Spring/Summer Directory of Community Opportunities for Students This directory is provided as a courtesy by Delaware City Schools in cooperation with community agencies. This directory is not inclusive of all opportunities available within the community. For consideration to have an activity listed in future publications, call 740-833-1105 or email ruheje@dcs.k12.oh.us. Directories are scheduled to be published in February and September of each year and distributed to students in grades K-6. In addition, many activities are available through your child s school. Registration going on now until March 12. Those registering after the March 12 deadline will be assessed a $20 late fee. We no longer take special requests of any kind. D.A.R.T.S. Spring Session Date of Activity: 5/23/2011 Registration Deadline: 5/20/2011 Description: 2 week spring training program for ages 6-18 years. Practice is at the new OWU Meek Aquatic Center. City of Delaware Dave Staley Youth Triathlon Date of Activity: 8/13/2011 Registration Deadline: 7/29/2011 Description: For ages 5-12 years. Held at Mingo Park and starts at 9:00am. Participants will swim 1 lap (down and back), bike two miles, and run ½ mile. Those registering by the July 29 th deadline will receive a T-shirt. D.A.R.T.S. Summer Session Date of Activity: 6/6/2011 Registration Deadline: 6/3/2011 Description: Competitive swim & dive team for ages 6-18. Practices are Monday-Friday at Jack Florance Pool. Must be able to swim crawl or backstroke 25 yards without assistance. A $20 late fee is assessed after the June 3 rd deadline. Aqua Gym Description: Participants ages 8-12 yrs will be able to wear a wet suit and air tank to drive underwater scooters, shoot hoops and have egg/spoon races at Jack Florance Pool. Maximum of 10 students per class.

Softball Pitch Clinics Date of Activity: 3/19/2011 Description: 5 week beginning and intermediate clinics offered at Mingo Park gym. Teaches all aspects of the windmill motion of fast pitch softball. A Catcher is needed after the first class for beginners and for all 5 weeks of intermediate class. Jumpstart Sports Lacrosse Camp Date of Activity: 4/11/2011 & 6/6/2011 Description: Camp for ages 6-11 years conducted by Jumpstart Sports staff at Smith Park. Camp will be every Monday from 6:00-7:15pm for 6 weeks. Two sessions are offered. Hoop Stars Basketball Date of Activity: 3/13/2011 Description: Basketball camps offered for ages 4-8 years every Sunday at Mingo park. Camps taught by Jumpstart Sport staff. Basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, positioning, and defense are taught in a funoriented program. Skyhawks Summer Camps Date of Activity: Various Dates Description: Many Monday-Friday camps offered starting in June such as Soccer, Multi-sport, Basketball, Golf, Volleyball, Tennis, Cheerleading, Flag Football, Track & Field, and beginning skateboarding camps Tennis Lessons Date of Activity: 6/13/2011 & 7/11/2011 Description: For ages 6-17 years. Two sessions are offered and each session runs Monday-Wednesday for 2 weeks. Classes are held at Mingo Park tennis courts. Participants must bring their own racquet. Golf Lessons Description: For ages 9-13 years and are taught at Hidden Valley Golf Course. Sessions are every Monday for 4 weeks. You may bring your own clubs or clubs can be rented at Hidden Valley Golf Course.

Summer Horse Camps Description: For ages 8 & up. Each camp is offered Monday-Thursday for one week and located at Jeff Geiger Performance Horses on Ford Rd. in Delaware. Students will have fun with crafts and games as well as spending the day with horses. Horseback Riding Lessons Description: For ages 8 & up. Multiple 4 week lessons are offered all summer at Jeff Geiger Performance Horses located on Ford Road in Delaware. Class days offered are Monday or Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings. Exclusively For Infant & Toddlers Description: Great learning experience for ages 3-36 months. Students will play games, read stories, sing songs, introduce baby signs and explore fine motor activities. Parents are given useful information to be used at home. Just for the Pre-Preschoolers Description: Great learning experience for ages 3-4 years. Students will play games, sing songs, & work on beginning reading, listening and arithmetic skills. Parents are given useful information to be used at home.
