Towson leads the alltime series, 25-22.

Streaks, Trends and Notes: - The 72 points scored against UNC Wilmington on February 7 marked a season-high and the 14 made three-pointers against the Seahawks are a new school record (since 1987-88). - Freshman forward Britné Rodgers, named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on January 28, has reached double figures in scoring 15 times this season, including in 12 of the last 18 Pride games. Rodgers recently had a 16-point, 15-rebound effort versus UNC Wilmington on March 2. It was the third career doubledouble for Rodgers. - Freshman guard Candice Bellocchio dished out a game and careerhigh 10 assists versus Northeastern on February 10. It marked the most assist in a game by a Pride player since Jeanell Hughes had 10 vs. Stony Brook on March 15, 2006. Bellocchio most recently poured in a game and career-high 21 points at Old Dominion on March 6. - Junior guard Niki Williams currently leads Hofstra in assists, steals, minutes played and is the only player on the team to start all 29 games this season. She is also second on the team in rebounding and third in scoring. - Hofstra s overtime game against Northeastern on February 10 was the Pride s first overtime game since a 91-85 overtime victory over Delaware on February 12, 2006. - Hofstra, which out rebounded Towson, 40-38, on February 14 has out-rebounded 83 of its last 134 opponents. Hofstra held Drexel on February 3 to the lowest rebound total for a Pride opponent (23) this season and the fewest since Rhode Island grabbed just 22 in a 66-61 Hofstra victory on December 9, 2003. - Hofstra has made a three-pointer in 278 of its last 283 games. The current streak is 41 games in a row. - The Pride is 42-4 in its last 46 games when they hold their opponent under 60 points (5-3 this season, 20-1 last season, 11-0 in 2005-06 and 5-0 in 2004-05). - Since becoming a Division I program in the 1982-83 season, Hofstra is 42-9 all-time when scoring 80 or more points in a game (3-0 last season). Joining Hofstra in the 2008-09 academic year will be Nicole Capurso (Staten Island, NY), Joelle Connelly (Arcade, NY) and Kim Watson (New York, NY). I am excited to bring this trio of student-athletes to Hofstra University and our Women's Basketball program, commented Kilburn-Steveskey. They are very skilled basketball players and will be wonderful additions to the Hofstra community. In our last two recruiting classes we have answered some of our biggest needs and my staff and I look forward to having the opportunity to coach Nicole, Joelle and Kim. A student at St. John Villa Academy in Staten Island, New York, Capurso averaged 18.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, three assists and two steals a game as a 5-9 guard for the Villa Bears in 2006-07. That came on the heels of a freshman campaign where she chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists per game and a sophomore season in which she averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. During her junior season Capurso became just the third player in school history to reach 1,000 career points and she was a Staten Island Advance All-Star and a member of the New York Sportswriters Association All-State team. In the recent Metro Classic on October 21, an event that features 24 of the area s top talent, Capurso led all scorers with 18 points and added eight rebounds and four steals. It was her third appearance in the all-star contest. Connelly, a 6-3 center/forward, will join the Pride from Pioneer Central High School in Yorkshire, New York. Entering her senior season, Connelly had already totaled 1,669 career points and 1,200 career rebounds. In her junior campaign she averaged 24.2 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks and three assists per game as the Panthers were the Section 6 Class A-2 Champions and undefeated in Erie County Division III play. Last season, Connelly earned All-Western New York Player of the Year honors from the Buffalo News. A member of back-to-back gold medal-winning squads at the Empire State Games, Connelly was named to the Class A All-New York State third team. Watson, a 6-4 center, averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks per game as a junior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bronx, New York. Watson helped the Lady Knights advance all the way to the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) A Division "AA" title game, before falling to the nation s #4 ranked team (USA Today), Murry Bergtraum. JFK finished the 2006-07 campaign with a 22-6 record and was ranked 12th in the final New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSA) poll. Watson was rated the 90th best recruit in the nation by Dan Olson s Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.

Third Time s A Charm: Freshman forward Britné Rodgers picked up her third CAA Rookie of the Week honors on January 28 after averaging 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds against James Madison and Virginia Commonwealth. She is tied for the conference lead with Dawn Evans of JMU and Brittany Blackwell of UNC Wilmington, who have each won the award three times as well. CAA Legend: Each season every CAA Women s Basketball program is asked to picked a legend to honor during the CAA Women s Basketball Tournament. This year s legend from Hofstra is Leslie Schlegel-Danowski. The second all-time winningest coach in Hofstra Women s Basketball history with 90 victories, Leslie Schlegel-Danowski played both women s basketball and softball at Hofstra during her scholastic days. The single-game school record holder with 24 rebounds against Drexel during the 1990-91 season, Schlegel-Danowski ranks 10th all-time in rebounds at Hofstra with 583 despite playing just two seasons of basketball for the Pride. Schlegel- Danowski scored 616 points during her stellar two-year career, averaging a double-double with nearly 11 points per game and 10 rebounds per outing. During her 58-game basketball career, Schlegel-Danowski led Hofstra in scoring on 10 occasions with her career-high of 23 points coming against Iona during the 1989-90 campaign. One of the most accomplished pitchers in the history of the Pride Softball program, Schlegel-Danowski ranks sixth all-time in wins (44), sixth in appearances (79) and fifth in starts (71) and innings pitched (505). She is also eighth all-time in strikeouts (231). Currently the head girls basketball coach at Bay Shore High School in Bay Shore, New York, Schegel-Danowski and her husband, Dave, have two sons, William age 4 and Andrew age 2.
