is your best friend from high school and lives in Corning and is only up for the weekend and you didn't see her at the home show because you were working the show. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO IS WORKING THE HOME SHOW; YOU MAY NOT BE IN THE STANDS AT THE SHOW, BUT WE KNOW YOUR HEART WILL BE ON THE FIELD WITH OUR FIREBIRDS!) 3. STAND UP AND CHEER when - YOUR Firebirds take the field! - YOUR Firebirds are announced during retreat! (IT'S TIME TO SHOW YOUR LOVE AND PRIDE!) Standing during a concert is rude. Standing during a field band show is IMPORTANT - YOUR FIREBIRD CAN SEE YOU FROM THE FIELD! The people behind you - will understand if their child is from another school. - should be standing, too, if they're Firebirds! 4. BE LOUD! LEAD A CHEER! (Feel free to make one up if you don t know one ) MAKE NOISE! 5. DO NOT LEAVE BEFORE THE END OF RETREAT! Leaving early is rude and socially unacceptable! Firebird families ALWAYS stay until the end! 6. WEAR ORANGE AND BLACK! EVERY FIREBIRD'S HEART IS ORANGE! FIND YOUR INNER FIREBIRD AND LET IT OUT TO CHEER AT THE DOME!
