Gatt ----------------------------------- RACE 1 : MAX KLUSKE MEMORIAL STEEPLE 3292 metres TRENCHTOWN (IRE) (A. Lynch) raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. SINGERSONGWRITER (M. Kelly) made the fourth jump awkwardly. TRENCHTOWN (IRE) (A. Lynch) made the seventh jump awkwardly. TRENCHTOWN (IRE) (A. Lynch) landed awkwardly after making the tenth jump. SINGERSONGWRITER (M. Kelly) made the tenth jump awkwardly. EEN LEVEN (P. Gallagher) fell at the eleventh jump. The fallen horse and rider were uninjured. EEN LEVEN was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. TRENCHTOWN (IRE) (A. Lynch) was obliged to alter course after making the eleventh jump to avoid the fallen horse and rider. SINGERSONGWRITER (M. Kelly) made the eleventh jump awkwardly. RACE 2 : SAMBEC SHEDS HURDLE - 3292 metres RESETABLE (NZ) (M. Kelly) was slow to begin. BALLINGALL BOY (N. O Shea) made the seventh jump awkwardly. TARGET EXPLORER (B. Small) was eased out of the event in the vicinity of the 450 metres. Trainer, Mr G. Dunn advised Stewards the gelding would now be retired from jumping races. TARGET EXPLORER was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 3 : MIKE MASON FENCING / SABOIS TWO-YEARS-OLD & OVER MAIDEN PLATE - 1406 metres BOOM BOOM GEORGE (D. Caboche) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting LONDON TRADER (P. Gatt). BRILLIANT CREATION (D. Tootell) jumped away awkwardly. SUPER SWIFT (J. Toeroek) raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. SUPER SWIFT (J. Toeroek) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight and approaching the 100 metres shifted in onto EXALTED LILY (K. Bishop) forcing that mare to race in restricted room for a short distance. WIN S GREY ROSE (NZ) (M. Neilson) suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the running of this event and was suspended from racing for a period of three months in accordance with AR53A. Trainer, Mr Hickmott advised Stewards the filly would now be retired. P. Gatt, the rider of LONDON TRADER, which performed below expectations, explained that in his opinion the gelding had some breathing difficulties during the event and he has recommended that the stable consider the application of a tongue tie. LONDON TRADER was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. D. Caboche, the rider of BOOM BOOM GEORGE, reported that in his opinion, the gelding was not comfortable in its action. BOOM BOOM GEORGE was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 4 : ZOE WEST HAPPY 21 ST BIRTHDAY / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1206 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes owing to GRACE VONFIRE and SILENT SINNER proving difficult to load. Trainers, Mr J. Hickmott and Mr B. Bogarts were advised that warnings had been placed on their runners in relation to their barrier manners. MISS MARIGOLD (T. Zanker) was slow to begin. BLONDE MISSILE (J. Holder) shifted out on jumping away contacting SILENT SINNER (A. Herrmann). MOLTO VIVACE (A. Doyle) was inconvenienced on jumping away when tightened between JELLICLE MISS (J. RACE 4 : ZOE WEST HAPPY 21 ST BIRTHDAY / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1206 metres (Cont d) GRACE VONFIRE (P. Gatt) raced wide without cover throughout the event. FLYING FEATHERS (D. Tootell) laid in throughout the event. From approaching the 400 metres until near the 200 metres GOLDEN CLASS (T. Pannell) had difficulty obtaining clear ground when awkwardly placed between the heels of FLYING FEATHERS (D. Tootell) and POINSETTIA (S. Cahill). Ms M. Hodge, the Trainer of MISS MARIGOLD, was advised a warning had been placed on the mare in relation to it being uncompetitive. Ms Hodge advised Stewards that the mare would now be retired. FLYING FEATHERS was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 5 : ACKMAC IRRIGATION & TRENCHING RATING 0-58 HANDICAP - 1406 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute to avoid a clash with an interstate race. URANIA BELL (R. Bell) jumped away awkwardly. On jumping away PORTICI (T. Pannell) and CHAT ME UP (J. Holder) came together and brushed. In the vicinity of the 1000 metres RORY S UNION (R. Hurdle), which was racing fiercely, had to be checked when JETMAKER (S. Carr) shifted in. S. Carr was severely reprimanded and advised in future to ensure she was sufficiently clear prior to commencing to shift ground. In the vicinity of the 300 metres PORTICI (T. Pannell) shifted out to improve and in doing so brushed with URANIA BELL (R. Bell) on a number of occasions. Approaching the 100 metres URANIA BELL (R. Bell) shifted in to obtain a run to the inside of VILLE DE BERNE (Z. Spain) and in doing so inconvenienced PORTICI (T. Pannell), which was tightened onto GRIGIO NOW (E. Boyd). CALLMEDAN (R. Mayers) laid in severely in the straight. CALLMEDAN was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 6 : CARLTON DRAUGHT RATING 0-58 HANDICAP - 1406 metres TOKEN ONE (A. Herrmann) was slow to begin. LYDIARD (R. Hurdle) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after was inconvenienced when contacted by HILL TOP HOOLIGAN (J. Holder), which shifted in on jumping away. Approaching the 400 metres until near the 300 metres LIMBO QUEEN (D. Tootell) was held up when awkwardly placed between the heels of HILL TOP HOOLIGAN (J. Holder) and TRIPLESS (T. Pannell). RACE 6 : CARLTON DRAUGHT RATING 0-58 HANDICAP - 1406 metres (Cont d) RAIN ATTACK (T. Zanker) laid in under pressure in the straight. In the vicinity of the 200 metres LIMBO QUEEN (D. Tootell) shifted to the outside of RAIN ATTACK (T. Zanker) to improve and in doing so inconvenienced TRIPLESS (T. Pannell), which had to be momentarily steadied. D. Tootell was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in future. Over the concluding 100 metres BOSSY MISS MOSSY (S. Price) was forced to race in restricted room when awkwardly placed between TOKEN ONE (A. Herrmann) and RAIN ATTACK (T. Zanker), which continued to lay in. BOSSY MISS MOSSY was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 7 : LONG S SAND & METAL RATING 0-68 HANDICAP - 906 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes owing to A. Herrmann, the rider of JIMASSI, informing Stewards that a towel had been added as packing to her saddle which she had not weighed out with. The towel was removed and A. Herrmann was reweighed prior to the re-saddling of JIMASSI. Trainer, Ms L. Kettle pleaded guilty to a charge under AR118A in that equipment which the rider had not been weighed out with was added to the gear of the gelding and was fined $200. HURRICAN ANDY (E. Boyd) was inclined to rear on jumping away. TRAFALGAR BELL (K. Brooks) was slow to begin. HURRICANE ANDY (E. Boyd) raced greenly throughout the event and was inclined to shift about. JUST KAPPY (J. Potter) laid out making the home turn at the same time as JIMASSI (A. Herrmann) commenced to lay in, resulting in HURRICAN ANDY (E. Boyd) becoming awkwardly placed for a short distance between these two runners and being obliged to alter course to the outside of JIMASSI to obtain clear ground. JIMASSI (A. Herrmann) continued to lay in for the remainder of the event and approaching the 100 metres had to be steadied momentarily when HURRICAN ANDY (E. Boyd) shifted in and away from BOLDACIOUS GIRL (J. Holder), which had improved quickly to its outside. JIMASSI was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. STARALAN was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer Mr D. Halliday was advised the results of a laryngoscopic examination and a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required prior to presenting for a future trial or race. RACE 8 : MCALISTER PAINTERS BENCHMARK 80 - HANDICAP - 1406 metres MR ZOOLANDER (A. Doyle) and MORNIN SAM (D. Caboche) were slow to begin. EMMOOKI S DASH (A. Herrmann) jumped away awkwardly. RACE 8 : MCALISTER PAINTERS BENCHMARK 80 - HANDICAP - 1406 metres (Cont d) KILL BILL (B. Claridge) was inclined to shift about under pressure in the straight and approaching the 100 metres rolled out and contacted REDEEM BOUNTY (J. Toeroek). IT AND A BIT (P. Gatt) laid in under pressure in the straight and in the vicinity of the 100 metres shifted in onto RAISE A DREAM (J. Holder), which was laying out, resulting in RAISE A DREAM having to be steadied momentarily. RACE 9 : CUTTING EDGE ENGINEERING RATING 0-62 HANDICAP 1206 metres Mr K. Sweeney, the Trainer of SOCIAL LANE, put a submission to Stewards that the gelding be a late scratching owing to SOCIAL LANE being extremely difficult to ride and in his opinion, will only be suited to a rider who had previous experience with the gelding. After considering the submission, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SOCIAL LANE and declared it a late scratching at 9.05 am. AKERBOY (C. Jokic) jumped away awkwardly. PILOT S LANE (S. Cahill) was slow to begin. MADEMOISELLE DENON (J. Potter) raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event and approaching the 100 metres AKERBOY (C. Jokic) improved onto that mare s heels and had to be checked. Inside the 400 metres MADEMOISELLE DENON (J. Potter) shifted out to improve onto HEURIGER (E. Boyd), which had to be momentarily steadied and altered course back to that mare s inside. J. Potter was reprimanded and advised in future to ensure he was sufficiently clear prior to commencing to shift ground. From inside the 200 metres GEORDIE S SECOND (B. Claridge) was inclined to lay in onto FORCE OF THREE (S. Price), resulting in these runners brushing for a number of strides. Approaching the 100 metres DAMAGE CONTROL (T. Baker) shifted in abruptly as it improved to the outside of GEORDIE S SECOND (B. Claridge), resulting in that gelding being taken in onto FORCE OF THREE (S. Price), which had to be checked when taken across the heels of MADEMOISELLE DENON (J. Potter), which was shifting out marginally under pressure. When reviewing the incident Stewards believe that T. Baker had responded immediately when DAMAGE CONTROL shifted in and took no further action in relation to this incident. DAMAGE CONTROL was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. C. Jokic, the rider of AKERBOY, weighed in below the weight that she had weighed out in. C. Jokic advised Stewards that a towel she had weighed out with was missing from her saddle. Acting under AR143(a), Stewards allowed half a kilogram for the weight of the bridle and declared Correct Weight. Stewards questioned Mr J. Searle, the Trainer of AKERBOY, who explained that the towel had been inadvertently left on the rail at his stall. Mr J. Searle pleaded guilty to a charge under AR143(b) in that he was the person at fault for C.
