President s message: Brierside chat Greetings Corvair Friends, The 24 th Annual Spring Dust Off is now history. It was a great day and a great time was had by all. The weather was wonderful with a little breeze to keep the bugs away. There was a total of 36 Corvairs of all shapes and sizes. The quality of the cars keeps getting better ever year. The voting is very difficult because there are so many wonderful cars. Everyone has their own idea of which car is best. Some vote by original, some by color, and some for just what they like. The ladies did a great job with the Chinese Auction baskets. There were a total of 14 with a good variety of items. They looked great and those that won had lots of good stuff. The 50/50 was good with $100 to the winner and $100 to the club. The tool drawers raffle was a success bringing in over $100 for the club. This will give us money for some donations and enough to have a great 25 th Annual Dust off in 2014. The valve cover race was lots of fun with twelve cars running a double elimination. The racers are getting more advanced. The back seat driver contest was a big hit as always. Everyone had a great time and some of the milk jugs made it through the whole day. Thanks to all for a great show. Thanks to those that did the work and those that came and enjoyed. It takes everyone to make it all work. We missed Leslie and Rick and the toy display; hope they will be back next year. We did miss the Lowe s and crew from Nova Scotia but glad Wade and Wayne came down as their representatives with red convertible Spyder. We did meet some new folks from Montreal as we finished picking things up, they arrived. They had been held up at the border getting through customs. They had a nice drive and joined us for supper after we had a little tech session about their car. They have had it for about 3 years. Look for Jon s report for all the results from a wonderful day! Next meeting will be on June 2, 2013 at the Flag Hill Winery in Lee, NH. Check the calendar for the information of when and where to meet. Thanks again for a great show and look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting. Wayne Cox, Co President Welcome to our Dust-Off Issue 24 th Annual New England Spring Dust-Off We had great weather with sunny blue skies and occasional shade clouds scattered throughout the afternoon. 37 Corvairs were in attendance counting a late arrival from Montreal. We held both a Back Seat Driving event and Valve Cover Races. There were no divorces that I m aware of although many water jugs sacrificed themselves along the course. Valve Cover racing was very tight this year with both the hi-tech and basic racers competing at about the same level. The Chinese Auction was a success again with lots of happy winners. Although no plans had been made to dine out after the show, some last minute scrambling found us at a local restaurant in Contoocook. A perfect end to a perfect day! Below is a group photo of attendees waving to Jean & Gerry Lowe and Leslie Barnard plus a Back Seat Driver contestant. 2
